We all feel it sometimes, or at least I do. I look at my own feelings of imposter syndrome and talk about how I handle it.

Denise, Tiffany, and I talk with Roeska Blankevoort. Roe is a Tunisian Crochet designer from the Netherlands.

We talk pattern grading, what it is, how it's done, and what it takes to learn how to do it. I suggest sources for size charts and courses, as well as, discuss what to expect if you wish to hire some one to do the job.

What steps does one go through to write a pattern? How do you go from idea to selling so that others can make your design? I look at some steps involved in the process of Design and Pattern Writing.

Tiffany and Denise talk with Katherine Gibbs, Jojodabom, a knit and crochet designer, about her design process and inspiration.

I ask Denise questions about her process for creating the two one-of-a-kind wedding dresses she has made in the last few years. We discuss where the inspiration came from, as well as how she decided on materials, stitches to be used, and how she made all the decisions regarding shape and design. Then we examined what she could do next time so she could write the pattern when she was done.

I share my research on the benefits of having your writing tech edited.

Nicky and I welcome a special guest, Michelle Hazell, a tech editor from the UK. We talked about how we approach the more challenging editing jobs we see and our overall philosophy of working with independent designers.

Nicky and I took a bit of a dive into how AI works and if it could write knitting or crochet patterns. What we found was both helpful and hilarious.

Denise and I interview her husband, Randy, a former Intellectual Property Attorney about his research, based on US copyright law, on what is and is not copyrightable about patterns, what needs to be in a copyright statement to make it defensible, and what actions you may need to take should there be a question about your copyright.

Lets look at a few ways you can save time and money on the editing of your pattern.

—Check spelling
—Double check your abbreviations. Make sure that you are consistent with  their use and that all abbreviations are in your glossary.
—Double check notions to ensure that if it's mentioned in the pattern,  it's listed.
—Give yourself some time and then double check your numbers. Do  stitch/row counts create size suggested.
—Check that Hyperlinks work. Make sure to give credit where credit is  due.
