11 Sep 202450. How to Get Approached to Speak in the Next 30 Days00:27:16

Today's topic is inspired by the celebration of two major things: Hispanic Heritage Month and reaching episode 50 of Cycle Breakers and Money Makers! I know that Hispanic Heritage Month brings a lot of opportunity for speaking engagements, if you know how to play your cards right.

So in today's episode, I'm breaking down how to be approached to speak in the next 30 days without having to individually pitch yourself.

We'll start with how to find aligned opportunities in the first place. Because here's the thing: right now, a lot of the public calls for speakers are nothing but engagement bait. So how can you move with intention so you know you're not wasting your time?

Then, I'll lay out a step by step process for actually landing the speaking engagements that will move the needle for your career. A lot of people pitching with good intentions are falling flat and losing opportunities because they're missing crucial steps.

So by the end of this episode, I want you to feel totally prepared to go out there and land real opportunities that actually ALIGN with your values and your ideal audience.

Because I don't believe that just ANY visibility is good visibility.

In this episode, I'm chatting about:

  • The 3 speaking topics + 3 teaching topics to come prepared to pitch
  • How to avoid engagement bait and find the right opportunities
  • Creating an "I Help" statement for you as a speaker
  • What to do once you actually land a gig

03 Apr 202427. A Niche is Not Enough: Where Demand Actually Exists00:36:38

There is more to creating demand than "picking a niche." The question is - how do we know that people want it and are willing to pay for it? This is why demand doesn't come from picking a niche, it comes from CREATING it (through thought leadership).

As a lifelong marketer, I helped companies across the world understand why something was or wasn't selling, and whether to change the product vs change its messaging in order to create demand.

For example, a tech startup accelerator would never say "pick a niche." They'd tell you to look at the market and at what consumers were doing, saying and complaining about. That's how we proved to investors that demand existed before we even created a new product or service.

So why is it that "pick a niche" seems to be the beginning and the end of the conversation in the online coaching space?

Demand actually comes from 3 things:

  • Being better than your competitors
  • Being different from your competitors in a way people are willing to pay for
  • Serving a gap in the market, which means you really have no strong competitors.

This is why I'm so big on thought leadership. Because in order to see the missing gaps, you need to be paying attention. The people that make the most money are those who think about their people A LOT. And once they spot a gap, there is less competition.

In this episode I am going to share:

1. How to find the unmet need or a gap in the market

2. Why demand exists in the gaps, and how solving for gaps make customers less price sensitive.

3. Why solving for gaps solves for imposter syndrome and self doubt bc you truly have no competitors.

4. How to stay in your lane to not second guess your thought leadership

This is what I mean when I say you don’t need to post more. This is what I mean by creating demand peacefully. Visit the Reclamation page on my website. Doors open on May 15th and I want you to ask any questions that are popping up for you right now!

07 Feb 202419. Create More Demand by Releasing Attachment00:32:12

Have you ever found yourself feeling resentful after a sales call that ends in a "no"? I'm sure we've all experienced that inner critique getting louder when business isn't going our way. Where there is attachment, there is also resentment.

So today, I want to chat about how you can release that attachment and create more demand. Because we all know that struggling through and telling ourselves "things have to change" over and over again isn't moving the needle.

We can't rely on our business to validate us. Even more important, we can't base our self worth on the state of our business. So how do we release these identity entanglements? And what can business look like if our relationship to our business goals mirrors what a healthy inter-personal relationship is?

In this episode, we're chatting about:

- Why inner child healing is essential in entrepreneurship

- How an attachment to sales manifested in lower conversions for me in 2021

- How I can spot attachment in business

- Shifting blame to curiosity for a healthier business

- Escaping the cycle of "bracing" and instead embracing "preparing"

This is why in Reclamation Mastermind, we focus so much on creating a Self Concept that can withstand your toughest days. Shame dies in the light and festers in silence. Fear grows in silence. And attachment needs fear. Attachment needs shame.
Tune in and let's bring that shame to the light!

20 Mar 202425. Chingona Revolution with Erika Cruz: Re-Air of The Realities of Motherhood and Entrepreneurship - Mariela De La Mora & Cat Del Carmen00:57:23

Being a parent is not an entrepreneurial disadvantage. For a really long time, I did feel like my life was harder because I'm a single mom running a business. But at a certain point, I realized this belief was not serving me.

Today, I'm sharing an episode of Chingona Revolution that I recorded with two of my close friends, Erika Cruz and Cat Del Carmen a few months ago. If you've been listening for a while, you know that motherhood affects all of my decisions as a business owner.

So if you're a parent, I know this conversation will make you feel seen and understood. What I know is that I would not have become an entrepreneur if I wasn't a mother. Motherhood allowed me to dream a little differently. I needed to move past my corporate career because I wanted a life that was truly designed to make space for my daughter.

We all know that motherhood and entrepreneurship do not come with a "one size fits all" prescription. That's why I'm excited for you to tune into this episode and get multiple perspectives!

In this episode, we chat about:

  • Navigating grief during pregnancy
  • How we make decisions and approach risk, knowing we have mouths to feed
  • How we manage our time and energy
  • Why releasing control is such a huge key to navigating entrepreneurship as a mother

22 May 202434. Reclamation Workshop Replay: 5 Steps to Building Trust & Demand from 5 Figure Clients00:59:51

If you want to be the creative director of your own business but you DON'T want to be subject to the emotional roller coaster of constantly being wrapped up in your business, this is for you. As a single mom, building a 5 figure offer and learning how to sell it consistently was the key to sustainable entrepreneurship.

For many of us WOC business owners, the idea of developing enough trust and demand to sell a 5 figure offer might seem out of reach. But in this workshop, I'm showing you exactly why it's not. Here's the thing: entrepreneurship thrives on privilege. And one thing I know after working with daughters of immigrants for the last few years: someone needs to bridge the gap.

Coaching that doesn't account for a lack of privilege is not going to work as well for women of color. Until we, as daughters of immigrants and Women of Color, have self-trust, we will continue to outsource it. And this outsourcing makes the privilege gap wider and wider. But how can we create really solid self-trust? The answer is in community.

Here's how Reclamation Mastermind Cultivates Self-Trust:

  • Access to psychological safety through coaching that acknowledges and validates fears
  • Strengths based tools VS. a one size fits all approach
  • Changing your environment to include big dreamers and supporters on every level
  • Decentralized Leadership that doesn't create a hierarchy

How to create demand for a five-figure offer:

  • Cultivating psychological safety
  • Identifying an unmet need to support your clients with
  • The Sellable Stories framework
  • Defining your thought leadership
  • Establishing third party credibility

05 Jun 202436. Top 4 energy and profit leaks I see in WOC-led businesses00:20:33

The thing about being a WOC business owner is that we tend to use our big hearts against ourselves. When all you want to do is serve, it's understandable that you'd put yourself on the back burner. In fact, that tendency is often the first thing that's modeled to us as children.

But here's the thing: abandoning our own needs, energetically or monetarily, is a huge disservice to everyone around us. It's the old adage of "put your mask on before putting on your neighbors." For example, if I'm undercharging, I actually can't help people the way I want to because I'm constantly worried about how I'm going to support my daughter.

So today, I'm going through the four energy and profit leaks that are most common amongst WOC entrepreneurs.

Here's a quick rundown:

1. Juggling too many things before you have the profit and support for it.

We all need to be prioritizing profit first. You need demand for ONE offer before the profit can create out of overflow. Spreading yourself too thin from the beginning looks like trying to create an offer for every conceivable buyer.

2. We make things “accessible” before making them sustainable.

You can’t lift 100 people onto a lifeboat. It costs money to run programs at scale. Profit first, then scale. You can help more people for free through your emails, podcasts, and workshops. But focus on making the result so good that you have less thoughts about the price. If we forget to build the belief that our offers change lives, it's hard to sell a sustainable offer.

3. Tendency to over-index on education and service.

I'm seeing WOC teaching and running free workshops with no clear sell and leading free groups. But then they’re not building a clear bridge to your offer. Spend more copy “real estate” building a bridge + talking about the offer!

4. Discomfort with rest and calendar space.

Most of us associate hard work with keeping us safe. This has been true for past generations, and it was even modeled to us through our mothers. But in business, million-dollar thinking occurs in calendar space.

18 Sep 202451. 6 Steps to Make Visibility Feel Easier as a WOC00:36:08

If you're going to land speaking opportunities (using the tips from my episode #50), you're going to have to get comfortable being visible. And here's the thing: Women of Color don't have an ability problem, they have a visibility problem.

Think about it, who do you usually see portraying the CEOs of companies on screen? Usually, a white man. Sometimes a white woman. Visibility is often needed to make more money. And I want to be really intentional about not making a systemic issue a mindset issue. Let's be clear: Visibility is hard because of oppression, note because it's a personality trait.

