14 Mar 2019 | 304 Educational Testing Dyslexia & Social Justice – Stein -2 | 00:53:58
Educational Testing, Social Justice, Money & LabelsWe cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them. ~ Albert Einstein Dr. Zak Stein - Dr. Stein's educational testing interests focus on the interface between social justice and education, including specializations in developmental psychology and ethics. He studied philosophy and religion at Hampshire College, and then educational neuroscience, human development, and his doctorate in philosophy of education at Harvard University. While a student at Harvard, he co-founded what would become Lectica, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to the research-based, justice-oriented reform of large-scale standardized educational testing in K-12, higher education, and business. He writes on a broad range of topics including the philosophy of learning, educational technology, and the fundamental theory of education translated to applications for everyday life. Neuroscientifically validated details also matter for educational testing. Current testing requirements, including IQ, don't adequately cover mind complexity. Listen and comment. Consider: should the term for current standards of educational testing results and their subsequent applications with students more accurately be characterized by the term social injustice? Educational Testing EvolvesTesting doesn't adequately cover mind complexity. Imprecise results create myriads of challenges for everyone concerned - from students to teachers to school administrators and parents. Currently, Dr. Stein serves as Chair of the Education Program at Meridian University, and as Academic Director of the activist think-tank at the Center for Integral Wisdom. Ed Note: Daniel Schmachtenberger [http://corebrainjournal.com/084], our respected mutual colleague at Neurohacker, is friends with and referred Zak. Bottom line: our system of education-labels in the context of new measurements, new data and evolved mind considerations is woefully inadequate and potentially damaging to the lives of those mislabeled. This discussion is critical, indeed absolutely essential, dare I say mandatory, for anyone involved with any educational process. Feel free to weigh in below with a comment. Connect With Dr. Stein To Encourage Systemic Evolution"I am available for speaking engagements on a variety of topics, including Mind, Brain, and Education, Developmental Psychology, Human Development, Philosophy of Education, Social Justice, Educational Psychopharmacology, Educational Testing, and Integral Meta-Theory. I’ve been an invited speaker and workshop leader at venues such as Harvard University, The National Security Agency, Integral Institute, Buckingham Browne & Nichols, Amherst College, and a variety of academic conferences. At times I also offer consulting services to schools and other educational institutions around assessment, philosophical alignment of mission, vision, and practice, and developmental psychology. It has been an honor to have served in various consultancy roles with organizations such as the Department of Mind, Brain, and Education at the Harvard University Graduate of Education, Brandies University, Phillips Exeter Academy, the Long Trail School (VT), and Glastonbury Public Schools (CT). 08 Jun 2017 | 123 Targeted Neuroplasticity – Kennedy | 00:42:35
Targeted Neuroplasticity - Rethinking ThinkingJohn Kennedy is a pioneer in the field of Applied Neuroplasticity. He was originally contracted by the US Marines in 2006 to develop the first Targeted Neuroplasticity Training program to reduce casualties in combat and improve Warfighting capabilities. Stress preparation rewires outcomes. Just a few hours of Combat Brain Training improves focus and situational awareness and accelerates mental and physical reaction times through applied neuroplasticity. Several years ago, John migrated the program to the civilian sector with similar results in the corporate world. Trainees include Marines, Snipers, Special Operations forces and their instructors, pilots, professional athletes, business people, students, children and those suffering from brain trauma including TBI, PTSD, and concussions. All participants have had their lives positively changed by the program. John's insights refine the way your brain can grow improved coping through balanced self-management in the context of unpredictable change. How you think matters. Planning details matter. Ed Note: In one sentence: he trains you how to think. - Must listen to his deeper thinking and applications with the perspective of Systems 2 processing. Neuroplasticity - On Thinking SystemsEssential reference: Thinking Fast And Slow by Kahneman - Global Amazon Link - This interview and the next, Dr. Gleb Tsipursky CBJ/124 [linked when published], both address interesting applications for advanced System 2 thinking. Group-think and label-beliefs encourage more regressive and limited System 1, binary thinking. System 1 processes, as you will see in this summary from Wikipedia, are more stereotypical reactive with diminished prefrontal cortical, executive function process - no strategy or tactics. An Amazon best-selling author, he is most well-known for Find Your Purpose Using Science, and his soon-to-be-published Pro-Truth Politics: Fighting Post-Truth Politics and Alternative Facts with Behavioral Science. His comments regarding truth in politics also encourage accuracy in the politics of mind diagnosis and treatment. Beliefs must embrace data. Gleb's thought provoking insights refine the way your brain can grow improved coping through balanced self-management in the context of unpredictable change. How you think matters. Planning details matter. Ed NoteQuite interestingly, Dr. Tsipursky elaborates on John Kennedy's theme from this just prior CBJ/123 interview. In one sentence: he also trains you how to think - same intention, different teaching process. Listen to his deeper thinking and applications with the perspective of Systems 2 processing to lead your work and your organization. More About Insightful Intention - Decision Making In Mind ScienceEssential reference: Thinking Fast And Slow by Kahneman - Global Amazon Link. Both of these interviews [CBJ/123 & 124] address interesting applications for advanced System 2 thinking for your personal development and for the evolution of mind science. Group-think and label-beliefs encourage more regressive and limited System 1, binary thinking. System 1 processes, as you will see in this summary from Wikipedia, are more stereotypical reactive with diminished prefrontal cortical, executive function process - no strategy or tactics. It's more than antique, it's primitive: complexity is out, feelings and beliefs are in. Thinking Examples -Kahneman

20 Jun 2017 | 126 Homocysteine – The Depression Imperative – Farah | 00:53:29
Homocysteine & The Depression ImperativeThere is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow men. True nobility lies in being superior to your former self. ~ Ernest Hemingway Dr. Andrew Farah is a forensic psychiatrist, a psychopharmacologist, the author of a remarkable new book, Hemingway's Brain, - and an all-around deeply interesting guy on many levels. In this interview, our second after our first delightful Hemingway's Brain CBJ/114 discussion, is again most entertaining, and prescient regarding the brain awareness changes today taking place in both our society and our neuroscience community. Here Dr. Farah dives from the commanding precipice of brain injury, art, and history into the deep caverns of neuroscience: brain molecular physiology. This Depression Imperative encourages more precise thinking with more predictable outcomes for treatment failure on many levels. Here we start with depression. Brief BioDr. Farah is a native of Charleston SC and now serves as Chief of Psychiatry at the High Point Division of UNC Healthcare. This report addresses fresh details regarding the homocysteine theory of depression [1], and the use of reduced B vitamins for depression and neuroprotection, particularly the prevention of dementias. Yes, he's a neuroscience expert as well. The standard of care for depression in those distant Hemingway years dramatically differs from today. Today we know more about multiple causes of depression and, as Dr. Farah so articulately reports, the biology of brain deterioration for a complexity of biologically relevant nutritional contributions that mushroom into depression over time. Homocysteine presents a fresh marker, a depression imperative for all of us working with mind science. Farah's 2 CBJ Episodes: A Mix of History, Art, Metaphor, and RealityDr. Farah's depression imperative lessons go beyond just memorable - to transcendent. Mark down this interview as also unforgettable. - Thanks, Andy. And, if this is your first meeting with Dr. Farah, fasten your seatbelts for a curious journey with a commonplace blood test with standard, insurance supported, testing protocols. ----------- Dr. Farah Reports On The Homocysteine Depression Imperative

