With curator duo Yang Li and Jingwen Weng, we will chat about the cityscape of London and the embodied experience of pacing up and down in its different areas. Discussing the curatorial framework of Li and Weng’s exhibition 'Street on the Walk', we will share our thoughts on the relationship between the physical act of walking, perception of an unfamiliar city, and our encounters with local communities through unique media of art. Keywords around which the conversation will revolve include ‘urban space’, ‘embodied walking’, and ‘navigation’. The conservation will be free-flowing and loosely structured to encourage the audience’s active participation.

A：我在英国有六年了。大学主修政治，快要毕业了。我在伦敦伊斯灵顿住了很长时间。

B：Ana在运营一个博客，叫Islington storyteller，可以跟我们讲讲吗？

A：疫情之后伦敦封城期间，我和室友除了每天出去走走哪儿也去不了。我们就一直在尝试找离家最远的咖啡店。一开始我们找到个距离合适的咖啡厅就满足了。但后来我们来来回回就去那几家店，就想说在Instagram找一找。所以我开始看伊斯灵顿街坊的账号，但没找到什么有用的。我找到一个已经停更了五六年的账号，私信对方说“我特喜欢你的账号，但你好像没在用它了，我可以接手吗？ ，那个博主同意了。

G：所以@Islington_london这个名字不是你挑的？

A：不是的。这个账号粉丝增长的很快，我因为忙于工作和学习，并没有很多精力去运营它，即使这样也有很多粉丝。人们是真的关注他们生活的这个区域，从账号的数据分析显示，大多数粉丝都是当地人。有些人会发私信问我问题，我该带我的家人去伊斯灵顿哪儿逛逛/过生日/遛狗？等等。遛狗这事儿很讲究，因为有些公园是不允许宠物进入的。我很享受回答这些问题。通过运营这个账号，我发现好多人有共同的爱好，好多人有很有趣的故事。所以我想让更多人知道这些故事，知道这些有意思的地方，这是我做这个账号的初衷。后来就有了Islington storyteller这个网页博客。这个名字我想了有一会儿，我想分享大家的故事而不是我自己的，我想建立这个社区的联系，但不仅限于伊斯灵顿街坊，我想让更多人了解这个可爱的地方，我希望燃起他们想来逛逛的好奇心，希望他们对这不会感到陌生。这就是我开始网页博客的原因——我想写他们的故事。我也跟很多我称之为“说故事的人”合作，例如，在“What’s on Islington”里有一个哥们儿就分享了他认为在伊斯灵顿的一天可以干的事儿。另一个住在伊斯灵顿学生公寓的姐们儿学的是记者专业，她对这个片区的咖啡师很感兴趣，因此分享了一篇关于伊斯灵顿咖啡师的文章。网页博客的内容包括：一些文章，一些推荐，在伊斯灵顿可以干的事儿，有什么活动，等等…… 我现在在尝试以视频记录的方式做下去。

B：我们之所以对你的IG账号和博客感兴趣的原因也是因为在自己的策展实践中，我们也在尝试将自身与展览发生地的区域联系起来。你与伊斯灵顿的紧密关系就像一个城市策展的项目——作品是身处城市中不同的人，每个人都与这个地方有着千丝万缕的联系。

G：是的。就好比我们第一个展览，在社区图书馆里。我们有尝试通过展览将图书馆的常客/路人与这个地方发生关系，但很难。所以我刚才在路上才问你在与人交往的过程中会不会有失败案例？因为我们身为所谓的“老外”，其实就是“外来者”。

B：是的，我们想做文化交融/交换，也仍然在尝试。

A：我可以理解，所以身处伦敦已经是一个得分点了，在这大家都是外来者。好比伊斯灵顿是一个很中心的位置，但同时这的很多人都来自世界各地，所以你不会觉得这里很排外。我不是在英国出生的，我很爱伦敦，爱伊斯灵顿，爱与人交流，虽然我不来自这里，但这里是我的家。

G：所以你会有很强的伊斯灵顿身份认同感吗？

A：我觉得伊斯灵顿的身份像是液态的，有粘性的。它有当地性和当地的传统，但同时它很不稳定，永远处在动态中。因为这里生活的不同的人，它同时吸收和释放着不同文化。我猜这也是大部分人觉得它迷人的地方。我在伦敦碰到的在伊斯灵顿住过的人都会说这很棒。

G：我之前在伊斯灵顿的老街住了四年。但说实话，我没感受到什么特别之处，可能是住在伦敦就已经充满新奇了。就好比我们刚才逛的那条街，我现在几乎每周去一次，但每次去的都是同样的店，我感觉没有人带的话我不会进那些意大利的杂物店，但你刚带我们去了，它的历史和故事真的有惊艳到我。