Even my super successful ex corporate women who climbed the ladder are not immune to this. I coach women who are Directors at Google, who have been SVPs, who worked for the United Nations. And across the board, visibility is hard for us. Being seen can feel unsafe because we've been overly criticized for out natural way of being and had unforgiving standards put on us growing up.

So here's 7 steps to make visibility easier:

  1. Acknowledge the emotion.
  2. Validate why it’s hard.
  3. Ask LESS of the thing you’re doing.
  4. What do I need in order to increase my capacity to do this?
  5. Rank visibility in terms of what you have the capacity for.
  6. Embrace it as a journey vs destination.

Tune in to episode 51 for the why and how behind each of these steps!

19 Jun 202438. How to Land Organizational Contracts and Double Your Revenue with Patti Dayleg00:55:03

What's the difference between selling to an organization versus individual clients? My Reclamation client Patti Dayleg, exclusively coaches within organizations and May of this year, she already doubled her revenue compared to 2023 through organizational contracts alone.

Patti is a Leadership Coach and the CEO of Malaya Solutions. Most recently, she was one of Broadway's first directors of equity, diversity, and inclusion. As the eldest daughter of Filipino immigrants, Patti helps BIPOC-led organizations and coalitions to sustain their movements.

Before joining Reclamation, she was pricing below market rate because she was discounting years of experience she didn't see as relevant. Now, surrounded by other women who are working towards similar social justice outcomes, she's doubled her income by embodying the worth her work actually has. Instead of seeing her rate as "just" an hour of her time, she's seeing her work as the whole culmination of her expertise and past experience.

Let Patti's story be a catalyst to dream differently. If you don't want to rely on social media to land individual clients, you can have a multiple six figure business that is completely offline and relationship based.

She has been able to land contracts by leveraging the relationships and reputation she already has.

In this episode, we're chatting about:

  • How she doubled organizational contract revenue over last year, in just the first 5 months of 2024
  • How to leverage your strengths to solve bigger problems for organizations vs individuals
  • Harnessing the network you already have
  • Areas of opportunity that already exist within organizations that you could be solving
  • How you can get started working with organizations using your transferrable skills and network

02 Oct 202453. Problem Solving When You’re Not Getting the Results You Want00:27:26

This year has been hard for a lot of businesses. Whether it's financially, emotionally, business model wise, etc., hitting a rough patch in business feels high stakes - because it is. So how do you problem solve when your nervous system is going into fight, flight, or freeze?

Sometimes, our emotions make us believe we don’t already have the answers to our problem. But that's not actually true. Problem solving and decision making are leadership skills that you can get coached on. With 15 sun skills, they are the top 2 EQ skills that come up with my clients.

So today, I'm going through 6 steps to problem solve when things aren't going your way in business.

Here's a quick sneak peak:

1. Identify the circumstance or thing you are struggling with

Remember, you can solve for facts, not thoughts. So be careful how you're framing this!

2.Identify the emotion you have towards it. Let it be okay that it’s there.

3.Ask yourself: what’s the real problem: is there actually a problem to solve or just a feeling to feel?

4.Neutralize the problem

5. Put all of your options on the table, even if you don’t like them.

If you’ve decided there’s a PROBLEM to solve not just a feeling to feel you HAVE to do something different. Or, make peace with the problem being there.

6.Just get into MOTION

Finding your way out of the fog doesn’t happen when you stand still, you have to walk around

Tune into this episode if you're feeling a bit discouraged in your life and business lately. I think you'll feel a renewed sense of possibility and movement after listening!

28 Feb 202422. What Helps WOC Take More Fearless Action in Business00:29:14

Becoming a parent and entrepreneur really changed my relationship with emotions. Growing up, I was often made to feel bad for being upset.

When I felt a challenging emotion, I was often met with "You have no right to feel that way. Your life is so much easier than ours was." And after coaching over 100 daughters of immigrants, they feel a similar way. Running from or suppressing our emotions was the answer at one point in our lives.

But growing a business REQUIRES us to change our relationship to our feelings. In Reclamation Mastermind, identifying and processing emotions are a literal entrepreneurial skillset you develop through nervous system regulation, emotional intelligence, and trauma-informed mindset coaching.

Creating a safe container for women of color to process emotions in community is what allows them to create AND receive more clients, money, and visibility.

So today, I'm going through:

- Why many WOC and daughters of immigrants are afraid to feel certain emotions

- How avoiding emotions stop us from taking helpful actions in our business

- How processing emotions can be easier

- Figuring out whether there is a problem to solve or a feeling to feel

18 Oct 20231. Breaking Cycles and Building Empires: The Story that Brought Us Here00:28:53

If you're first generation, you probably know that trauma is often the fuel that got our parents here. But where do we go from there? How does an immigration story inform a child's life?

I've had this podcast on my heart for four years and today is the first time I'm telling my full story. Together, we're going to be breaking generational cycles and getting out of survival mode. And I truly believe I could not facilitate that journey with you without providing the context that our connection can grow through.

Maybe you know what it's like to strive for the best grades, so you will be the daughter your parents brag about at dinner parties. Or perhaps you've been living in survival mode and you're ready to break out of it.

Wherever you're at, I tell my story, hoping you feel seen through it. Because you're not navigating this alone and this podcast is going to give you a look at the opportunities available to you, even through the hardships.

In this episode, I discuss:

  • Growing up as a child of immigrants
  • Ending a 13 year relationship and moving to Europe
  • Starting a new life in a new country
  • Stepping into motherhood as a single woman and moving back home
  • Starting my business and learning to trust myself

22 Nov 20238. Five Major Trends in Business: How Reclamation is at the Forefront00:38:22

Global shifts have a huge impact on business because they have a huge impact on us as individuals. I've seen collective awakenings that come with different expectations from consumers.

From mass layoffs during recessions to a global pandemic and now, genocide playing out right before our eyes - none of us exist in a vacuum. And your business shouldn't either.

It has also affected the way people buy because what people value collectively has changed.

Recessions and massive layoffs changed how we see security.

A Global pandemic brought the world face to face with mortality.

With the occupation of Gaza, we're seeing disparity between words and actions from people who are supposed to serve and represent us, for the sake of money and power.

And Reclamation is really a result of all the shifts I have personally seen our generation experience. So today, i'm walking you through how i've shaped my business to move in flow with the shifting needs the collective.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • The most impactful global events that have changed the landscape of business
  • Why it's important to build a business that reacts to current events
  • How Reclamation is designed to reflect the changes in the world

04 Sep 202449. How I Made My First Half a Million Through Story and Google Docs00:33:39

I made my first half a million without formulaic strategies that we're constantly told we "need" to make money. My posts didn't have call to actions and my website didn't feature my offers. So how did I do it? That's what we're digging into today.

I literally had friends asking me "Mariela, how are you selling out? I feel like I never see you selling." Here's the thing: when we get so caught up in templates and strategies, we can forget  the power of storytelling, simplicity, and authenticity in business.

I turned my sales call notes that were living in a Google doc into a whole coaching program outline. It starts with the power of attention. This google doc eventually allowed me to support a five figure offer and stay booked out 3-4months ahead of time!

Some of the bells and whistles that are touted as "non-negotiables" are actually more like the cherry on top. Your business can thrive before you have the professional branding, omni-channel marketing, and a full team.

Here are the things that were actually non-negotiable for me to create 80K in two months before:

  1. Thought leadership and speaking to a true gap.
  2. I led with my stories and repeated them often.
  3. I let myself be human > expert.
  4. Instead of repeating a promise over and over, I spoke to one person one problem, and one person one possibility at a time.
  5. Possibility aware vs problem aware. I taught them how to show up to the decision of working with me.

27 Mar 202426. Getting Sh*t Done without Burning Out with Ariana Rodriguez00:57:26

I had the honor of coaching today's guest for two years and watching her go from over-worked solopreneur Ops VA with a 9-5 to a full-fledged multiple six figure agency owner. Ariana Rodriguez is also the leader of the Get Sh*t Done Summit for entrepreneurs, AND she is currently in the process of developing an app.

Ariana is an operational consultant who helps BIPOC and neurodivergent business owners grow and streamline their businesses in a way that works for them. I'm always astounded by how much I can learn from my own clients and Ariana is no exception. She takes systems, which can be a heavy topic that a lot of business owners have some shame around, and she makes it simple.

I especially love how inclusive Ariana's work is. For example, if a business owner has ADHD - their systems need to be adapted with that in mind. So I'm really excited to dig into Ariana's journey. It took more than systems to get here, it took her thought leadership and a ton of self compassion.

In this episode, we're chatting about:

  • How Ariana's definition of success has changed in the past year, and what she was able to achieve during our work together 1:1 and in Reclamation Mastermind
  • Why an ADHD diagnosis resulted in more grace and peace in Ariana’s business
  • How neurodivergent business owners need to operate differently
  • The role of an operational consultant in a businesses day to day
  • Why creating systems and processes with a person's background in mind is extremely important to Ariana

24 Jan 202417. A Simple Messaging Shift That Makes it Easy For People to Buy00:26:24

Have you ever read through someone’s social media account and thought to yourself "I still don't understand what they're selling"? That's the byproduct of fluffy marketing.