27 Jun 2017 | 128 Procrastination – ADHD Balance & Timing – Copper | 00:50:32
Good Procrastination & How To Use It EffectivelyJeff Copper - is an ADHD coach with considerable coaching and teaching experience who is on the same mission as our team here at CBJ. Procrastination is but one coaching and teaching focus for this very busy ADHD expert. With multiple media productions from videos, to audio programs to prolific YouTube training videos, Jeff very consistently sets an exemplary tone for effective international communication about executive function issues and downstream challenges - such as procrastination. In this interesting interview, we discuss in detail the process of procrastination, timing and effective, proactive action - and the affirmative value of what may be considered by some only as the procrastination negative. Herein we reconsider procrastination in entertaining and enlightening detail. Tune in to change your mind, we might be able to make procrastination work for you - without rationalization! Ed Note: On My Good Times With JeffAt first, Jeff and I simply bumped into each other at various meetings, from CHADD to the National ADHD Coaches Organization. I still remember very well how much we both appreciated Dr. Russell Barkley's remarks years ago when Russ added Executive Function insights to the previous appearance-based diagnostic criteria still used as the standard of care today. We all know that 'Hyperactive,' 'Inattentive,' and 'Combined,' simply don't cover the complexity of executive function challenges. Appearance, behavioral diagnoses are helpful but woefully insufficient. Barkley's insights offer more precise answers - improved target recognition. If both patient and medical teams truly understand and recognize the moving brain targets, the dialogue in global offices will improve markedly - simply because the patient can say, "Yes you hit it," or, "Not yet." [Functional diagnostic targets explained in 8 detailed videos in this Executive Function playlist: http://www.corepsych.com/diagnosis] Shortly after that first meeting we both quickly realized that we're on the same path. It's not inconsequential that we have, in a way, grown up together. I truly admire Jeff and his work and appreciate this opportunity to tease apart some of his ideas here at CBJ on my second interview with him. Our first interview, more than a year ago here at CBJ/017, discussed the evolution of thinking regarding ADHD/Executive Function diagnosis and treatment. [See my Jeff Copper video playlist - for the times when Jeff interviewed me.] Jeff is well beyond Byzantine speculations and often dives deeply into evidence and data for more precise thinking and more precise, data-driven solutions. ----------- Jeff Reports On Procrastination, ADHD And Time

13 Jul 2017 | 133 Mast Cell Activation Syndrome & Autoimmunity – Afrin | 00:51:03
AutoImmunity, Immunity, & Mast Cell Activation Syndrome [MCAS]Occam's Razor & Treatment Failure - 2Dr. Lawrence AfrinIt’s important to understand that [Occam's] Razor doesn’t say the simpler of two explanations is the more likely, nor does it say that the more popular, more widely believed, or easier to understand explanation is the more likely. It doesn’t even say that one explanation is necessarily more likely than two or more. All it says is that if one explanation can account for at least as much of the observed truth of a situation as two or more explanations, then it’s more likely that the one explanation is closer to the true explanation than the two or more explanations.[1] ~ Lawrence Afrin The great thing about science is that it's true whether you believe in it or not. ~ Neil deGrasse Tyson Coalescent Thinking For Chronic Treatment Failure133 Dr. Lawrence Afrin - This CBJ/133 episode takes on the issue of the pervasive, yet often under-recognized, medical mystery of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, it's crippling, life-threatening effect, and it's absolute relevance in the evolution of understanding important immunity nuances of mind science. Ed Note: Yes, this is a republish [2] of the second most popular Episode download here at CBJ after more than a year of reports from more than 100 thought-provoking neuroscience consultants and patients. MCAS with Dr. Afrin bears repeating for our growing international list, with many new global listeners since then. We first published this piece in July '16 at CBJ/028. [It's second in total download numbers to Dr. Bill Walsh on Methylation at CBJ/025. We welcome our increasingly informed audience - note that these two apparently arcane topics present as the most frequent downloads.] Dr. Afrin is charming, refreshingly articulate and passionate about his work as one of the leading authorities in the world [my perception, not his PR] on this exceedingly complex condition. You may not understand some of our conversation - as you will hear me also asking for clarifications - but this episode is an absolute must for anyone with a complex untreatable biomedical condition. MCAS should be on everyone's radar. Listen up as MCAS effects and estimated 10% of the general population - and directly affects the brain, with both mood and cognition conditions. They must avoid supplements and "enriched" foods containing copper.. ~ William Walsh This Copper & Kryptopyrrole Walsh Molecular Series RepublishedDr. Walsh Digs Deeper Dr. Bill Walsh describes in useful detail during this Episode from one of the three top downloads at CBJ [this is a republication [2] of the CBJ/034 download] that numbers now in the thousands. We think copper and kryptopyrrole imbalances bear repeating for all the new listeners not only because of their documented listening track record here but because they remain so overlooked and so frequently causal in treatment failure globally. In this Episode he clarifies how easy, cost-effective measurement and correction of unbalanced copper and kryptopyrrole levels caused by, for example, combat stress can significantly add to depression, even psychosis, and fans the flames of substance abuse. Just remember, psych meds don’t touch these underlying measurable biomedical imbalances. Think: molecular physiology arrives at the street level. Yes, this data is available in the urban landscape of Birdsnest, Virginia on the Eastern Shore. PTSD, TBI, PMS, and estrogen dominance are all often associated with these biomedical findings – all of these can become amplified, measurable and correctable. Accurate measures must become a part of every future stress-recovery process. If you don't measure and treat it, it will not respond to psychiatric medications. Your Homework If You Haven't Prepared
Copper [Cu] Overview:"Copper-overloaded depressives usually report that serotonin-enhancing antidepressants provide an improvement in moods, but they worsen anxiety. Benzodiazepines such as Klonopin and Xanax can be effective in reducing anxiety but are reported to have little effect on depression for this biotype. High-copper females are usually intolerant of birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy since these treatments increase copper levels in the blood. [96% of this biotype are women.]"[1] Consider chronic fatigue [CFS], terrible PMS with PMDD, and pervasive irritation with profound anxiety down to the marrow of your bones. 01 Aug 2017 | 138 Migraines Headaches Tinnitus & Malocclusion – Rosenthal | 00:47:44
Connections Matter: Headache Pain, Migraines & TinnitusOften Arise From Dental MalocclusionDr. Ron Rosenthal - Here Rosenthal weighs in on multiple biomedical pain and mind connections with migraines. With degrees in dentistry, biology, education, and a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, he left Eastern Virginia's tidewater for the hills of Kentucky, where he taught at the dental school there. He's a geographic neighbor now back in Hampton Roads, VA, is retired, and, as you will soon see, deeply opinionated about specific dental challenges that directly affect brain function through unrelenting head pains. Until our interview, however, we had never previously met. Know someone who suffers from migraines, headaches, or tinnitus? This fresh perspective offers evolved diagnostic and treatment options, not on the traditional headache radar. Treatment Failure & MigrainesDuring his teaching tenure, he became a co-director of the division of occlusion. That's the track where they teach details about headaches, migraines, and closely associated tinnitus. After appointment as the director of the Treatment Planning Division, he began to understand these connections more completely. Dr. Rosenthal brings years of experience to one of the most commonly missed contributory conditions that create migraine pain: dental challenges. Yes, you read that correctly. Small dental misalignments are measured and corrected in challenges that arise in less than a millimeter of dental enamel. Ron tells us how he's worked this out for many stuck in years with dramatic pain and tinnitus. Why Discuss Migraines And Tinnitus? In a word, these several conditions often arise from previously unknown connections. Tinnitus is often directly linked to migraines and headache pain, and far too often these dots, those crossroads, exist in a disconnected, under-appreciated but imperative, biomedical reality. In this CBJ/138 Dr. Rosenthal discusses multiple connections, he's personally witnessed and successfully treated over the years. ----------- Forward This Migraines & Tinnitus Audio Message Link To a Friend http://corebrainjournal.com/138 ----------- Complimentary 138 Rosenthal PDF DownloadIs Headache, Migraines or Tinnitus Messing With Your Head- Enter To Download Here -https://www.corebrainjournal.com/138download -------------ThanksUntil next time, thanks for joining us here at CBJ again. Bioengineering Takes Tragic Handicaps Out Of The Darkness139 Adam Piore - author of The Body Builders: Inside the Science of The Engineered Human - chronicles the ways new technology has retooled our physical expectations and mental processes. Piore visits people who have regrown parts of their fingers and legs in the wake of terrible traumas, tries on a muscle suit that allows him to lift ninety pounds with his fingertips, dips into the race to create “Viagra for the brain,” and shadows the doctors trying to give mute patients the ability to communicate telepathically. Fasten your seatbelts for a dizzying trip into fresh mind and body regions. Bioengineering activities address far more than just getting around with minimal support. Here Adam discusses his profound experiences with those who thought they would remain crippled and broken forever. 08 Aug 2017 | 140 Autism Markers Provide New Data Targets – Woeller | 00:49:47
Autism Markers: Expert Opinion On Biomedical Testing For ASDYou can have data without information, but you cannot have information without data. ~ Daniel Keys Moran Dr. Kurt N. Woeller became a biomedical autism specialist many years ago in 1998. An original Defeat Autism Now! (DAN!) referral physician, he has years of experience in researching and implementing advanced biomedical interventions based upon autism markers from laboratory testing, for individuals suffering from autism challenges. He now works as the Autism Outreach Clinical Director for Great Plains Laboratories in addition to his own interesting treatment and training practice linked next. His extensive network of exceedingly helpful educational websites, books and webinars provide parents of individuals on the autism-spectrum, as well as physicians and other healthcare providers treating autism, access to an abundance of important information regarding the latest biomedical intervention systems. ConnectionsProfessionals: To engage in direct interaction with Dr. Woeller you can subscribe to his biomedical autism training website at AutismRecoverySystem.com - a deep resource for both professionals and parents. On A Personal NoteI've known Dr. Woeller for many years and find him to be an exceedingly helpful clinician with remarkable translation skills in terms of addressing the difficult reality of hard data provided by specific autism markers, and then synchronizing it with clinical treatment. If you're a clinician I strongly recommend that you take a look at his Autism Recovery System and consider the fact that autism training takes you deeply into functional medicine clinical investigations that will find application almost anywhere in mind science. Kurt is interesting, engaging, and on a serious mission to help all of us improve our assessment and treatment strategies. Our conversation here at CBJ is loaded with take-home messages for every level of autism interest. 10 Aug 2017 | 141 Details For The End of Autism – Walsh | 00:51:40
Details For The End Of AutismFrom The CBJ Walsh Molecular Series: 4 of 4Fresh molecular insights from informed laboratory assessments inform both practitioners and parents about how we now find ourselves approaching the end of autism. ~ William Walsh End? Yes, You Read That Correctly - Here's HowAutism Markers Set The Stage For The End Of AutismDr. Bill Walsh is an international thought leader, and is, without question, the most frequently downloaded expert for our thousands of listeners here at CBJ. This heartwarming Episode on autism markers further explores his increasingly constructive medical perceptions as they relate not only to autism markers but the future of mind science. On A Personal NoteYou can tell from our conversations that I know Dr. Walsh very well. Bill is not a poser. He's not bombastic or hyperbolic in his thinking or presentations. He is a disarmingly genuine guy with a humility that makes him a bit uncomfortable with this, his new perspective on the End of Autism. He's exceedingly careful in every discussion not to embellish the facts, but to describe the data as it is, rather than what it might otherwise appear to be with a vivid imagination. His research numbers, his live, hand's on, enduring clinical experience with thousands of autistic patients over the years, inarguably sets him apart as an unusual, indeed exemplary, researcher/practitioner who lives within a refreshingly contextual data-reality of both applications over time and measured outcomes. Autism Understandings Target Improved InterventionsNo matter your perspective on autism spectrum challenges professionally or personally, you won't have to search far to see the implication for how the application of these dramatic insights with autism markers will change the future for the entire spectrum of mind science - from personality to behavior, to self-management to the most hopeless of mental conditions. One cannot overstate the global implications of Bill's work. Actionable Evolution For The MindNo matter your station in life, from high school to doctorate, to struggling parents living miles from any town, this Episode will in a short time become the most hopeful, most risky, most groundbreaking of all our interviews. Here Dr. Walsh connects dots that spell a different future for all of us who care about the big picture, the evolution of the human mind. More specifically, in this CBJ/141 Episode, Bill describes in useful detail multiple striking perspectives regarding the clinical development of the use of autism markers to address the reality of epigenetic, molecular and biomedical imbalances that trouble thousands of children and adults. I well remember my reaction of surprise when Dr. Walsh first, somewhat hesitatingly, hinted at the evolution of this extraordinary topic, The End of Autism - during our meeting with Walsh Institute Training student-professionals last year. 05 Sep 2017 | 148 Words Catharsis & Self Management – DeLuca | 00:53:43
Emotional Mismanagement & Catharsis | Self-Management Evolves ThinkingRemember, it is not enough to be hit or insulted to be harmed, you must believe that you are being harmed. If someone succeeds in provoking you, realize that your mind is complicit in the provocation. Which is why it is essential that we not respond impulsively to impressions; take a moment before reacting, and you will find it easier to maintain control. ~ Epictetus Philip DeLuca is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker - but he prefers to be called the Un-Talk Therapist. He specializes in catharsis and emotional dysregulation as it relates to poor self-management. When he started providing psychotherapy 40 years ago, he quickly realized that the “Express Yourself” communication approaches were creating more, rather than less conflict. He's determined to address inappropriate affect and feelings mismanagement and breaks it down with more detail in our conversation here. Catharsis Is Not The GoalAs a result, he dedicated himself to finding out why emotional catharsis efforts weren’t working. Along with his multi-decade journey, he turned to the latest body and brain science to upgrade the outdated "Express Yourself,” the feelings model, that was developed in the 60’s. He became his own guinea pig, and eventually, a successful case study. He developed an alternative holistic model that frequently works where conventional couples therapy fails, it brings quick results and is also easy to understand and implement. We make the point in this interview that Freud threw out the cathartic theory of mental health before 1900. This conversation is long overdue and dovetails with other thought provoking interviews on our CBJ Mindset page linked below. ---------- Phil's Website & Book

