Lauren is the Managing Director of Dare, Australia's leading legal recruitment agency. Before co-founding Dare in 2015, Lauren practised as a lawyer in large national firms as well as working in-house in the resource sector. Through the lens of a practitioner, Lauren brings a unique appreciation of the nuances of the practise of law, develops deep and meaningful relationships and has a true passion for building a future-focused and resilient legal industry. Lauren is a self-confessed legal industry nerd; following every move, trend, merger, appointment, promotion, major case and industry thought leader. Marc Yudkin is currently the Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel of VaynerX, LLC - the parent company of various international digital marketing and advertising businesses including VaynerMedia, The Gallery Media Group, VaynerProductions and Tracer Labs, LLC. As Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for all of these businesses, Marc is responsible for all of the Company’s global operations, acquisitions, employee relations issues and other matters relating to the overall general operation of a 900-person global agency while also ensuring that services provided adhere to the many regulations and guidelines promulgated by governmental authorities and other self-regulatory bodies. In January of 2020, Marc received an Icon Award as one of the top 100 US Corporate Counsels. He is a three-time general counsel, having served in that role at Silicon Valley-based Marketo, Inc., and at Texas-based travel industry giants Sabre Corporation and Travelocity.com. In January 2019, after leading the legal team that completed the sale of Marketo to Adobe Inc., Sterling returned to the Dallas office of Hilgers Graben PLLC as Senior Counsel where he focuses on litigation, general corporate matters, and data privacy. He earned his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis (with honors) and his bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University. He is certified in data privacy by the IAPP (CIPP/US) and began working on data privacy issues in the mid-1990’s. Sterling is a frequent industry speaker, including keynote speeches and presenting on privacy issues at South-By-Southwest. He also writes frequently for Thomson Reuters as well as comments on cutting edge legal issues on LinkedIn and Twitter. Lisa K. Lang currently serves as the General Counsel for Kentucky State University, a role she has had for three years. Lisa first began her career as a lawyer working as an associate attorney specialising in insurance defence for a law firm in Louisville, Kentucky. She left that firm in 2008 to work for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She first worked in the Office of the Attorney General as an Assistant Attorney General and then for the Kentucky Department of Education in a variety of in-house counsel roles until taking her current position at Kentucky State. His career started out with the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) where he spent 5 years primarily advising on major defence procurement contracts and delivering training on contractual risk issues and contract management. Chad then spent a short amount of time in the Department of Regional Australia, Local Government, Arts and Sport before spending almost 7 years with the Australian Sports Commission (incorporating the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)) where he advised on a broad range of matters from sport specific issues (such as anti-doping, child protection and integrity) through to general contractual and commercial matters. In June 2019, Chad commenced with the NSW Office of Sport providing advice across the whole range of its functions - from setting sport and active recreation policy for the state, supporting the NSW sport sector through investments and partnerships, running our network of Sport and Recreation Centres across the state to regulating motor vehicle racing grounds and, through the Combat Sports Authority, combat sports within NSW. To compliment his professional career, Chad has undertaken a Master of Commercial Law from Melbourne University, comprised almost exclusively from the Sports Law program. He is also a sports administrator and has held positions President and Secretary of the ACT Rugby Referees Association Inc and as Treasurer and Secretary of ACT Gridiron Inc. Shortly after the President was elected, Chris returned to his hometown Sacramento to serve as the then-Mayor’s Senior Advisor and Counsel, before moving to DC to serve in the Obama Administration. After stints in both the White House and Department of Justice, Chris moved back to the Bay Area and joined the law firm of Keker, Van Nest & Peters. There, he served as a litigator and trial lawyer, handling a wide range of criminal, civil, and regulatory cases. After four years at KVP, Chris left to join OpenGov and served as its Head of Business Development and Counsel. After OpenGov, Chris spent three years at GoFundMe serving as their General Counsel. While at GoFundMe, Chris became the Founder and President of GoFundMe.org (formerly the Direct Impact Fund), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to supporting individuals impacted by natural and manmade disasters and social movements like TIME’S UP and Equal Pay Day. In its first year, the charity raised over $33 million from over 180,000 donors. Chris received a degree in Philosophy from San Diego State University, where he graduated magna cum laude. After spending a year as a fellow in the California State Senate, he started working on his law degree at UC Berkeley School of Law, where he graduated in 2005. Kirk Simmons is the Head of Legal at Canva. Canva is one of the most exciting Australian companies at the moment and after some awesome experience at eBay and Cricket Australia, Kirk saw an opportunity at Canva and took it. As their first in house lawyer, he has grown the team to nine in under 4 years, as Canva’s growth continues to skyrocket as well.