And here's the thing, we've all done fluffy marketing. The truth is, when you become an expert, the way you talk is going to start going over your ideal clients’ heads.

It's like you've received your PHd and suddenly, you're being asked to explain what you know to people who have never studied that subject.

Speaking on your ideal clients’ level takes intentionality, it doesn't just happen. We need a process and data.

So today, I'm sharing a simple messaging analogy that will land you more sales calls and fewer objections.

Imagine this: You see a vitamin brand on the shelf that straight up tells you "you will have more energy after taking this". The brand next to it is filled with a list of ingredients. Which one are you going to buy? Probably the one that's makes it easy to say yes, not the one you have to Google.

So listen through to the end to learn how I consistently fine tune my messaging.

In today's episode, we're chatting about:

- The different between ingredients and labels in your messaging

- How to find the right label for your products and services

- How to “de-fluff”, test and validate your messaging

Leaving a Senior-Level career is a whole different ballgame than leaving a job. So much of your identity is wrapped up in what you do. It's not just about the salary. But it's possible to step away from a career and build a business that gives you more peace, more freedom, and more aligned opportunities.

My client Dani Tan's story is nothing short of inspiring—she went from being a VP at a top multi-billion dollar retail brand to full-time leadership & career coach and speaker. She's not only booked out and regularly gets flown out for speaking engagements, but she's living her dream of being a digital nomad with her fiancé and is looking forward to solo traveling for 2 months this summer, while her clients are still being served.

Would you believe that just a year ago, the idea of going live on Linkedin freaked her out?

We're breaking down exactly what made Dani's success in the coaching industry possible. In Reclamation Mastermind, she's taken advantage of the peer accountability and runs head first into discomfort. Dani's journey from private to group coaching within Reclamation Mastermind has been absolutely transformative and I'm so excited for you to hear about it today!

In this episode, we're chatting about:

28 Aug 202448. How to Get Yourself on Board to Do Sh*t That Scares You00:35:39

Ready for a free coaching session? In this episode, take notes while I take you through the visual I use with clients to help them do things that scare them. Sometimes, we get caught in fight, flight, fawn or freeze responses. Especially as entrepreneurs, we're constantly coming up against circumstances that are just...not normal.

So, let's pretend you've just been invited to do a TedTalk style speech for a very well-known vitamin brand. I use this an example because this is currently happening in Reclamation right now. We've also had people land actual TedTalks and have used this process with them as well.

Tons of thoughts might be coming up. Things like - What if they say my price is too much? What if I mess up? What if they don't like me? Do I actually have time for this? And on, and on.

So..how can you get out of these thought spirals and actually move towards something that scares you?

The answer is: Get in touch with what I call your Internal Boardroom. This is an introduction to parts work - a key focus in therapy and business/life coaching. It's kind of like the movie Inside Out.

By the end of this episode, you're going to have the tools you need to understand yourself on a deeper level. And when you understand yourself, you can work with all of your inner voices to get out of trauma responses that might be holding you back.

In this episode, we're chatting about:

  • What is Parts Work?
  • Defining the parts of yourself:
  • The Inner Child
  • The Higher Self
  • The Role Self
  • Mine are characterized as:
  • Clipboard Mariela
  • Publicist Mariela
  • An exercise to work with the different parts of yourself
  • How to determine which part is holding the mic in the Boardroom meeting

26 Sep 202452. 5 Ways to Attract Higher Level Clients and Opportunities00:39:35

Have you ever felt like you're trying to convince people that your offers are "worth it"? Well, the problem is probably not your offers, it's your messaging.

You know the power of the transformation you provide for clients! So together, let's lock down marketing that helps you skip right past price objections and unaligned clients. In today's episode, I want to give you the tools you need to attract totally aligned clients through your messaging.

Imagine you're on stage and you have people sitting in the front row, all eyes on you. But you also have others sitting in the middle talking to each other, going to get popcorn, standing by the wall chatting, and you've even got people who haven't entered the theater at all.

Ask yourself: who are you talking to? Are you going to expend all your energy trying to reach the people at the popcorn stand? Or will you opt to speak to the people that are already listening?

If you decide you're ready to talk to directly to the people in the front row, this episode is for you. Because at the end of the day, getting specific about who you help will make it possible for you to make a bigger impact. And getting intentional about how you speak to them will make it easier to call them into your space.

Here's 5 ways to attract higher level clients and opportunities:

  1. Imagine your best clients when you write and when you make decisions in your business.
  2. Think of the most sophisticated problems you solve and who has them
  3. Watch your tone. Speak to them with respect in your marketing.
  4. You HAVE to start do more than centering your own success story in your marketing.
  5. More thought leadership and context. Less right vs wrong.

And bonus points for using your thought leadership to gain Third Party Credibility!

18 Oct 20233. Navigating Loss While Booking Out: Lessons from Loraine Martinez-Bellamy, Latina Life and Business Coach00:58:11

Are you and your business set up to sustain even when difficult life event happen? More importantly, is your nervous system set up to process them?

Today's guest, Loraine is a Latina life and business coach for high-achieving women who want to fearlessly expand beyond their 9 to 5. She is an attorney by day and I’ve been fortunate to have her join me for two cohorts of Reclamation Mastermind.

In today's conversation, I’m sitting down with Loraine to reflect on the past month of business. In September, she processed a loss (TW: pregnancy loss), yet she was still able to process that instead of push it aside. She even went on to book 4 clients nearly back to back.

We're unpacking the lessons learned along the way with tangible takeaways you can bring with you.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • What led Loraine to start her business and how clarity in her niche helped her get meaningfully specific in her marketing and expedited her getting booked out
  • What brought Loraine to Reclamation Mastermind
  • Navigating trauma without bulldozing through it with the help of her coach & community
  • How Reclamation’s Success Receipts tool helped Loraine reverse engineer how she had created clients in the past which helped her call in 4 clients in 2 weeks, bringing her to now be booked out with a waitlist

31 Jan 202555. Why off-the-shelf marketing strategies fail (and what to do instead) w/ Kierra Conover01:00:45

If you’ve ever joined a coaching program hoping to borrow your coach’s strategy—only to feel frustrated when it didn’t work for you—this episode is for you.

I’m joined by my Reclamation client Kierra Conover, who breaks down the biggest misconceptions about marketing strategy, why cookie-cutter approaches fail, and how true strategy should be a byproduct of your own business data—not someone else’s success formula.

Kierra is the founder of KLC the Studio, a boutique marketing agency that helps service providers, coaches, and product brands sell their offers with data-backed messaging.

With over seven years of experience leading billion-dollar campaigns for brands like Banana Republic and The Gap, managing campaigns featuring Gwyneth Paltrow and Kanye West, Kierra knows firsthand why so many marketing strategies feel clunky—and why strategy should actually bring you peace.

Kierra also shares her journey from corporate marketing to entrepreneurship and how she overcame systemic challenges as a black woman in the fashion industry. From merchandising Safeway’s holiday displays with her mom (when she was a kid) to managing campaigns for celebrities, she's had an eye for branding since the start.

In this episode, we break down:

🔥 The #1 reason most marketing strategies fail (and why they weren’t actually strategies to begin with)

📊 How data (both hard numbers and what your audience tells you) should shape your marketing

🚀 Why the same ideal client buys different offers in completely different ways

⚡ The difference between coaching and consulting—and why hiring the wrong kind of support will keep you stuck

💡 How Kierra pivoted her own business model while in Reclamation to achieve 80% client retention and land clients with five-figure annual value!

If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing everything “right” but still not seeing the results, this episode will be the clarity you need.

31 Jan 202418. What self trust and capacity looks like in a multiple six figure business00:21:36

I made the biggest investments during my lowest earning quarter in business. Because of those investments, I then had a 225K quarter. None of this happened by accident! It's a product of moving with self-trust.

I'm at an in-person business retreat being coached right now and my birthday is today. You know what that means - it's a big reflection time. And I want to voice some of these reflections to you because I don't think the extremely nerve-wracking moments are discussed enough.

When you're on the precipice of the next evolution in your business, it can be so easy to slip into self-doubt and lack. When I had to cut back on 1:1 coaching in order to usher in this new era, I was making less than ever before. On top of that, I was spending more than ever before.

Don't get me wrong, I was by no means being reckless with my spending. Here are a few of the investments I knew to be essential in my growth during that period:

- FIRST, invested in a Rebrand

- THEN, hired a podcast manager

- THEN, invested 25k in a mastermind

And guess what? If the launch had not gone as well as it did, I would still stick by those decisions.

I even decided to have an in-person retreat abroad before I opened up enrollment for Reclamation Mastermind. That means that if no one signed up, I would have eaten the cost.