De-Escalate - How to Manage Relationships | Conflict & AngerAny person capable of angering you becomes your master; he can anger you only when you permit yourself to be disturbed by him. ~ Epictetus Dr. Doug Noll - A successful trial lawyer-turned-mediator for 35 years, Noll gives you the secrets to calm an angry person of any age while remaining centered and calm yourself. His new book, De-Escalate, guides readers on how to keep your composure during a heated argument, and to withstand insults, provocations, and disrespect from others without losing your cool. If you've ever lost an argument by losing it, it's because you haven't read or listened to Doug Noll. In a world more politically divided than ever, De-Escalate provides a simple, surefire way to communicate with others respectfully and productively, despite how tense a situation may be at first blush. How To De-EscalateIn De-Escalate, Noll shares how to defuse conflicts quickly by focusing and targeting the emotions of the angry person rather than the words being said (or screamed). In this way, habitual, counterproductive, defensive and reflexive responses of anger and frustration on your part are circumvented - and cooler heads will likely prevail. De-escalate Tools - Noll On The Reality Of Prisons"I developed skills to de-escalate as a professional mediator to help very angry people make better decisions about the problems they faced. Then I honed the skills in some of California's maximum-security prisons with inmates serving life sentences. With training, these insightful inmates have stopped violent fights, gang riots, arguments, and bullying using skills from De-Escalate. Dozens of inmates have told me that if they had learned these skills 10, 15, 20 years earlier, they would not be in prison today." Practical De-Escalate Applications: The Prison of Peace ProjectNoll, who holds both a JD and an MA, left his successful career as a lawyer to become a peacemaker. He is an award-winning author, teacher, trainer, highly experienced mediator, and co-founder of The Prison of Peace Project. This has been the most profound peace training Douglas has conducted thus far in his career. Inmates who have gone through his program have learned and applied deep, empathic listening skills, leadership skills, and problem-solving skills to reduce violence in their prison communities. However, you don't have to be in prison to develop leadership skills and political acumen. Books and Web site: Doug Noll