B：伦敦对于我来说就很陌生，特别是伊斯灵顿。我住在南伦敦，但我很喜欢这，因为Ginger老带我来这的一个日本茶店。

A：没错，它们的小蛋糕和草莓蛋糕绝了！

G：我看到食物在你的博客里是很重要的一栏。

A：食物，文化和当地人。

G：你为什么会选择这三类？

A：我很爱吃，但我不爱在吃东西的时候拍照，这对于一个自媒体人来说就是个问题。我很喜欢人们专注于质量，并花很多精力去经营的事物，例如当地的餐厅。伊斯灵顿有超过365家餐厅，所以其实你是可以每天吃不同的餐厅的，当然如果这样的话我会破产。但通过不同的食物了解不同的文化很有意思，这是可以将大家联系在一起的方式。你可以在Instagram上看到街坊领居拍的照片。另一个分类是“文化”。我认为这是没有被外界看到的—当地人了解伊斯灵顿的文化，但这是我想让大家看到的。就像在soho，大家在中心区很难专注。而在伊斯灵顿我们有很多剧场，戏院。这些剧院都有些年头了。还有很多小画廊会有不同类型的展览，展览空间也各异，很像年轻艺术家的社群空间，同时有咖啡厅，还有空间做展览，做写生画室，做音乐等。这些是我认为很值得被知晓和被分享的经历。

G：你是自己去过这些地方还是通过结识朋友知道的吗？

A：我还有几位同事跟我一起做博客。我有时会问他们意见，让他们分享，然后我做编辑。

G：那你自己也会被他们的分享种草吗？

A：有时候会的。因为有太多美好的东西去发现啦，但每一个地方都亲自去不太现实。但我信任他们，彼此认识很长时间了就会了解他们对待生活的态度，因此我相信他们推荐的品味。

G：对的。人们喜欢的东西一般都会反映出他们的性格，品味，他们推荐的东西从某种程度上来说反映了他们自己。那你会通过大家推荐的东西去幻想推荐者是个什么样的人吗？

A：这是一个延伸的方向。我认为这很难回答，每个人都不一样，每个人都有自己最喜欢的咖啡厅，杂货铺，推荐的原因也不一样—有些可能是因为他们就是同一条街的邻店，他们也有非常当地的小商圈的生态环境。

B：我看了你在博客上的文章，文章很多都是分享人们一天的行程。文章中大家过的都是慢生活，享受过日子的过程。你认为伊斯灵顿是个生活节奏很慢的地方吗？

A：我认为这里最棒的是它平衡了伦敦的快节奏生活。伊斯灵顿既在市中心又同时保有当地文化的区域。你说的慢生活实际上也是很多年轻学者想要住在伊斯灵顿的原因。好比伊斯灵顿不适合一大家子人住，但很适合孤身一人平时工作学习很繁杂的人住，是一种从工作学习的逃离，是一种平衡吧。

G：是的。我们也是通过面对面的认识的。现在网络通讯太厉害啦，所有事情都可以在线上完成，但你做的事和你的生活方式都是比较“传统”，“慢”的，例如真实的去认识结交朋友。

A：是的。我甚至希望可以通过书信通信。我很看重人与人的联系。我想这也是疫情后变得更明显的更重要的，人们在你身边，而不是在电脑里，短信里，zoom里。所以任何合作我都喜欢真实得见过对方。

G：那在那么多故事中，有没有一个是你印象特别深刻的？

A：大家的故事都很有趣，比如你刚见到的Alex吧，他是附近咖啡店的老板，我们之前有聊过他的创业历程。他之前是演员，然后机缘巧合迷上了咖啡就想成为一个咖啡师。有了梦想之后就开始实现，最后成功了。就像在艺术领域一样也行得通。

G：我还在回味我们刚去的那家意大利食物杂货铺，它很能凸显这个区域的特点。包括它在两个独立的楼之间的夹缝中盖了个屋顶成为的建筑，店内卖的货物都有是老板亲自挑选，每个产品的厂家，农场和它们背后的故事都会被购买者知道。这家店让我想到1980年左右意大利的 soft food movement，一个反对快餐、机械化生产的食物的运动。你说他们把杂货铺开在伊斯灵顿也是看中这的慢节奏么？

A：我们刚才应该问问他们！我同意你说的每样架上的货物都有自己的故事，他们甚至会开设品酒，品起司的活动，他们会告诉你关于每款酒/起司的故事，会告诉你最棒的搭配方式。上次我来参加，有个搭配就惊艳到我了：啤酒配起司。我从没想过意大利的啤酒配某一款起司会有如此风味，自那起他们推荐的任何食物搭配我都无条件的相信。我认为是大家对生活和对工作的热情让我有动力做这个有关大家的故事分享的平台。这儿的每一个人都有自己热爱的事并且将它变成工作，融入生活。比如这个咖啡店，那个意大利杂货店，餐厅，花店等等。也正是因为这种热情，让他们把他们的工作和生活过的如此有滋有味。我认为这是慢生活的定义——品质生活。

G：是的。特别是在中国，他们的工作很多是根据社会发展的大方向走的，比如金融商科，很多人不是因为对这个行业本身感兴趣，而是对行业能带来的利润感兴趣，或者是被迫感兴趣。

A：我想这跟我们还是发展中国家有关系。但成为一个被公认的成功的人就是应该要拿到一份稳定的、高薪的工作。但我认为你享不享受这个过程也很重要，甚至更重要。我不认为如果剥削了你的快乐还能称之为成功。快乐是过程中得到的。当都是结果导向时，你会觉得完成一个目标就不得劲儿了，就要设下一个目标。而这也是我在伊斯灵顿跟大家谈话中感触最深的：他们很享受自己的生活和工作，即使下班了很疲惫也是开心的，因为他们知道他们创造了价值。这跟艺术家的心态很类似。