These are the types of big decisions and risks that will be made as an entrepreneur. And self-trust is at the root of our ability to move - every time.

Tune in to hear how harnessing your self-trust can take you through these difficult decisions. And if you enjoyed this episode, please share the love! Every review and social share goes such a long way!

03 Jan 202414. Top Scaling Lessons From 202300:35:11

This year, scaling my business meant navigating my biggest income spikes and dips, from 1:1 to scalable offers, and taking the plunge into group programs.

With any transformation, reflection is necessary to integrate the lessons. So in today's episode, I share my biggest and hardest-learned lessons of 2023.

The journey involved more investments than ever – in systems, team, rebranding, multiple masterminds and even the biggest coaching investment I've ever made. I had my lowest financial quarter in the history of my business, followed by my highest financial quarter in the history of my business, all because I continued to give my business what it needed to scale.

Amidst financial highs and lows, I learned invaluable million-dollar lessons. I faced my money fears, had uncomfortable conversations, and realized that what I fear loses its grip over time.

My experience in scaling is exactly why I'm a big advocate for taking a full year to master ONE offer. Because I got to know my audience on a deep level and leaned into consistent messaging, I was able to have my most successful launch yet.

More than anything, I'm grateful that I've built a business that allows me to live a more full life. I can be more present to my daughter and show up in my community without sacrificing my client experience.

Quick Lesson Recap:

  • That thing you're afraid of happening? It will happen, but it won't hold power over you after that.
  • Take a full year to establish a new offer
  • Repetitive messaging will pay off
  • Invest in lifestyle upgrades
  • Don't put anyone on a pedestal
  • Managing your money and feeling safe with it will carry you through, not your month to month sales
  • Your CEO friends will carry you through every season

18 Oct 20232. Turning 1k into 73K through Thought Leadership00:24:40

What if I told you that 73K did NOT come from a perfectly curated sales pitch? Instead, I turned a 1k speaking event into 73K in client acquisition.

In one single speaking engagement, I landed 6 clients. Don’t worry, this isn’t another Instagram graphic that only gives you the win and doesn’t break it down. In today’s episode, I’m laying out the who, what, where, when and why behind one of the most exciting and fulfilling moments in my career.

I share this story because these results are accessible to all of you. My clients have hit multiple 5 figure months and booked out because of what you'll learn on this episode.

Whether you’re an entrepreneur wanting to expand your brand beyond your offers or you’re climbing the corporate ladder, you can harness thought leadership to differentiate yourself and create demand for your expertise.

Personally, I’m ready for more women of color to unleash the power of their unique perspective and make insane money in the process.

In this episode, I cover:

  • Why thought leadership is so important in any industry
  • The story of how I turned a 1k speaking engagement into a 73K opportunity
  • Focusing on one perspective shift you want your audience to go through
  • Identifying the unmet needs in your community
  • Telling Sellable Stories

08 Nov 20236. How to Define Thought Leadership that Attracts PR and Demand00:26:32

The average American is exposed to 4,000 to 10,000 marketing messages every single day. Standing out in a meaningful way comes down to your thought leadership, and being an advocate for the community you serve.

Thought leadership is like singing a song you wrote JUST for your community, while everyone else is competing to play the SAME song, but louder.

That's why when it comes to selling higher ticket services, your clients EXPECT you to have a perspective they haven't heard before.

They expect you to have been listening. They expect you to advocate for them. That's why defining your thought leadership is essential.

And before you say "well I don't feel like a leader," or "why would anyone want to listen to me?" Hear me when I say: As women of color, we all have a gold mine of thought leadership within us.

Why? Because up until this point, our perspectives have not been centered. There is so much value in simply creating solutions to fill gaps in the market that you are able to see because of who you are.

And in this sense, your thought leadership finds YOU. You just have to be ready to communicate it to your audience. That's what today is for! So get ready and as always, if you enjoyed this episode, share it with others who you think need to hear it!

In this episode, I discuss:

  • What is thought leadership and why it’s important
  • Why it can be difficult for WOC to see themselves as thought leaders when you’re actually sitting on a goldmine of thought leadership
  • How thought leadership creates demand
  • How you can uncover your thought leadership

06 Mar 202423. You Can't Scale Your Business with Bad Thoughts about Money with Gina Knox01:03:47

Most financial advice you're hearing was not created with variable income in mind. So many business owners are trying to build wealth with tactics that are meant for nine to fivers.

Today we're sitting down with my financial coach, Gina Knox. She teaches entrepreneurs how to build their business savings to $1k, $10k, then $100k in her 12 month program 6 Figure Saver, then she helps her clients create a 7 figure wealth portfolio with her mastermind 7 Figure Wealth.

Gina coached me through the creation of my investment portfolio, my daughter's trust fund, and she helped me move through so many mindset blocks away. You're definitely going to want to take notes for this one!

Today we're chatting about:

  • The difference between personal finance and business finances
  • The types of spending decisions to avoid:

1. Identity spending

2. boredom spending

3. future problem spending

4. People Pleasing Spending

  • Why "I deserve this" is not a good barometer for spending decisions

17 Jan 202416. How to Align your Beliefs to your Goals with my Signature Belief Bookmarking Process00:33:26

As Women of Color, self-doubt and criticism can practically feel like they're in our bones. But I promise you, they're not. Your beliefs are built around PRACTICE, they are not set in stone. What you believe about yourself is just the evidence you have received and accepted so far.

I create the Belief Bookmarking practice because I desperately needed it in my life AND business. This process stems from a lifetime of what I now recognize as trauma.

I'll delve into my own story, discussing how I was conditioned and brought up, my relationships, marriages, and the repeated patterns that led me to create the belief bookmarking process.

For years, I wished I could be someone else, someone who trusted themselves and cared less about others' opinions. So I took matters into my own hands and made that possible for myself.

The belief bookmarking process is my way of capturing moments of self-trust, bottling them up, and using them to remind myself. It's a conscious effort to plan for slipping back into old patterns.

As humans, we tend to default to what we've always done. This process involves taking small moments of self-trust, turning them into evidence, and actively practicing beliefs about ourselves.

In this episode, we're chatting about:

- What is Belief Bookmarking?

- How Belief Bookmarking has changed my life and business

- ELEMENTS OF A BELIEF BOOKMARKING PLAN:

1. Take your Intentional beliefs and plug them into “I Am” app.

2. Leave voice memos to yourself

3. Favorite voice memos from clients or friends

4. Write notes to yourself when you are experiencing the beliefs you want to come back to

5. A Camera Roll folder in your phone with screenshots of messages you’ve received, client wins, praise etc.

6. Listen to podcast episodes you have been on.

7. Share wins with your people - it makes you accept them as truth more

8. Celebration act - shows your body you are receiving the win and showing yourself love for it

I hope this episode helps you begin the process of radical self-trust. Shoot me a message on Instagram or Linkedin and let me know if you're starting this journey!

27 Dec 202313. How I Manage Financial Scarcity as a Single Mom CEO00:35:24

From starting over financially after an unexpected divorce while pregnant to rebuilding my savings and ultimately creating six figures one one year and then in one launch, I’ve dug myself through the trenches to create my current my sense of safety with money: investing, creating it and holding it.

My personal journey with money started with relentlessly saving the $5 chore money I got from looking after my baby sister. Because I grew up in a household that was struggling to pay the bills, anything but saving felt like a threat.

And that feeling lasted well into adulthood. It's still something I grapple with today. So when I went from my "dream" life in London to moving back home and living on food stamps while pregnant, it felt like my worst fear had come true.

I do what I do because I want women of color to escape this cycle by creating more money, because of who they are. But it’s impossible to create more money without feeling safe in our ability to let it go and have it return to us.

So I’m giving you the concrete steps I take when I feel like I’m falling into scarcity.

As a single mom, scaling my business has often been an uncomfortable, scary experience. If you're feeling that, you're not alone. Tune in to hear how I process these feelings in a concrete way!

In this episode, we're chatting about:

  • My own money story
  • Acknowledging and normalizing the fear
  • Making peace with your money past and present
  • Differentiating facts vs. thoughts
  • Pinpointing EVERY option at your disposal
  • What my money mindset looked like an action in Q3 vs Q4 of this year, when I made my biggest investments during my lowest earning quarter, followed by my highest earning quarter.

25 Oct 20234. Six Steps to 250k years with ONE offer and NO launches!00:31:23

For the last 2 years, I've maintained a quarter million a year baseline from one offer, private coaching. This is separate from launch income from Reclamation.

I've done this even with...

👉🏽 No launches.

👉🏽 No digital products or intensives.

👉🏽 No professional branding or website (yet).

👉🏽 Marketing on only one platform.

Here is what I coach my Reclamation clients on in terms of reaching that 200k+ baseline within the next year.

A lot of this is also my advice for building up to a five figure offer, but not quite - I will release a separate podcast episode on that and how I went from a 6k offer for my first 18 months of business, to a booked out 15k offer within the next 6 months after that. So stay tuned because those episodes are coming.