28 Sep 2017 | 155 – Advanced Measured Biomedical Insights – Jaffe | 00:39:52
Biomedical Insights | Measurement & HealingMeasure what is measurable, and make measurable what is not so. ~ Galileo An Interesting Biomedical Journey Into New Diagnostic PerceptionsDr. Russell Jaffe received his BS, MD, and Ph.D., from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1972. He completed residency training in clinical chemistry at the National Institutes of Health (1973 – 1976), remaining on the permanent senior staff until 1979. He is board certified in Clinical Pathology and in Chemical Pathology. Dr. Jaffe is a maven on biomedical insights that address current denial and innocence. Listening to him is not optional. He does not mince words or dwell in diagnostic platitudes. Be careful, he tends to speak in paragraphs. Dr. Jaffe Sought to Debunk Biomedical InsightsAs a physician and scientist who aspired to be comprehensive, objective, empiric and experiential, Dr. Jaffe started his career searching for deeper biomedical understanding, wisdom, evidence, and insight in mechanisms of health. What is discovered is transformational. Through intense curiosity and learned skepticism, Dr. Jaffe sought to debunk the best-known advocates of a variety of health promotion and healing systems. What started as a journey to disprove holistic forms of care became a rich educational experience that transformed Dr. Jaffe into a student and then a researcher in such areas a Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, active meditation, homeopathy, and manipulative arts. [caption id="attachment_6670" align="alignright" width="210"] Dr. Russell Jaffe[/caption] Personal Biomedical ReinventionMotivated by his personal transition, Dr. Jaffe went on to reinvent himself professionally by starting the Health Studies Collegium, a think tank that focuses on sustainable solutions to global health needs, with his fellow colleagues. For the last 30 years, Dr. Jaffe has advocated a system that treats people not diagnoses, causes not consequences and promotes long-term sustainable solutions as an alternative to a system dominated by prescriptive, symptom suppressive solution Upon refining that new perspective, Dr. Jaffe’s cumulative experiences enabled him to take his efforts one step further and build PERQUE Integrative Health, a company that offers the world scientifically proven, integrative health solutions that speed the transition from sick care to healthful caring. Dr. Jaffe: Biomedical Scientific ContributionsTo further understand his perspective, Dr. Jaffe’s practical contributions to clinical medicine and to healthcare policy focus on functional, predictive tests and procedures designed to improve the biomedical precision of both diagnosis and of treatment outcomes; he has authored nearly 100 articles on a variety of related subject with that complexity of perspectives. Examples of his contributions to molecular biology and clinical diagnostics include:

Here he discusses kinesiology measures and his imperative review of each muscular system, each acupuncture meridian system, the relevance of the lymphatic system, symptoms that result from neuromuscular reflexes and nutritional challenges, all of which releases tension and stress placed on the central nervous system. Once again, the mind and body are connected and communicate in measurable ways. Today we learn new measurements for recovery. A Deep Dive Into The Kinesiology of Body Mechanics"Originally born and raised in Gastonia, NC, but I have resided in Asheville, NC and our Wellness Center is located right outside of Asheville, NC in Fletcher, NC. As a Chiropractor, my objective is to locate, analyze and remove misalignments of the spinal bones that are placing a pressure on the spinal nerve roots. When there is a misaligned vertebra, the pressure it places on the nerve root causes an interference in the brain's ability to communicate with the body and vice versa." ------------ Websites & Selected Books:

26 Oct 2017 | 163 Brain Regeneration Stroke TBI Cerebral Palsy – Steenblock | 00:56:38
Brain Regeneration Targets The UntreatableMost of the mistakes in thinking are inadequacies of perception rather than mistakes of logic. - Edward de Bono Brain Regeneration Insights Make A Significant Difference For Treatment FailureDavid A. Steenblock, MS, DO, was born in Iowa in 1943, has been practicing medicine for over forty years and is currently medical director of David A. Steenblock, D.O., Inc. [A Personalized Brain Regeneration Medicine Clinic] - and is President of Steenblock Research Institute, Inc. a 501(3)c non-profit. He's a delightful guest, with a warm sense of humor and a deep understanding of remarkable new tools for brain regeneration. Beginning in 1989 Dr. Steenblock was one of the first practicing physicians to employ hyperbaric oxygen therapy [HBOT] to treat stroke and was one of the first to use HBOT to treat an acute stroke case (which produced a remarkable clinical response and turnaround). Stem Cell ResearchIn 2002, he started working closely with highly credentialed physicians in Mexico who treated patients with pure cord blood stem cells in conjunction with protocols he developed. Then, in 2004 he helped spearhead a pilot study involving eight children with cerebral palsy treated (in Mexico) with cord blood stem cells [PDF Article], which demonstrated both safety and efficacy, and in 2006 co-authored one of the first lay-level books on umbilical cord stem cell therapy ever published titled Umbilical Cord Stem Cell Therapy: The Gift of Healing from Healthy Newborns. Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate for Brain RegenerationThen, starting in 2005, Dr. Steenblock pioneered the harvesting and infusion of stem cell-rich bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) along with FDA approved pharmaceutical stem cell activators to successfully treat a wide range of chronic medical conditions and diseases including many neurological diseases and conditions. During the 1990’s Dr. Steenblock began specializing in the repair and regeneration of damaged brain tissues in people with chronic stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), cerebral palsy, and autism by the use of daily hyperbaric oxygen treatments. Dr. Steenblock believes he has determined the principle underlying players in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Parkinson's, MS and Alzheimer's. All of these conditions appear to be due, at least in part, to the chronic overgrowth of toxic microorganisms in the small bowel especially the ileum - which is adjacent to the appendix. This topic can be found on YouTube videos below by Dr. Steenblock, along with many patient testimonials. Interestingly, Dr. Steenblock's own daughter suffered from post-traumatic stress syndrome and was given stem cells by her father and enjoyed many benefits. ------------ Websites & Book On TopIc: Brain Regeneration

At the moment Beverly is finishing an evidence-based research project with a Ph.D. student investigating the use of her personalized recovery process on people who had experienced trauma at work. Preliminary results show there was up to an 80% improvement in 10 hours of therapy. She is an independent researcher in the trauma/adversity landscape and is focused on thousands who have had negative, traumatic life experiences. This is the second time for Beverly here at CBJ & focuses on her considerable experience with DID. Personal Note From Beverly "Everything about the recovery process that I teach in my practice was first accomplished addressing my own past conflicts - the embryonic theory I did in my own head! I adjusted each step, tuned and adjusted again until the step worked! I have family and friends who let me try this approach out on them who suffered from anxiety and PTSD issues. Weren’t they wonderful to do this? Then I added another part or step and started all over again with the testing, and adjusting. My friends also gave me suggestions which I then tried out and if they worked (again in my own head) I would add this my recovery plan until it became a complete formula, an 8 step process, 4 which can be done as a Self Help process and 5-8 with a counselor/therapist. Her PracticeMy practice can find application in a variety of challenges including PTSD, Anorexia, and Dissociative Identity Disorder. My first client who was suffering from anorexia for over 15 years was able to alleviate within 3 months and has never looked back since then. EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and ReprocessingUnlike other forms of psychological disorders, the core issue in trauma is reality. - Bessel A. van der Kolk - The Body Keeps Score Unlocking The Past With EMDRFarnsworth Lobenstine is a clinical social worker living in Amherst, MA. He's an Approved Consultant for the EMDR International Association. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy is one of 3 therapies approved internationally for the treatment of PTSD - to embrace events, to master them, from the dark halls of the past. Because it treats the body-mind, and not just the thinking-brain [the part that is the primary focus/objective for talk therapy], it has also proven to be very useful in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and many other psychological disorders. EMDR has proven to be an effective treatment for complex trauma and dissociative identity disorder when appropriately modified. He trained in EMDR in 1999 and served on the National Faculty of the EMDR Institute since 2001. This interview is quite compelling and adds considerably to options for resolving past trauma. He's experienced, intelligent and reasonably opinionated - an excellent mix! Don't miss Farnsworth - love that name! Personal Ed. Note: The use of EMDR treatments remain so frequently overlooked. Although I don't provide EMDR myself as a therapist, I've worked with numerous well trained EMDR practitioners and certified EMDR trainers since 2003, and find it remarkably, indeed pervasively useful in everyday psychotherapy practice. This 166 CBJ Episode doesn't entirely cover the fact that this technique works for adolescents as well - more on that specific age range coming later. Also, at this time in 166 CBJ Episodes, Farnsworth is the first practitioner/trainer who specifically discusses this proven, useful EMDR process for our listeners. And he won't be the last. We do have much more to learn about the EMDR How. Stay tuned; we've just scratched the surface on this interesting, utilitarian topic. -----------CBJ Experts on PTSD & EMDR

