16 Mar 202331: Never Ever Waste Your Pain with Maxine M. Totoe01:16:17

Today, Maxine shares her journey as a mother of three, a wife, a career woman, a child of God, a daughter, sister, and friend who has endured life struggles from miscarriage to raising a child with special needs. She gets your heart hoping again if you’ve ever been in a situation where the image you once held as an ‘ideal’ no longer presents itself as that ‘ideal’ in your life. She also advocates for special needs families and encourages all of us to support Kyle by visiting 22q.org to learn more about the foundation. You can follow her on instagram at missmaxy and also on LinkedIn.

Dear sister, I want you to lean in because Maxine’s story will have you examining your heart and asking this question “am I good with God?” because when the storms roll, you need an anchor! As you listen, here are a few takeaways:

  • At a certain point in your walk through this life, you’ve got to OWN your faith
  • Understanding and pursuing God requires you to encounter Him for yourself
  •  There comes a time when you must realize you aren’t a victim of your circumstances
  • If it is on your heart, best believe it is on God’s heart too
  • Remember faith, hope, and love and live your life in all seasons
  • God can be that missing link for you whenever you feel alone in your journey
  • Doing the inner work makes your heart good with God

Being married and FREE starts with you and God, knowing what your authentic godly self is and who God is asking you to become in the relationship. 29 Jun 2023S3 EP46: How to Pray for Your Fre/Enemies00:29:09

Have I prayed every single one of these prayers for my enemies? Honestly and candidly, no, this is a work in process and progress. There is no rush and because we are working with souls and not wood. There are repeated cycles of thoughts that must be broken and or reconstructed about life experiences. So don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying just do this because you have to, I am encouraging you to make this part of your godliness and practice because it heals, it helps, it sets your heart free! Take these one step at a time for steps 1 through 4, and then each prayer one at a time. Some days you may be compelled to pray about blessings, another time you may want to pray for their salvation. No matter where you are convicted and compelled to start, just start and leave the outcome to God.

Here are Three Thoughts:

  • Enemies, frenemies: note that enemy is rooted in hate which has a branch to envy and jealousy, frenemy is rooted in resentment which also has a branch to envy and jealousy. Both carry symptoms of unhealthy comparisons and rivalry which your mind grabs on to and creates unhealthy connections. While the fight and burden may feel physical, the true enemy started spiritual first and seeps into the mental, emotional, and physical.

  • When you pray imprecatory psalms, do so from a posture of humility, compassion and surrender to how the Lord would vindicate you not how you want the Lord to proceed on your behalf. Focus on your heart posture and invite the Lord’s holy work in you, pray and forget. God will do what He does… best

  • Take your time exploring where your heart is in each season when you encounter conflicts, disagreements with people. Your process must begin in love and end in love. It is hard to do this when our heart is hurt and burdened but when you pray out the junk in there, it creates room for God’s saving, abiding grace and love to fill it. You can stand anywhere and be overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit that you begin blessing your enemy, frenemy. This practice takes time and intentionality to cultivate, notice and celebrate the small wins and progress.

30 Mar 202333: Use Your P.E.R.K.S00:26:07

How you live out your purpose in life is about finding meaning. How you relate to others and the impact, influence, impressions made, is about finding meaning. How you manage and succeed in your career, jobs, work, professions, is about finding meaning. How you walk with God, or not walk with God is about finding meaning. How you live your life, is all about meaning. Finding the meaning, knowing  the meaning, experiencing the meaning, embracing the meaning and choosing to accept it.

Running your race in life? Dear Sister, I want you to think of these PERKS and let them help you run your race, that race well. I hope this message encourages your heart to continue using the PERKS you already have as you navigate difficult moments in life. And if you don’t have any of these or need to develop them, it's never too late to seek that coach, mentor.

Three Thoughts

  1. You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. That strength is the joy you have in the Lord. It is your strength. Take delight in Him and pursue Him even when the going gets tough. I did not know him in my formative years as I do now and I thank Him for turning my heart back to His heart.
  2. When the going gets tough, drink water, mind your business and enjoy the scenic routes [laugh] There might be a detour here and traffic stops there… however the train is moving, make sure that you do not exit the train. It is your train and people will get on and off but you, you stay put and allow the conductor to help you navigate and route the train toward its destination.
  3. Use your PERKS every day! Whichever one is needed, don’t shy away from them. Perseverance says “I can do it”, Endurance says “I am brave”, Resilience says “I can get back up”, Knowledge says “I am a student of a godly life” and Surrender says “I do not know it all so I yield to the One who does”.

30 Oct 2024S6 EP92: Practical Spiritual Friendships with Willkenia, Yolanda, Trena and Dionna01:03:58

I recently saw a YouTube video cover that stated that “adult friendships are hard” with the word “hard” typed in bold red colored fonts. It did exactly what it was intended for - it caught my attention. I smirked and scrolled past the video. Why? I did not want to feed my mind with more of the negativity bias  that my natural mind already has worked so tirelessly to overcome. Adult friendships are what they are supposed to be “adult friendships”. Life is lifing, people are evolving and as they change, so would some relationships. The key is how both individuals navigate and mature through the seasons of change; this can possibly mean letting a good relationship go because of your upward mobility in the Kingdom or you’ve outgrown each other. Personally, I do not dwell on the “outgrowing “ phases or even the “seasons” phases; I just walk with those I call friends and remain loyal until there is a shift and a drift or a rift. In any of these three, I have had my share of mistakes in how I handled them but thank God for spiritual maturity. I have learned so much along the way, amidst hurt and betrayal, I still have an open heart for embracing people in my heart.

What does a faithful friend mean to you?

How do you show up in your friendships during difficult seasons?

How often do you pray for your friends?