So, back to reaching a quarter million baseline. Here are the six things I would do.

1. Getting better at selling one main high ticket offer vs trying to launch a group or sell multiple things at once

2. Keep documenting and improving client results in your main offer.

3. Create a culture of renewals by always knowing what's next for your clients. Renewals are essential, not just because of income but because they allow you and your client to create better, deeper results which will ensure you stay booked out.

4. Get clear on your thought leadership because it will fast track you to a five figure offer, which is the baseline for multiple six figure years with one offer.

5. Make client results easy to find, in multiple places.

6. Make third party credibility easy to find. Especially at the 5-figure offer level, clients expect to be able to find you sharing your expertise on platforms you don't own. Podcast appearances, clips from speaking engagements, or places your work has been featured go a long way

This has been a JOURNEY. Know that YOU can do this too.

13 Mar 202424. Latinas Booked Out: Re-Air of Creating Results Through Any Circumstance with Cat Del Carmen01:05:16

I'm always telling clients to create third party credibility. And one way to do that is by guesting on other podcasts! Well, you know I walk the walk. So today, I'm sharing an episode I was featured on from my good friend Cat Del Carmen's podcast "Latina's Booked Out."

This is one of my favorite podcast interviews I've done. When Cat and I met, I was her coach. Since then, we've grown to be great friends. One thing I talk about in this episode is the importance of surrounding yourself with other entrepreneurs who are aligned with you. Cat is a perfect example of an expander in my life and I think our friendship is part of what makes this conversation so great!

If you've listened to the podcast for a while, some of the stories I tell in this episode might be familiar to you. But some of them, I haven't really touched on in Cycle Breakers & Money Makers yet. Cat has a gift for seeing things in people before they really see them in themselves. So her skills as a host really brought out a new conversation in me.

In this episode, we're chatting about:

- What had to happen for me to quit a secure corporate job

- Navigating Covid as a newly full time entrepreneur

- An honest conversation about handling money as a single parent

- Surpassing the belief that you can't handle a six figure business

-Why sitting in discomfort is a business skill

11 Feb 202559: How Carmen grew by 45% and booked out by removing offers and strategies00:51:16

The fastest way to growth actually requires you to remove what’s weighing you down and doing LESS before you do MORE.

In my client Carmen's case, she came into Reclamation thinking she wanted to scale her group program because that's the primary example of success she saw. But in the program, she realized there were much easier, more profitable opportunities knocking at her door.

In fact, Carmen wasn’t even looking for a mastermind when she heard me speak on a podcast. But within 24 hours, she already knew she was joining Reclamation—before we even got on a call. That’s how thought leadership pre-sells your offers. When your message is strong, your ideal clients know they belong in your space before you ever speak to them.

Carmen Aceves-Iñiguez is a Queer first-gen Xicana, licensed psychotherapist, Certified Leadership Coach, systems change strategist, consultant and a mom of two.

Inside the mastermind, she realized her biggest opportunities were in B2B coaching and consulting—built on relationships and referrals—which was the real key to growing sustainably and being present with her wife and kids.

By letting go of her group program and deprioritizing marketing strategies she didn’t need, Carmen was able to:

✔️ Shift her focus to B2B coaching & consulting while balancing her therapy caseload

✔️ Book out her 1:1 coaching and grow her six-figure business by 45%

✔️ Hit a $75K August without constantly selling

✔️ Make "Delulu mindset" permanent by trusting her demand instead of forcing strategies that weren’t aligned

If you’ve ever questioned whether you need to do more—or simply realign with the demand that already exists—this episode is for you.

07 Aug 202445. Why Daughters of Immigrants Need to be Mentored Differently00:40:59

This episode is the heart and soul of what I do and why my business exists, which is to solve a huge gap in the mentorship and coaching space, for daughters of immigrants specifically.

I was able to see this gap because I experienced it firsthand. I achieved it all in school, college and corporate. But when I started my business back in 2019, entrepreneurship required me to unlearn a lot my belief systems and my Self Concepts that came from being First Gen.

At the time I did market research, speaking to dozens of daughters of immigrants and I began seeing the common challenges they experienced behind visibility, self trust, thought leadership and sales.

And now after having coached over 100 daughters of immigrants from origin countries all over the world, those approaches are clearer than ever.

Today, I'm breaking down the patterns that affect how daughters of immigrants show up in business and leadership, where these patterns comes from, and a new ways of integrating these experiences.

That's why daughters of immigrants need to be mentored differently. Certain advice and strategies may be helpful for others, will only further the disconnect between ourselves and our business.

Here are a few key issues we face as First Gen leaders :

  • You are still figuring out who you are as an adult
  • Financial scarcity based on being one generation removed from not having enough
  • Being our parents retirement plan
  • Standing out was usually met with criticism or punishment so it affects visibility and thought leadership
  • Emotions were often seen as a bad thing, yet they are REQUIRED of business.
  • Being WILDLY uncomfortable with not being "productive" at all times
  • Growing up too fast = holding yourself to unrealistic expectations now
  • Growing up with hypervigilance means you're always looking for signs of danger even when there is none there

If you resonated with this episode, know that you have a goldmine of gifts at your disposal. But part of your journey as a business owner is unlearning a lot of the survival mode behaviors you still carry as First Gen SO THAT you can make more money, become more visible and own your thought leadership.

You are a walking miracle.

With that, I invite you to work with me. I have added new ways to work w/ me privately. I have expanded my coaching to span from 3 -6 months so we can deep dive into both your life AND business, and the specific areas keeping you from your next level of growth.

23 Oct 202454. Breaking free from religious & relationship trauma through self care w/ Natalia Lopez-Thismon00:50:27

Private coaching is now open, with expanded options from 3-6 months: Apply here to schedule your call.

In this episode, I'm joined by my private client Natalia López-Thismón. Trigger warning for those of you who have experienced emotional abuse either in a relationship or have experienced religious trauma.

Natalia is a life coach, women's circle, and rites of passage facilitator dedicated to helping Latinas who feel stuck in lives they don’t want regain the radical self-trust to rewrite their stories, by developing the skill of self trust.

Her journey with self-care began during her divorce in 2015 when she discovered the power of caring for herself—a practice she had rarely seen modeled by the women around her due to cultural norms that discourage women from prioritizing their own needs.

As the eldest daughter in a Puerto Rican and Venezuelan family, Natalia is committed to breaking this cycle and creating new narratives for herself and others. She views self-care as a radical act of healing and the first step toward developing self trust.

In this episode, Natalia shares her personal story of navigating a strict upbringing, how Marianismo impacts women's self trust, leaving an abusive marriage and ultimately her church.

And it all started with self care, which allowed Natalia to develop the self trust needed to rewrite her story one decision at a time - a process she now walks her clients through.

But we're not talking bubble baths and massages. Natalia illustrates how self-care is more about taking care of yourself starting from your most basic needs vs the commercialized version we often get sold.

Get in touch with Natalia:

Episode takeaways

  • Cultural expectations can heavily influence identity.
  • Marianismo promotes self-sacrifice at the expense of women's self trust
  • How and when religious conditioning can create barriers to self-trust.
  • Leaving an abusive relationship was easier once self care rewired Natalia to trust herself
  • Self-care leads to increased self-trust.
  • Small promises to yourself build self-trust.

10 Jan 202415. Entrepreneurs Resist These Five Money-Making Practices00:34:21

Our resistance is a flashlight to where our growth is.

That's why today, I’m sharing 5 things I’ve seen my clients resist as their business grows.

After coaching hundreds of women over the last 4 years, and looking at my own journey in hitting 6 figures in my first 11 months in business, I see these common denominators.

Entrepreneurs resist these five things:

- 1A Instead of fixating on sales, making your marketing SO helpful, it could get people a result. (A lot of people agree in theory, but not in practice)

- 1B Educating with only a tiny hint of selling in their content

- 2 Networking like crazy and getting visible beyond just posting on socials

- 3 Hiring a photographer and doing a brand photoshoot

- 4 Speaking to yourselves with compassion.

- 5 Expanding your friend circle to include more CEOs

These conversations usually go "Oh, well I do that already!" or "I don't think I need to do that."

If you hear yourself saying that to any of these steps in business growth, I challenge you to move through your resistance.

You are going to feel resistance at all stages of business anyway. It never goes away, if you’re growing. So notice it, normalize it, and let it guide you towards money making activities.

The road to six figures is not meant to be a comfortable one, but it will be worth it.

15 May 2024Part 2: Reclamation Client Panel: What makes the mastermind different00:14:02

Are the rooms that you're in demonstrating how big your dreams get to be? If they're not, it might be time to change your environment. So today I've got a very special episode for you!

I'm sitting down with a panel of five current clients who are on their second or third round with Reclamation Mastermind. These women are badass leaders in their space who have intentionally carved out space to stay in Reclamation.