War, PTSD, and Recovery - First Person Accounting From ChildhoodThe world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places. ~ Ernest Hemingway Lily Violet, [a pen name], is the 30-year-old author of the book, Cinnia's Story, based on her own life story of overcoming PTSD from a war zone childhood. She is a professional chef with over 15 years of experience, but most exciting for her, she is a mother to a beautiful baby boy. Lily was born in a small Eastern European country but immigrated to Australia in her early 20s and that abiding past war trauma forces her to keep anonymity intact. A Refugee Reports Specific PTSD ChallengesFrom a very young age, she found herself trapped in a war zone, living day to day in fear for her own life and the lives of her family. Unfortunately, the war not only took away her childhood but the life of her grandfather, as well. Years of trauma created a serious PTSD, traumatic life experience. Lily has experienced repeated life struggles, including surviving two wars, being bullied through high school and in the workplace, suffering numerous health issues, to being a victim of domestic abuse. But these tragedies have only made her stronger. Lily currently resides in Sydney with her husband and enjoys spending all of her time with their new baby boy. Becoming a mother is one of the greatest gifts in her life and her greatest accomplishment. She comes to our CBJ group with remarkable experiences from a catastrophic life, to report on trauma and recovery. -----------Website & Book

Mother Earth is not just your environment. ~ Nhat Hanh Zach Bush MD, Charlottesville, VA., is one of the few triple board-certified physicians in the country - with expertise in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism, and Hospice/Palliative care. The breakthrough science that Dr. Bush and his colleagues have delivered through Restore offers profound new insights into human health and longevity. In 2012 he discovered a family of carbon-based redox molecules made by bacteria. He and his team subsequently demonstrated that this cellular communication network functions to compensate for glyphosate, and many other dietary, chemical, and pharmaceutical toxins that disrupt our body's natural defense systems. This exciting discovery provided demonstrable results surprisingly quickly in my office with a very refractory adolescent Autism Spectrum Disordered client, so I called him up to ask him for this interview. This discovery also resulted in a revolutionary class of dietary supplements, including their product, Restore. Dr. Bush points to his kids as the driving force behind his passion for change. His drive for comprehensive biomedical reform for our collective futures is evident in this evocative episode. His education efforts provide a grassroots foundation from which we can launch change in our legislative decisions, ultimately up-shifting consumer behavior to bring about a radical change in the mega industries of big farming, big pharma, and Western Medicine at large. His new book, De-Escalate, guides readers on how to keep your composure and de-escalate anger during a heated argument. His plans will help you withstand insults, provocations, and disrespect from others without losing your cool. He's an expert who discusses details about how to de-escalate anger. If you've ever lost an argument by losing it, it's because you haven't read or listened to Doug Noll. In a world more politically divided than ever, De-Escalate provides a simple, surefire way to communicate with others respectfully and productively, despite how tense a situation may be at first blush. Ed. Note:
How To De-Escalate AngerIn De-Escalate, Noll shares how to defuse conflicts quickly by focusing and targeting the emotions of the angry person rather than the words being said (or screamed). In this way, habitual, counterproductive, defensive and reflexive responses of anger and frustration on your part are circumvented - and cooler heads will likely prevail. Tools To De-escalate Anger - Noll On The Reality Of Prisons"I developed skills to de-escalate as a professional mediator to help very angry people make better decisions about the problems they faced. Books and Website: Doug Noll

Hemingway's Brain Examined - TBI, CTE & SuicideEvery man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another. ~ Ernest Hemingway Dr. Andrew Farah, is a forensic psychiatrist, psychopharmacologist, and the author of a remarkable new book: Hemingway's Brain. This interview, our first CBJ discussion, is at once transcendent, entertaining, and prescient regarding the brain awareness changes today taking place in both our society and our neuroscience community. This is a republication of our exceedingly popular earlier conversation at CBJ/114 Brief BioDr. Farah is a native of Charleston SC and now serves as Chief of Psychiatry at the High Point Division of UNC Healthcare. In addition to this extraordinary piece on Hemingway, we've invited Andy back to CBJ for a serious discussion regarding the homocysteine theory of depression, and the use of reduced B vitamins for depression and neuroprotection, particularly the prevention of dementia challenges. Yes, he's a neuroscience expert as well. Stay tuned for our next visit. His Interest In Hemingway's BrainIt's important to note that Dr. Farah's remarks in this engaging and remarkably informative interview arise from his love of Hemingway's works. His passion for meaningful work as a writer is evident, his professional experience as a psychiatric/forensic investigative reporter is exemplary, as is his abiding personal drive to face the new, discoverable realities of Hemingway's brain function. If you have loved the troubled, insightful and metaphoric Hemingway, as we have over many years, you will most certainly find our discussion interesting. And you will genuinely appreciate Andy's book. From the historically documented challenges of Hemingway's chronic traumatic encephalopathy, CTE, to alcohol abuse, to the challenges of global celebrity in this CBJ/114 episode, we discuss many interesting aspects of Hemingway's life and mind. For decades his death and life challenges have remained so inexplicable because they occurred in times of ineffective brain diagnostic technology, only about 56 years ago. * Photo by Mariya Georgieva on Unsplash - Lake Como Hem's Medical TragedyThen, even at the esteemed Mayo Clinic, the extant standard of care overlooked Hemingway's brain challenges as biologically relevant, measurable or correctable. Upon careful review, stigma and celebrity kept him from going to Menninger's [a nationally esteemed psychiatric evaluation/treatment facility] for his depression, as he could appear more medical for the purported reason of hypertension at the medical Mayo Clinic. His celebrity kept him away from improved psychiatric care. It's reassuring to confirm how we've come such a long way in our understandings of brain injury in just a few years. 14 Dec 2017 | 177 Depression Treated Inaccurately & Excessively – Lewis | 00:38:43
I Had to Take Control Of My Life - A Therapist Who CrashedI was told I was to blame for my sorry state. ~ Craig Lewis Craig Lewis - On imprecise treatment for depression - a therapist who crashed hard: "While I was in the deepest depths of severe medication withdrawal, I was, quite shockingly, forced out of work in my local mental health community, for accurately reporting the unethical conduct of a colleague working with vulnerable and victimized adults. Mistreatment for the subsequent depression almost completely ruined my life. This effort resulted in nearly everything and everyone I loved and cared about disappearing from my life. This event created the most devastating, lonely and hurtful period of my adult experience. I was forced to heal myself in secret without many knowing or even caring to know. I resorted to begging for basic needs, food, healthcare and to feed my cat, as I could not get any work. I was told that I was to blame for my financial challenges. However, the facts tell a very different story." His PurposeCraig is back from misdiagnosis and mistreatment and wants to share his serious reconstruction. His street-wise cognitive suggestions are helpful on multiple levels. This is a story of a man who believes in straightforward thinking, reports the truth, and who is grateful to move further into recovery. He can respond in reasonable ways to very unreasonable situations and circumstances and transforms these experiences into improved, contributory functioning in spite of his tragedies. Too often medications for depression miss the mark - especially when underlying measurable biomedical challenges can be easily identified. His Book On Recovery"This book helps those aspiring toward recovery and wellness and also those in recovery because it addresses and challenges the individual - in very real, basic and honest ways - to make significant cognitive adjustments in how they live their lives. The beauty of this workbook curriculum is that people like to do it and don't consider it a chore, a demand, or a requirement because every page subtly encourages the individual to think in realistic and forward-moving ways. This allows them to feel good about doing the work." *Photo by Warren Wong on Unsplash -----------Websites Connection http://betterdaysinternational.net ----------Additional Insights on Depression and PTSD From CBJ Guests