In talking to them, it's clear that the peer coaching and mutual aid in the mastermind have completely changed the game in their lives and businesses.

Today, I'm chatting with:

  • Yuritzy Gomez-Serrano (Somatic Coach, and our Nervous System coach for Reclamation)
  • Michelle Seijas (Leadership coach and speaker)
  • Dani Tan (Leadership & Career coach)
  • Loraine Martinez-Bellamy (Life & Business coach)
  • Rosa Revuelta (Leadership Coach for First Gen & BIPOC)

And we're reflecting on what this community has allowed them to see about themselves and their business! In Reclamation, my clients act as each other’s mirrors and they are always calling each other out with compassion. But because we’ve established safety, it’s a space to practice everything that feels hard about business.

So today we're exploring:

  • How Reclamation helped them make their gifts more public
  • Navigating tough seasons in life as an entrepreneur and how we wade through those waters together
  • What community looks like in Reclamation Mastermind

Doors to Reclamation Mastermind open TODAY! Reclamation is THE mastermind for First Gen & WOC who want to book out their offers through thought leadership and create demand for 5 figure offers, while feeling more peaceful and grounded in business.

Workshop attendees will get access first, then my email list, then the public. Get ready to apply as soon as doors open, and Receive a Peaceful Quarter Million 90 minute private strategy call with me If you apply by Friday, May 17th.

12 Jun 202437. Becoming Social Media Optional When Your Strength is Speaking with Kirsten Roldan00:51:25

If you'd rather send a voice memo than a text, this episode is for you. As someone with ADHD, I identify as a verbal processor and tend to shut down when typing emails on a computer.

But today's guest, Kirsten Roldan, founder of Million Dollar email, has solved for all the reasons people hate writing email including those who would rather speak than type.

Kirsten Roldan is a 7 figure business coach and agency owner who helps people become social media optional with email. She then helps them become CEO optional and scale to 7 figures on part time hours through team, systems and mindset.

I've known Kirsten since we were both at our 9-5s back in 2019-2020, and have watched her evolve through every business model she's ever had, only to ultimately come back to email but teaching it in a revolutionary way.

I've been a member of Million Dollar CEO since last year and was one of the first people to enroll in Million Dollar Email the first time it launched.

In this episode, Kirsten and I reference a conversation we had in 2022 when I knew I no longer wanted my marketing to rely on me showing my face on social media because it isn't sustainable, and how switching to email-first creation is a business model decision.

This is especially true if you're a woman of color and rebuilding the safety to be seen, or if you have more bad mental health days than good ones.

In today's episode, we're talk about:

  • The 3 forms of writing trauma that we (especially women of color) carry and how it gets in the way of us writing emails
  • Why verbal processors have a hard time writing emails
  • Kirsten's framework for starting an email without the writer's block
  • How centering problem awareness leads to more sales
  • What we mean when we say "email is a business model"

P.S. Applications are open for 1:1 coaching to begin the week of August 5th.

26 Jun 202439. Solving this #1 Problem has Broken Sales Records and Collapsed Timelines [6 FIGURE SELF TRUST SERIES]00:33:29

Lack of self trust is one of the most expensive and silent problems affecting women owned businesses, especially if you’re a WOC or First Gen. It can even present as something productive!

If you're investing in different programs and getting all types of certifications, you might think you're doing all the "right" things. But the fact is, entrepreneurship isn't like any other institution that has set guideposts and accolades to collect along the way. In school, it's really easy to understand if you're doing well or not. In entrepreneurship, no one is here to give you A+...no one except you.

A lack of self trust tends to affect 3 main areas:

1. You second guess your marketing

2. You underprice or experience imposter syndrome (bc you’re undervaluing your expertise and don’t fully recognize it),

3. You water down your thought leadership

Until you fully re-learn the skill of self trust, you will keep trying to outsource it to different programs, coaches and “figures of authority." And while these programs could be providing a life-changing strategy, you won't be able to make the decisions necessary to execute if you're not able to access your own self-trust FIRST.

So in today's episode, we're digging into why a lack of self-trust is so common and how it might be showing up in sneaky ways in your business. So if you've been in your head a lot, re-listen to this episode and stay tuned for the rest of the 6 Figure Self Trust three episode series!

10 Jul 202441. 3 Strategies to Double Your Demand and Self Trust in 202400:41:18

No cookie cutter strategy that's handed down to you by someone else is going to get you to your goal as fast as a strategy based on your own evidence and data. Making decisions this way is what builds self trust as a CEO because it gives you the confidence to understand exactly WHY you're doing what you're doing.

After listening to this episode and diving deeper in the Double your Demand through Self-Trust Strategies workshop I’m hosting on July 17, you'll have answers when your self-doubt starts to talk. This process also allows you to work with your natural strengths rather than against them.

So today, I'm walking you through strategies to build self-trust in your marketing, expertise, and thought leadership. Every strategy involves gathering evidence so that future you knows what to do when it’s time to make a decision.

To help you trust your marketing, gather evidence of:

  1. How people are discovering you (these are your visibility strengths)
  2. What made them reach out to work with you? (conversion strengths)

To help you trust your expertise, do a transferrable skill audit:

  • What is all the lived experience that you're putting to work to solve problems for your clients?
  • What are all of the skills you now have that help you support your clients?

To help you trust your thought leadership, ask yourself:

  • What have people quoted you on that is unconventional?
  • If you've already been asked to speak at a podcast or convention, what was the topic?
  • What's something you've been making yourself wrong for because you haven't heard anyone or very many people talk about it?

03 Jul 202440. How I made more money in 2 months than I did in 10 [6 FIGURE SELF TRUST SERIES]00:32:41

For the first 30 years of my life, I was the last person on Earth I would ever trust. I always looked to other people as a compass, hoping for approval. And this pattern that effects so many of us as daughters of immigrants has repercussions beyond simple insecurity.

For me, it manifested into an abusive relationship where I was constantly gaslit for years. So I created a system to prove to myself that I am not crazy. In fact, I'm the MOST trustworthy person in my life and I'm entirely capable of being my own compass to make hard decisions and walk a path none of my friends or family have walked before.

Creating a System for Self-Trust Looked Like:

  • Quitting my job to solo travel
  • Moving to London to start a tech company
  • Getting divorced again while I was pregnant and moving back home
  • Making the decision to leave the corporate work force and start a business despite multiple promising job offers

Because of this process, I’ve made almost a million dollars as a single mom, with a business that doesn’t look like ANYONE elses. I've been on 30 podcasts without pitching and had dozens of speaking engagements without pitching.

I'm creating a lane that no one else is in by learning how to trust myself. This is why I am the most qualified person to teach you how to rebuild your relationship with yourself through your business.

In this episode, we're chatting about:

  • The story that brought me here - from leaving an abusive relationship to picking up and moving to London
  • How I rebuilt my self trust using a system I now use in my business and with my clients called Belief Bookmarking
  • How I used the Belief Bookmarking system to bring back self trust when I thought I'd lost it (I wound up making 80k in the last 2 months after having made 70k in the first 10)
  • What those doubled and tripled outcomes and collapsed timelines have looked like for my clients

17 Jul 202442. Turning Disappointment Into a Record-Breaking Quarter with Betty Chan00:49:23

Today's guest hit her biggest quarter in three years while embracing the art of celebration again in Reclamation. Betty Chan is an authenticity coach who guides code switchers to confidently embrace who they are by shedding their armor.

At the core of her approach is the concept of Kintsugi. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with urushi lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. This art reminds us not to abandon parts of ourselves when things fall apart, but to mend them back together with the light of experience.

Earlier this year, Betty brought her excitement about a few new leads to the Reclamation community. For a variety of reasons, some of those leads fell through and Betty brought her disappointment to the group. By working through this in community and re-grounding into the understanding that every little step should call for celebration, Betty locked in an incredibly successful quarter.

In this episode, we're chatting about:

  • What happened during Betty's record breaking quarter
  • Betty's journey to coaching
  • The power of celebrating micro moments
  • The strength of leading with gentleness

11 Oct 2023Welcome to Cycle Breakers and Money Makers with Mariela De La Mora!00:03:11

We are our ancestor's wildest dream! And i'm so excited to introduce Cycle Breakers & Money Makers to the daughters of immigrants and WOC who are breaking cycles in their family everyday.

This podcast has been on my heart for four years and i'm so excited to finally give you a taste of what you can expect. Join me on Wednesdays for your weekly dose of empowerment. Each week, we will dive into business, mindset and leadership coaching that is focused on the lived experiences of First Gen. Because let's be real - daughters of immigrants need to be coached differently.

As the eldest daughter of immigrants, I have personally broken cycles and helped over 100 women do the same. I left a 16 year career as a Marketing Executive where I was the only WOC in the space, to now coaching 6-7 figure CEOs and high ranking women at organizations like Google, Microsoft and the United Nations. Using the tools I teach, I've since built close to a million-dollar business as a single mom.