23 Jan 2018 | 188 The Neurobiology of Food Addiction – Leppo | 00:47:04
Food Addiction - The Neurobiology of FoodA lot of people are afraid of heights. Not me, I'm afraid of widths. ~ Steven Wright Micheal Leppo is a food addiction coach on a mission to address diet, weight loss, and self-management through understanding the neurobiology of food, called the You Will Succeed Program. His program is a 22-week video program that explains, provides coaching, and mentors client’s regarding how to achieve health and life benefits whilst managing food intake. Please note that this program is more than just a weight loss program. It’s a program that is designed to help one live a longer, healthier, more successful life. Personal Notes On Michael"I am a passionate coach who has studied how food (notably processed GMO's, sugar-laden and high carb foods) controls your brain. These fatty foods excite the reward circuit in the brain which in turn release the neurochemical dopamine. Food directly connects with neurobiology. This release of dopamine provides one with a feeling of pleasure on several levels. Eventually, the continued overeating of these types of food desensitizes the feeling of pleasure the dopamine originally provides, which in turn explains in part why one has to eat more and more to regain the feeling of pleasure. These dopaminergic challenges provide an understanding of why someone cannot eat 'only one cookie.'” His Recovery Process"What I set out to do and have achieved is to re-wire the brain to crave only healthy foods. Now, my brain is 99.999% re-wired only to want foods that help my body/engine run at optimal levels." The direct result of re-wiring his own brain includes:

01 Feb 2018 | 191 Childhood Trauma – Recovery & Mastery – Brown | 00:33:45
Childhood Trauma: Tools For Mastery and RecoveryVernon Brown - Reports that when considering childhood trauma: "everyone is looking for the magic key that will unlock their happiness, not realizing that we’ve evaded that key all of our lives. We take it for granted, getting caught up in the minutia of life, failing to stop and smell the roses and appreciate the things that are important to us. I believe your experience truly begins when you make happiness a tangible commodity that is non-negotiable. Why is your happi vital to me? - Because happiness evaded me most of my young life based upon my own childhood trauma. It wasn’t until I reached adulthood that I understood the value of joy, which is somewhat a backward experience. Many people experience the wonders during a childhood of imagination and innocence - and then find that they to lose it as they grow older. Not me. Childhood wonder and innocence was foreign to me from the outset." In this Episode Vernon articulately tell us how he overcame childhood trauma, found internal happiness and uses that discovery process to help others. Vernon's Childhood Trauma Reviewed"Before the age of 10, I’d experienced varying degrees of death, overdose, and abuse in my environment of repeated childhood trauma. I knew my mother loved me but she did not make smart decisions to benefit her family; she was more wrapped up in pursuing what she wanted instead of what we needed. As a result, we moved around a lot. My mother’s lifestyle alienated relationships with family and close friends, forcing us to exist in a silo, isolated from everyone else. It didn’t help that I was an awkward kid, overweight and just out of place. My family circumstances caused people to look down on me. The result? I felt less than, broken and invisible. One pinnacle moment stands out in my memory as a young boy. As the school bus pulled in front of my house to let me off, I noticed all my things from room lying in the street in front of my home. We’d been evicted and now everyone knew it. Everyone laughed at me, and I wanted to disappear. I could not understand what I could have done to deserve this life. I hated myself, not my mom - I hated me. Recovery Perspective - Parenting MattersWhen you shatter a vase on the floor, it takes time to pick up the pieces and put it together. And, once it is put together, it’s never the same; it’s now more fragile than it was, to begin with. I was that shattered vase. My grandmother was the glue that helped me begin to put pieces together when I moved in with her. She showed me how to be a child, something I’d never really known. My childhood trauma experiences taught me how to observe people, mostly as a defense mechanism to protect myself. My awkward stage extended into adulthood. I did not grow into the person I am today until I turned 20. At that point, I learned that being happy is not something life gives you; you have to seize it for yourself and manage it. Lessons From PainThat’s one of the biggest challenges people face today; some allow others to hold the puppet strings on what makes them happy. I share my story with you because I want you to know that no matter your circumstances, you have the power to claim happiness for yourself. My life experience has not only helped me learn the value of happiness for myself, but it has awakened a passion in me to help others claim that freedom for themselves. I work with everyone I encounter to experience a revision, perception correction regarding their view of themselves. Action MattersI help others move out of crisis mode and more objectively reassess themselves. When you discover

This is the second CBJ guest interview with Dr. Woeller after his excellent first discussion regarding biomedical measurement strategies for autism and treatment failure, linked here: CBJ/140 As an original Defeat Autism Now! (DAN!) referral physician, he has years of experience in researching and implementing advanced biomedical interventions for individuals with autism. His extensive network of educational websites, books and webinars provide parents of individuals on the autism-spectrum, as well as physicians and other healthcare providers treating autism, access to an abundance of important information regarding biomedical intervention measurements and treatment strategies. To have direct interaction with Dr. Woeller right away you can subscribe to his biomedical autism website at AutismRecoverySystem.com. There you can post questions in the Parent Forum which Dr. Woeller will answer directly. He is also available for private consultations through his office including phone and Skype (internet) appointments. 08 Feb 2018 | 193 Mental Toughness For Women Leaders – Quy | 00:44:58
Mental Toughness For Women - And MenHe who conquers others is strong; he who conquers himself is mighty. ~ Lao Tzu LaRae Quy was an FBI counterintelligence and undercover agent who exposed foreign spies and recruited them to work for the U.S. Government. A good FBI counterintelligence investigation uncovers new information about the spy to gain deeper insights into what influences their behavior and attitudes. LaRae’s job was to dig beneath the surface, probe the unknown, and discover their real identity in spite of their obvious attempts at subterfuge. In the process, she ended up knowing more about the foreign spy than they knew about themselves. LaRae was born and raised on a cattle ranch in Wyoming where she learned many of the survival skills she would need as an FBI agent. After twenty years as an undercover and counterintelligence agent, LaRae became the spokesperson for the FBI in Northern California for four years. Although the job description had changed, she used the same set of communication skills to present both a compelling message and positive image of the FBI. Listen up for deep international applications with down-home street smarts. She Became TougherMental toughness is the birthplace of personal leadership development. It is the ability for each person to look inward and find solid ground when the going gets tough. Strong minds identify productive patterns of behavior so they can become successful in areas that are important to them. Once individuals understand their behavioral patterns, they can choose to respond from a place of strength when confronted with risk and uncertainty in unpredictable situations. Mental toughness is not something you’re born with; it is a quality that you can develop with experience and coaching by:

After growing up in the forensics field, and serving a short time in the military, Mozelle opened her coaching practice in 1987 and became the first person in modern history to create a personality-changing, brain-based program through using one’s handwriting to change personality characteristics. Since that time, Mozelle's career as a forensic handwriting expert continued to grow rapidly. She then moved into consulting for law enforcement agencies around the world, and regularly serves as a legal consultant and an expert witness. Her Media ExperienceThroughout her career, Mozelle has been featured on international radio and television programs, and in print media. She has been a consultant for Criminal Minds, has given commentaries to media outlets such as ABC, NBC, Crime Watch Daily, TruTV, is a former newspaper columnist, and morning shows regular. She is a member of the Mental Health Awareness Coalition and the National Organization for Women and is a Board Member of the Council of Families for Children. 13 Mar 2018 | 202 East Asian & Functional Medicine Connections – Varga | 00:41:16
East Asian & Functional Medicine ConnectionsDr. Laura D Varga, DAOM. Chapel Hill, NC. She lived on both the East and West Coasts. She worked in research at UPENN and UCSD, holds a top US degree in East Asian Medicine [EAM], DAOM [Doctorate Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine] from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. She's worked with patients since 2010. After five years practicing on my own in East Asian and then adding functional medicine, she is best at seeing the big picture - combining the holistic view of East Asian Medicine with my research background. "I love and am in awe of nature - hiking with my dogs, sailing, swimming in the ocean. I cannot believe it took me five years to see the big picture. I have learned a lot from your guests on CBJ and wanted to give back. In East Asian Medicine mental/emotional health is inextricably linked to physical health." A Personal Note From Laura"Feeling sick and tired? I know what that is like! Throughout my life, I have had varying illnesses on the autoimmune spectrum that required me to reach beyond conventional, reductionistic medicine into the world of holistic medicine to heal. From the age of 6 to 25, I had severe allergies and asthma with debilitating bronchitis each Fall. I used pharmaceuticals to mitigate my symptoms and despite seeing several allergists, eating well and exercising I did not heal. Fortunately, I was later able to recover with the help of an East Asian Medicine physician. I have had other conditions caused by excess inflammation. I know what it is like to have chronic and acute pain and wake up day after day feeling exhausted and achy - sort of like you have mild flu. Before earning my clinical doctorate at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, I felt adrift and alone in my healthcare. My different practitioners didn't communicate with each other and some told me that the way the other practitioner was diagnosing and treating me was useless, detrimental or wrong. I was scared because I didn't know what to do. Tests would come back normal. I was lost." The Outdated Bifurcation of Medical Practice - Operational Connections Matter"Everything I read on supplements seemed confusing and overwhelming (this was despite graduating with honors from an Ivy League school - the University of Pennsylvania and working for years in clinical research!). I tried several different diets, with variable, unpredictable outcomes. Then finally, after studying East Asian Medicine and later Functional Medicine, ah-hah, now I have the combined, comprehensive tools to see how my biomedical vulnerabilities are all connected and treat them!" *Photo by Parker: Virginia Museum of Fine Arts - The Terracotta Army Exhibition 3-18 --------------Website & East Asian Relevant Medical References