What would the world be like if more First Gen women lived life at the top of Maslows hierarchy of needs? With each episode, I hope to move closer to that reality. We’ll cover topics that will help you become an unstoppable, badass, money-making leader who knows her worth and has the receipts to show for it.

08 May 202432. What My Booked-Out WOC Clients Have in Common00:38:39

When my clients transform, the "why" is not a mystery to me. I've been reverse engineering my client's success to make Reclamation Mastermind more and more valuable.

So today, I'm sharing the most important behavioral factors that led successful clients to be booked out, leave unaligned jobs, and double their income. Because business doesn't need to be shrouded in mystery.

I've also studied First Gen leaders exclusively for the last almost 5 years. We might think we're alone in the challenges we face, but the more we're in community, the more we understand that we're not so different. Many of us struggle with being visible, fear of rejection and criticism, suppressing our emotions, and hyper-independence. And I've seen these challenges lead to burnout and loneliness.

So every time I see a client break out of these patterns, I dive in head first. What were the mindset shifts that led them there? What were the environmental factors that played a part? Who was influencing them? And I'm so excited to dig into that with you today!

Today we’re going to talk about the identity shifts and behaviors that create big results.

Then, on May 15th at my workshop - 5 Steps to Create Trust and Demand From 5 Figure Clients, I am going to talk more about the strategies that can get you to a five figure offer.

Here's a peak at the identity shifts I cover in this episode:

  • Safety before strategy
  • Releasing identity from results
  • The importance of studying how your coach thinks
  • Disagree then DO, and come back with data
  • Think about your clients, even when things are working
  • Take radical ownership of your results
  • Ask for coaching on your resistance vs hiding with it
  • Being part of a community that is generous, safe and supportive

Listen and let me know which one(s) you're taking with you into 2024.

Then join me at the "5 Steps to Create Trust and Demand From 5 Figure Clients" workshop, May 15th at 12pm PST/3pm EST. Doors to Reclamation will open during the workshop, and if you schedule your discovery call by Friday, May 17th, you will receive a Peaceful Quarter Million private strategy call with Mariela.

15 May 2024BONUS: My Belief Bookmarking Voice Memo to Self after my $176k launch00:16:41

As a business coach, I still have to actively coach MY brain. So part of my process for doing that is in what I've coined the "Belief Bookmarking" process, which is foundational tool in Reclamation Mastermind.

When my self-belief is high, I like to leave evidence for my future self. Because those moments of low belief and not-enoughness are inevitable in business.

Growth is not a comfortable process. And of course, I've been getting coached on it and I feel very supported. But part of that support needs to come directly from me!

So today, I'm sharing a Belief Bookmarking voice note I left for myself right after my last launch where I was still wrapping my mind around bringing in 17 new clients into Reclamation Mastermind with 100% yeses, amounting to a $176,000 launch. 🤯 It was such an identity shifting moment.

I believe deeply in my own frameworks. So I kicked them into action after experiencing a super successful launch. I knew that the feeling of accomplishment, security, and pride was not going to just stick around forever.

So on December 19th, 2023 I left myself an 11 minute voice memo for future me who is going to forget. So the Mariela who was sitting in the evidence of her own capabilities in Dec 2023 helped to reaffirm current Mariela's beliefs during THIS launch (I’ve listened to it 4 times in the last week just to reaffirm my identity for this launch).

I'm sharing this so that you can get a bit of the behind the scenes into my processes. And this is something you can put into practice today to increase confidence later down the line!

21 Feb 202421. My Sales Call Process that has Created 97% Yeses at the 5 Figure Offer Level00:29:20

Thanks to my sales call process, I’ve sold just under a million dollars of coaching in 4 years. Of course, a lot more goes into it than that, but a phone call if often the make or break factor.

It’s possible to get mostly (or all) yeses without being pushy. And you definitely don't have to make anyone give you an answer on the call. If you've ever been given advice on how to conduct sales calls that felt a bit icky, this episode is for you.

It’s possible to get more pay in full clients at 15k and 10k than ever before. At this caliber, the clients show up to sales calls having already done their research. So remember that third party credibility is a big piece of this puzzle. Conversion doesn't start and end on this call.

Before the call:

- I do my research on the person before the call

- I take their intake form responses and turn them into a coaching program outline

- Highlight parts of their answers I want to dig more into. I will even write follow up Qs there.

During the call:

- I greet them like I would someone I know.

- Outline the call so they know what to expect

- I open with curiosity and ask "tell me a little more about what brought you to book this call with me today."

- I sit back and build a bridge

After the call:

- I send them a coaching program outline, an AI transcript and a recording of the call

Listen to the full episode to hear some mindset gems that will totally transform the way you conduct sales calls. And as always, if you enjoyed this episode, share it with friends and leave a quick review!

01 Nov 20235. Booking Out While Being Present as a Single Mom w/ Rosa Revuelta00:58:35

Daughters of immigrants are no stranger to advocacy. Growing up, we were often the translator and the go-between helping our parents adjust to a new culture. Today's guest, my client Rosa Revuelta, jumped into the non-profit world of advocacy because it came so naturally after her upbringing.

But when her son was born, she knew it was time to re-evaluate her work/life balance. Being present with her son was top of mind when she came to me for one on one coaching. Now, Rosa is a Life and Leadership coach for 1st & 2nd generation BIPOC leaders and she is booked out with a 2 month waitlist, and is on track for a six figure year despite being a newer entrepreneur.

She has taken her natural inclination to be of service and found a way to design a life that fits her needs. She's exceeding the goals she set out for herself. I'm so excited to sit down with her today and explore the mindset shifts that have made her the leader she is today.

In this episode, we discuss:

- How shedding hyper-independence as a badge of honor has changed Rosa's life

- How she was able to book out and land 5 figure contracts so early on in our coaching relationship

- The decisions she made to be more present with her son

- Being able to afford the townhouse of her dreams WAY sooner than she thought, because of her business.

14 Feb 202420. Lessons from Hosting my First Live Event in Mexico City00:38:21

I just got back from hosting my first client retreat in Mexico City! This was the event that kicked off 12 months in Reclamation Mastermind for 17 clients. It was bigger and more expansive than I ever imagined!

So today, I want to take you behind the scenes. What went well? Were there any hiccups (of course!)? And what were the key takeaways? I haven't always seen myself as a person that could pull off an event of this magnitude.

In fact, I had a lot of fears throughout the entire process.

But my community and the practices I've cultivated allowed us to create a safe space for members of Reclamation Mastermind to connect, get clarity and to leave with a new identity.

Here's a quick rundown of what I learned:

1. Getting what you want is ALSO uncomfortable.

2. Things will not go perfectly according to plan when you are doing something new.

3. Energy management will become more important the more space you hold so begin practicing now.

4. You will begin to PLAN for the discomfort of being stretched rather than AVOID it.

5. Your friends will be the ultimate support system to get you through new milestones.

6. Processing emotions is actually part of the plan, not a deterrence from it.

You don't have to be planning a live event to get coaching from this episode. These lessons are relevant with every new step you make in business.

Whether it's hosting your first workshop, getting on your first sales call, etc. these truths will be there.

29 May 202435. Hitting Your Goals in Half the Time as a Service Provider with Mariana Peña00:51:02

It's not uncommon for service providers to feel left in the dust in the online space. A lot of the prevailing advice service providers hear about increasing income comes down to changing their offer suite. Luckily, that's not the only option and people like Mariana Peña are paving the way.

Mariana joined Reclamation in February with the goal of making 30% more than she did in 2023, with the majority coming from new clients. She surpassed her annual goal this month, only 3 months into the mastermind.

Mariana Peña is an Instructional Designer and Curriculum Expert. She came into the Reclamation space after (A) having to pause her business to have her second baby and (B) having to start her Instagram account over from scratch after years building her brand.

Mariana didn't let the fact that she's a service provider amongst many coaches stop her from asserting herself and gaining undeniable self-trust in Reclamation Mastermind. I also hired Mariana to create my client success roadmaps for Reclamation 👏🏽

In this episode, we discuss:

  • How Mariana returned to business after a hiatus and used Reclamation as a way of understanding how the market changed in her absence
  • How she set a goal to make 30% more this year than she did in 2023, but from mostly new clients and she DID THAT this month in May! AND she just had a 20k week
  • As a Service Provider, the importance of being in spaces where people believe in you AND your work, especially in the moments that you don’t.
  • The power of being a WOC mastermind where you don’t have to explain concepts like “decolonizing curriculum” bc many are doing some form of liberation work.
  • How she's redirecting some of her profit toward one additional day of childcare and more date nights with her husband, so that her quality of life grows as her business does ♥️

This is Reclamation.

Doors to Reclamation close TODAY, so set up your call now if you’re considering joining and let’s chat.

We begin in late July and if you miss this round, the next one doesn't kick off til February 2025. This room will change your life. Don't wait.