20 Mar 2018 | 204 Sexual Sovereignty & The Sensual Woman – Desilets | 00:46:26
The Sensual Woman: Women Claim Sexual SovereigntyIn a society that benefits from your self-doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act. Hamash Alidina Saida Désilets, Ph.D. A thought-leader and speaker on the growing edge of researching ways women can use their minds, bodies, and spirits to create richer lives through their sensual selves, Saida serves as a guide to women who believe in transformation as a lifelong path of learning, discovery and walk to freedom - and rediscovery of the sensual woman within. Her narrative starts in painful circumstances. It was a violent rape that nearly cost Saida Désilets her life that put her on this path. Self-described as a “street-savvy, equipped with feisty farm-girl strength and the grace of a dancer,” she was by no means naïve. In fact, this French Canadian native was raised on a First Nation’s reservation in Manitoba where sexual abuse of children, teens, and young women was common. Her Unexpected TragedyYet, despite seeing these open transgressions, she never expected to be so violently attacked by a man she was actually dating. The shocking violation left her in such excruciating physical and emotional pain and damage that, upon waking up after emergency surgery, she was told she had only two weeks to live. Consider this - you don't have to experience rape, sexual trauma, or specific disrespect to learn from Dr. Désilets. This very interesting interview addresses the evolution of women thinking about their own strengths and more private issues with sexuality - their own sexual reawakening. *Photo by Matthew Henry on Unsplash ------------- Website, Book & Video Commentaries

03 Apr 2018 | 208 Tools For Transitions Beyond Narcissism – Mitchem | 00:41:19
Tools For Transitions Beyond Narcissism - Yes, Reality ChangesKathryn Mitchem is a Mind-Body Transition Expert and Coach. She works one on one, in groups, and through a variety of online programs such as Divorce 9-1-1 and The Worry Detox with people facing harsh transitions such as divorce, career change, health challenges and other midlife messes. She supports her clients as they learn to navigate through the complicated emotions and ongoing worry that arises with unexpected change and crisis. Kathryn teaches lifestyle tools including Yoga and Meditation for immediate use in ten minutes or less to help to cope with the extreme stress and uncertainty that these changes bring. Her tools provide a renewed ability to see more clearly what the next step is in each process and to move forward with a sense of improved internal trust and self-reliance. We invited her for this interview to share her easily available street options for improved next steps. Her Specialty: Recovery From Life Downstream From A Terminal NarcissistShe coaches women on successfully breaking ties with a Narcissist. The most deceptive challenge with narcissistic entitlement is their passivity, their nuance of seductive vulnerability whilst planning to use your good will to advance their own interests. Another point often overlooked, is their fascination with scalability, big numbers. They chase their scalable dragons and eat you for dinner while they smile over your eviscerated heart. Big numbers are their real partner, not you. Success is the identity they chase, and they always forget who helped them when they arrive. They hint that they will take you with them, but all the apparent signs of thoughtful connectedness only become part of their self-serving game. *Photo by Ian Froome on Unsplash Ed. Note: Own YourselfRemember that your pain, your unhappiness, is a gratification to their reductionistic, self-serving and internally starving brain. Your obvious vulnerability makes them more secure. They make it look like nothing is happening as their next work is to take your entire identity and refocus your goals on their own comfort, money, success, public image. Also, remember that the reason you stay is quite simple: you think you can help them. Up close their vulnerability is palpable to you, and your fix-it drive strives to save the day - until you look up because your head was severed off and is rolling down the road. Then you wake up. Pain becomes your most effective teacher. When the student is ready the lesson appears. ~ Charles Parker - Deep Recovery Further, remember that narcissism is not gender-specific. It doesn't just live in the minds of men and husbands, it can also arise downstream from women friends - and a wife. 10 Apr 2018 | 210 Lectins & Plant Paradox – Foods & Health – Gundry | 00:41:10
A Heart Surgeon Heals Guts Through Lectins ScienceSteven Gundry MD, discusses his new, very interesting book The Plant Paradox on the challenges with lectins and leaky gut leading to brain challenges, weight gain, and emotional unpredictability. He has discovered unconventional truths about lectins & human nutrition. The Gundry MD philosophy is a radical departure from the traditional dietary “wisdom” which has failed so many Americans over the past few decades. His research may offer a breakthrough for those who have struggled for years with energy levels, chronic body maladies, and overall health. If you’ve tried everything and nothing has worked - Dr. Gundry would like to offer you peer-reviewed hope. He's done his homework. Photo by Monkgogi Samson on Unsplash Lectins: The Gundry Perspective EvolvesFor over thirty years, he practiced as one of the world’s pre-eminent experts in heart surgery. My experiences took me to new frontiers of medical science. He was a driving force behind major breakthroughs in medical technology and surgical procedures – breakthroughs that revolutionized the way doctors save lives. But back in 2001, while he was Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Loma Linda University, he was asked to treat a chronically ill, overweight patient. This man was considered a hopeless case, someone who couldn’t be helped even by surgery. But “hopeless cases” have been a specialty of mine over the years, and he was willing to take on this man’s challenge when no one else would. Dr. Gundry discovered that the patient had actually reversed his heart-threatening symptoms – symptoms he was told were inoperable – with nothing but a combination of natural, dietary nutrients. This led him to pursue further research of his own. The conclusions he made were unmistakable… and they led directly to the foundation of GundryMD.com. New Microbe Rules Apply"The key to strong, sustainable health lives in all of us arrives in the form of beneficial microbes. These “good bacteria” are in danger of dying out, due to dietary and environmental issues that overload our systems with threatening “bad” microbes. Once you begin taking care of your “good” microbes – or, as I like to call them, “your gut buddies” – you can begin an incredible transformation." ControversyDr. Gundry provides exceedingly interesting detail on his views regarding lectins and other foods that may cause harm in this interview. His views may be controversial for some, and yet they appear to significantly contribute to healing or he couldn't document these observations with hard data. His explanations matter. Medical experts in the nutrition industry strongly support his work. Skeptical? Stay tuned here at CBJ, we will address both sides of this interesting issue. His work is quite interesting, as you will appreciate during this interview, but others do disagree. [It appears that this new information could result in a Gut-Galileo Moment!] --------------------- What is the study of Holobiotics? It’s the concept that guides Dr. Gundry’s “Diet Evolution” system, and all the supplements and products he’s designed to support it. It’s based on the belief that true health only happens when you’re living in a state of cooperation with the trillions of tiny microbes...

Many lower organisms can replace lost or damaged organs and tissues that are identical in structure and function to the original, effortlessly regenerating a wide variety of living tissues, including spinal cords, limbs, hearts, eyes, and even parts of their brains. Similarly, many of these same species possess fascinating skills for repairing and reversing the cellular and genetic damage. Cancer, as an example, is found to be extremely rare in species displaying an efficient regenerative mechanism, even under the action of potent carcinogens. In many cases, when cancer does occur, tumors have been found to remodel and integrate into their surroundings spontaneously, as healthy tissue. Some of these organisms can age, and then return to a youthful state later on in life. Some can even die and be reborn." Photo by Artak Petrosyan on Unsplash Reference Details For MTT: Article AbstractMicrobiota Transfer Therapy alters gut ecosystem and improves gastrointestinal and autism symptoms: an open-label study. Publication Microbiome - Jan. 23, 2017 Author(s) Dae-Wook Kang, James B. Adams, Ann C. Gregory, Thomas Borody, Lauren Chittick5,15, Alessio Fasano, Alexander Khoruts, Elizabeth Geis, Juan Maldonado, Sharon McDonough-Means, Elena L. Pollard, Simon Roux, Michael J. Sadowsky, Karen Schwarzberg Lipson, Matthew B. Sullivan, J. Gregory Caporaso and Rosa Krajmalnik-Brown BackgroundAutism spectrum disorders (ASD) are complex neurobiological disorders that impair social interactions and communication and lead to restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped patterns of behavior, interests, and activities. The causes of these disorders remain poorly understood, but gut microbiota, the 1013 bacteria in the human intestines, have been implicated because children with ASD often suffer gastrointestinal (GI) problems that correlate with ASD severity. Several previous studies have reported abnormal gut bacteria in children with ASD. The gut microbiome-ASD connection has been tested in a mouse model of ASD, where the microbiome was mechanistically linked to abnormal metabolites and behavior. Similarly, a study of children with ASD found that oral non-absorbable antibiotic treatment improved GI and ASD symptoms, albeit temporarily. Here, a small open-label clinical trial evaluated the impact of Microbiota Transfer Therapy (MTT) on gut microbiota composition and GI and ASD symptoms of 18 ASD-diagnosed children. ResultsMTT involved a 2-week antibiotic treatment, a bowel cleanse, and then an extended fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) using a high initial dose followed by daily and lower maintenance doses for 7–8 weeks. The Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale revealed an approximately 80% reduction of GI symptoms at the end of treatment, including significant improvements in symptoms of constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, and abdominal pain. ConclusionsThis exploratory, extended-duration treatment protocol thus appears to be a promising approach to alter the gut microbiome and virome and improve GI and behavioral symptoms of ASD. Improvements in GI symptoms, ASD symptoms, and the microbiome all persisted for at least 8 weeks after treatment ended, suggesting a long-term impact. Similarly, clinical assessments showed that behavioral ASD symptoms improved significantly and remained improved 8 weeks after treatment ended. Bacterial and phagedeep sequencing analyses revealed successful partial engraftment of donor microbiota and beneficial changes in the gut...

26 Apr 2018 | 215 Autism Markers & New Data Targets – Woeller-2 | 00:49:47
Autism Spectrum Markers: Expert Opinion On Biomedical Testing For ASDYou can have data without information, but you cannot have information without data. ~ Daniel Keys Moran Dr. Kurt N. Woeller became a biomedical autism specialist many years ago in 1998. An original Defeat Autism Now! (DAN!) Referral physician, he has years of experience in researching and implementing advanced biomedical interventions based upon autism spectrum markers from laboratory testing, for individuals suffering from autism spectrum challenges. He now works as the Autism Outreach Clinical Director for Great Plains Laboratories in addition to his interesting treatment and training practice linked next. His extensive network of exceedingly helpful educational websites, books and webinars provide parents of individuals on the autism-spectrum, as well as physicians and other healthcare providers treating autism, access to an abundance of valuable information regarding the latest biomedical intervention systems. Ed. Note: This Dr. Woeller interview is the second in this CBJ Autism Series, and republished from our earlier CBJ interview because of its essential value to both parents and professionals on many levels. *Photo by Mark Tegethoff on Unsplash Connections To Understand More About Autism Spectrum MarkersProfessionals: To engage in direct interaction with Dr. Woeller you can subscribe to his biomedical autism training website at AutismRecoverySystem.com - an in-depth resource for both professionals and parents. Public: You must participate in Dr. Woeller's other recent mentoring program, The Autism Global Summit - AGS - an outstanding group of professionals who team up to discuss biomedical applications and informed, practical understandings in everyday life for those suffering from Spectrum Disorders. Thanks, Dr. Woeller for inviting me as a Guest Speaker on AGS to discuss the almost taboo subject of psychiatric medications for Executive Function and ASD issues for your interested audience at the Autism Global Summit. My uncomplicated point at AGS: If we aim to treat the entire Spectrum, then specific medications can help - if used correctly. The reason for so much medical treatment failure with those trying to treat ASD issues with psych medications is at once simple and complex: overt denial of underlying biomedical impediments that interfere both with meds and supplements. Consider, for example, the pervasive national denial with ubiquitous IgG issues. Because so much of ASD often does involve Executive Function why not put that subject on the table? At AGS I discussed the most pervasive problem in psychiatric diagnosis and treatment today: Cognition, Executive Function Diagnosis, and Medical Treatment including Biomedical Interventions. Dysregulation of Executive Function with Cognitive Desynchronization does exist beyond the labels and appearances of ADHD. Due to the metabolic challenges with ASD, one must understand the medical parameters and options to intervene as correctly and comprehensively as...

Connections Between Gut, Earth & Brain Improve Treatment OptionsYou carry Mother Earth within you. She is not outside of you. Understanding HowThis discovery als0 resulted in a revolutionary class of dietary supplements, including their product, Restore. 17 May 2018 | 221 Essential Tremor & High Frequency Ultrasound – Smith | 00:23:25
Essential Tremor Responds to High-Frequency UltrasoundSteve Smith (his real name) owns a small technology reseller and has been dealing with Essential Tremor - ET - a widespread but little-understood condition, for over ten years. It impacts his quality of life daily, as he struggles to drink a cup of coffee, hold a screwdriver and type. Last year, his symptoms worsened, and his golf play deteriorated to the point where he could no longer compete. As you will hear in his report he couldn't hold a club. High-Frequency Focused Ultrasound - For Essential TremorThen one year ago, in March, Smith underwent a new non-invasive procedure approved by the FDA just last year. Suddenly, his hand wasn't shaking any longer. Of Note: More than eight million people suffer from Essential Tremor and other movement disorders, but many remain undiagnosed and ineffectively treated. This avid golfer loves to share his story with others - it's truly inspirational. Also called High Intensity Focused Ultrasound - HIFU - Steve was treated in New York by Dr. Michael Kaplitt. Note: We have Dr. Kaplitt scheduled as a CBJ Guest quite soon, and his interview will come through our publishing schedule about a month from this CBJ/221 publication date. See more info on Dr. Kaplitt below, and stay tuned for that interesting conversation. One question I plan to review with him is the subject of the application of HIFU for Parkinson's. About Essential TremorIn addition, ET is hereditary, and in Steve's family was passed down by his mother. His brother and sister both suffer from ET. Essential Tremor started to show when he reached the age of 50. He's now 62. Essential Tremor occurs while doing normal things, for example, holding a cup of coffee, holding a fork or spoon to eat, etc. In particular, Essential Tremor became obvious in his golfing, putting and while at rest with the club in his hand. Smith reports, "It's very difficult to putt when your hands shake." His Doctor, Dr. Michael Kaplitt, MD, Ph.D. Reports on HIFU"Yesterday I became the first doctor in New York to perform an exciting new procedure on a patient with essential tremor, using high-intensity focused ultrasound to target the source of the tremors. I’m happy to report that the patient did extremely well, and the surgical team watched throughout the procedure as his tremor diminished visibly before our eyes. Focused ultrasound takes advantage of a technology that has been successfully used to treat uterine fibroids and breast and prostate cancer, but of course, any procedure involving the brain is far more complicated than treating any other part of the body. Ultrasound waves have been shown to be benign in the body, but they normally scatter when passing through the skull. The new procedure relies on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to pinpoint the exact location in the brain responsible for the tremor, then uses MRI guidance to focus the many ultrasound waves on that location. In yesterday’s procedure, the patient was fitted with a helmet that held an array of 1,000 sources of ultrasound energy, each beam so small and low-energy that it passed harmlessly through healthy brain tissue on its way to the lesion that was causing the tremor. When all 1,000 beams reached that lesion together in one tightly focused treatment pulse, the combined energy destroyed the lesion — without damaging any healthy brain tissue. All of this was accomplished without a knife or an incision. My team and I mapped out the target and then monitored the procedure as MR thermometry measured the temperature at the target site;... |