31 Jul 202444. How I Manage Single Parenthood and a Multi-6-Figure Business00:35:39

This episode is for you if you’re a parent with a business and feel like NO ONE understands your situation. It's also for you if you're thinking of becoming a parent and wondering how you can do both.

Folks often tell me “I don’t know how you do it” and that they could never be a single parent. But when the outcome has already decided, you start moving making decisions accordingly.

The same can go for any goal that feels like “Oh, I could never do that.” In so many ways, being a single parent has blown the lid off what I think is possible. And I think we forget that sometimes...that we've done harder things than the thing we think isn't possible.

Being a parent can be lonely. It can be overwhelming. You compare your freedom to those of people without kids. But I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

So here are 7 lessons I've learned growing my business as a single parent:

1. How you manage your energy matters more than time.

2. You’re modeling something that changes the way they see their own options.

3. You become someone who can roll with the punches and handle things not going according to plan.

4. You have to become an expert at simplifying and getting the minimum viable output out the door.

5. You need to focus on profit more and protect it.

6. You rise to the requirements even if you think you can't.

7. You will have SO MUCH more compassion for yourself

And remember if you're a parent, you've done more by 9am than most people, so you are doing better than you think. Keeping little humans alive and happy and healthy is a miracle you create every day - even on your bad days. If you can do that, you can absolutely do anything.

When you're building a legacy, you will inevitably come up against push back from loved ones, especially if you’re First Gen. Today's guest, Maya Elious, is taking us behind the scenes on her journey of building a 7 figure business as a daughter of immigrants.

A major takeaway? Sometimes entrepreneurship as a daughter of immigrants means that you have to get really comfortable making decisions that your loved ones can't understand until they can see it in retrospect.

Maya Elious is an award-winning business coach and personal branding strategist. She is the CEO of Built To Impact, a coaching and consulting company that teaches overlooked experts how to build a profitable online business in their zone of genius.

Her biggest piece of advice for her younger self that was still holding out for approval? "Drop out sooner." At 23, she left college because she knew she had unlocked a real opportunity with her business. Did she initially get the support she hoped for from her family? Absolutely not. Was it ultimately worth it? Absolutely.

I'm excited for you to hear all about Maya's journey - from making $35-$60 per client each month as an 18-year old to hitting that million dollar mark many times over and launching multiple brands, we're digging into the mindset that made this possible for her.

In this episode, we're chatting about:

  • Redefining success as First Gen
  • How to build a personal brand online without trauma dumping
  • The self-trust required to drop out of college and pursue business full time

20 Dec 202312. BTS From My 175k Launch with 100% Yeses00:37:11

After a $175,000 launch of Reclamation, there is so much to unpack! I'll be honest, my first reaction wasn't celebration. My instinct was "we've got a lot of people to serve, let's get right to work." Sometimes when you get what you want, it takes your identity (and your nervous system) a second to catch up.

This is why I used the framework of Success Receipts to reflect on this launch - it's a tool used in Reclamation Mastermind to bottle up how you created any result so you can more easily repeat it.

What you celebrate, you integrate. So that's exactly what we're doing today! I'm taking you through some of the key questions my clients and I use to train our brains to understand - this is NOT a fluke.

Here are the exact results we're creating the receipts for:

  • 100% yeses
  • I mentioned 16 people at the time of recording, which turned into 17
  • 17 applications in the first 48 hours
  • 19 applications by the final day
  • $175,000 launch Co

And these are the key questions I'm unpacking about these results:

  • What key actions created your results?
  • What key decisions created your results?
  • What helpful thoughts did you have?
  • What did you surrender or STOP worrying about?
  • How did your perception of yourself change during this time (identity)?
  • Did you make any “identity decisions” during this time? (i.e. deciding something IS going to happen AND being detached from how or when)

During this launch, I've grown more acutely aware of the ways in which my work defies the expectations and "rules" of white supremacy. I have incredibly solid evidence that when you lead with values, you attract others that do as well.I'm so excited for you to tune in to today's episode! I think it's truly one of my favorite ones yet. So make sure to share the show on social media, tag me, and leave a review. It goes such a long way in helping others discover the show who may benefit from it.

15 Nov 20237. Reclaiming My Homeland in Mexico City for The Reclamation Mastermind Retreat00:30:59

Reclamation Mastermind's in-person retreat is being held in Mexico City! As the eldest daughter of Mexican immigrants, this is a huge deal to me and I can't wait to welcome the members of Reclamation Mastermind to a place that means so much to me.

But I didn't always have this close, deep relationship with my homeland. My parents have not been back to Mexico City since they left as kids. Mexico holds a lot of memories that, up until this point, they just didn't want to go back to because they grew up, not having enough and having to grow up very quickly as a result.

As a child, I didn't really think much of it. But today, I’m letting you in on the journey I’ve taken to re-establish a relationship with my roots. There is so much beauty in witnessing how far your family has come in just a few generations. I feel more connected to my ancestors than ever.

And this year, my parents are finally ready to come with me! They are arriving today after the retreat.

I can't wait to see Mexico through their eyes. I know traveling home is going to be an incredibly healing experience.

I can't wait to invite the members of Reclamation Mastermind to experience the magic of Mexico City together, as everyone plans life, leadership, and revenue goals that would rival our ancestors’ wildest dreams.

24 Jul 202443. Workshop replay: 3 Ways to Double Demand Using Self Trust as a Strategy00:54:04

Self-trust changed my life and has defined my career and business strategies. Today, I'm sharing 3 ways to double your demand using self-trust. You'll walk away with an action plan to operate from your own center instead of outsourcing your self trust to other people.

Sometimes it's the simplest things that are the most profound. The thing that feels unbelievably easy to you is the thing you can charge the most for. The marketing tactic that feels as natural as breathing is what will bring in the most clients. If we just have a framework to continually call ourselves home to our own compass, we'll stop being rerouted by other people's maps.

The three strategies we'll be covering to double your demand:

#1: Get clear on your thought leadership and the unmet need that you serve in the market.

Your thought leadership is your response to the unmet need or gap that you serve. Once you're clear on your thought leadership, you understand that it's actually a good thing that you feel like you're the only one saying what you're saying.

#2: Embody your expert identity

We often discount our own expertise. And that trickles down to negatively effect everything else. We'll be covering how exactly you can take stock of things like client results, past experience, and more to build up this trust.

#3: Lead with your gifts

And in order to lead with your gifts, you have to understand what those gifts are. So we'll be covering the process of a transferrable skills audit and my signature belief bookmarking process. Both of these frameworks will help you in all three areas.

24 Apr 202430. How the Skill of Five Figure Selling Solves the Biggest Mindset and Demand Problems00:32:35

You don't have to wait until you have a five figure offer to hone your five figure selling skills. But what do I even mean by five figure selling skills?

After going from a six figure salary with a husband and a condo to being pregnant on food stamps, I just remember saying I will never be broke again. That's not always the healthiest declaration as I hold it against myself a lot.

But NOTHING has given me more safety than knowing I can sell high ticket without relying on a launch to average multiple five figure months.

Five figure selling just means that your potential clients would anticipate a five figure investment based on your thought leadership and your reputation.

And this has less to do with having a pretty aesthetic brand (which helps only to magnify what’s already working), and more to do with clarity, credibility and trust.

In this episode, we're chatting about:

  • What I mean by five figure selling
  • The mindset problems that five figure selling helps solve
  • The increase in demand that is inevitable with five figure selling

21 Aug 202447. The 5 Natural Strengths of Daughters of Immigrants and How to Use Them00:21:46

Don't bypass your natural gifts. As daughters of immigrants, it can feel more natural to recognize and focus on our flaws. For me, it's so easy to recognize these core strengths in my friends. But when it comes to me, sometimes I need a reminder.

So I wanted to take some time to remind you of your strengths. Even if I don't know you, I know the experience of daughters of immigrants. I actually recorded this episode while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta with four close friends. I always love reconnecting with these friends and sharing stories because it reminds me of how connected we really are as daughters of immigrants.

Not only am I highlighting the natural strengths of daughters of immigrants, I'm also giving actionable tips to put these strengths to good use. Because for every strength comes an equal and opposite achilles heel. With intentionality and awareness, we can make sure that all of our strengths serve us instead of make life and business harder.

Here are the 5 natural strengths we'll be digging into:

  • You're highly emotionally intelligent

You are HIGHLY influential if you allow yourself to be. Tune in to hear how you can hone this.

  • You know how to make the most of any resource you have (space, time, money, support system)

You're probably overdelivering in so many aspects of your life and you're not giving yourself credit for it.

  • You can access more fluidity than most people

You're part of multiple worlds. Because of that, you naturally know how to see other people's point of view. This is GREAT for marketing.

  • You care DEEPLY

Because you have had a higher level of responsibility than most people from a young age, you're naturally inclined to take care. And if you truly care, it's impossible to fail.

  • You're resilient

We have the most incredible stories. We just have to learn how to tell them.