Who in your life would you consider a friend, an associate, an assignment?

What is the difference between equally yoked friendships and unequally yoked friendships?

I sat down with my friends and the Executive team of this ministry for a great conversation on practical spiritual friendships: being a praying friend and not a preying friend. One draws your heart closer to Jesus in your communication and relating and the other is there to draw from you, drain you and if you are not careful or aware, compromise your holiness. So, enjoy this sisterly friendly conversation and remember healed people heal people, so go out into the world and heal someone today.

Be a praying friend!

04 Dec 2024S6 EP95: Mastering Gentleness Through Surrender - Gina Ospina [FOTS]01:04:32

This episode needed no introduction from me because we had to jump right into the topic at hand. Gentleness is needed in all types of relationships and Gina Ospina is THE godly woman chosen to deliver some wisdom to all our hearts.

Gina Ospina is a daughter of the Most High, wife of Rafael for 34 years and mother of Laura, Jackie and Gabby. Together with Rafael they provide leadership for the Marriage Ministry at Victory World Church at the Norcross Campus. She is passionate about biblical community and discipleship as well as equipping the saints for the work of the ministry. Her greatest joy is to spend quiet time in her sunroom, watching nature and the beauty of God’s creation as well as making and drinking a great latte. She enjoys cooking, reading and talking walks with her family and dogs.

So many golden nuggets, here are some highlights:

  • The ingredients for spirit-led gentleness include humility, patience and compassion.
  • Remember, God is God all by himself and it is best, in tough situations, to start from the premise that God is good.
  • Ask yourself “how do I glorify Jesus in this situation?”
  • Gentleness in its purest definition is “handling people with care, compassion and understanding”.
  • Cultivating gentleness is a command - we must “clothe ourselves” in it.
  • When you try to mold and change someone into something they are not, it can bend or break them.
  • Be gentle and kind with yourself and others.
  • Know the nemesis of your gentleness…

I am so happy that this episode is finally releasing after almost three months post recording. I pray Gina’s words encourage your heart in the season you are in and remember, healed people heal people so spread this healing wherever you go. Do it for the glory of God. Go and be gentle!

30 Nov 2023S4 EP67: The Holy Spirit is Not Powerful Unless - PT8 HT Series01:00:14

Continuing on the Heart Transformation series, we are learning about the human will and God’s will. This episode was a learning moment for me and I hope as you listen you take some time to journal all the coaching questions I ask. The human will is the most powerful force on earth and without our permission, the Holy Spirit remains untapped.

Three thoughts for today:

  • The human will is the most powerful force on earth. The human will is tucked within the mind which is tucked within the soul which is a part of the heart. The human will is the ultimate faculty that actively causes us to do. The human will can be misguided by life experiences, traumas and unpleasant happenings. The human will denies us of the pleasures of walking in holiness because of selfish desires and sin nature. The human will causes us to break our promises and covenants where our will to do is easily affected by our desires for self.

  • To align the human will with the will of God, everything must be set in our hearts - the desire, the motive, the will. Our minds must be renewed on God’s Word constantly enough for our hearts to desire only God’s Truth. If our will is conflicted between the world and God, we will not be able to fully experience obedience in Christ. Our hearts must delight only in the Lord, and verbally confess our desire to obey Him only. The more we confess our sins and profess our desires, our minds renew and that seeps into our hearts. We must allow God’s timing to always be more profound in our waiting than our own timeline. If you are waiting, He knows you need it.

  • Changing a habit does not start with changing a behavior. Changing a habit starts with knowing why you want to change the habit. Knowing your motives and motivations is very important. This first step must be driven deeply into your mind and heart canals to the point of desiring the why. When your heart is settled on the why, you are in agreement with what God is telling you to do, change. Your will to do will shift things as priorities and you will easily begin to accomplish God’s will. The key is to believe with your heart and agree with God.

26 Jan 202324: Yvette Ireland "My Life Interrupted by God"01:03:06

Today’s friend is someone I attended high school with and over the years we have reconnected and gotten closer as sisters in Christ. Her compelling story is one of bravery, surrender, heart of worship, and victory.

Not everyone who was deported from another country gets to return to that country and make lemonade out of lemons. You need to listen because you will be blessed and your heart will thank you. As you listen to the conversation, bear this in mind:

  • Allow the lessons to be taught.
  • Go through challenging seasons and not be broken by them.
  • Don’t take God out of the equation when searching for answers.
  • You are never too spiritual to call yourself a child of God.
  • Decide and choose God everyday.
  • Fellowshipping with God is where you start to believe.
  • Get past the conflict of the body, soul and spirit.
  • When God interrupts, lean forward not backward.
  • Feed your spirit with the Word of God everyday.

09 Mar 202330: The Best Gift You Will Ever Receive00:38:48

So what is time? Time is the limited period within which an action or process takes place. Life exists in time. Reading James 4:14 puts life and time in a sober perspective that we are not to boast about “tomorrow” because “what is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes”. Anytime the loss of someone hits us, we are reminded of this truth. Question then is, 86,400 seconds in a given day, what story is being written about you, who is writing that story and who will read this story, and when they read it, what impact will your story have on them?

Three Thoughts

1. Life is time and time is life. There are three Truths about time which we are blessed to learn about: the gift of time, the reality of time, and the returns or gains received with and in time. Notice they build on each other - first you are given the gift of time, you become aware of the essence of the gift you’ve been given and you maximize your investment in the right way to receive the right returns.

2. Live to make an impact with your legacy. Impression is great and most of the time that's how we meet people. They meet us, they like our interaction or how you made them feel, eventually they buy into your agenda. You show people your heart and they will respond, if the response is not kind, don’t let that change your heart. Heal and keep being you. Remember, your legacy is not separate from you. Your legacy is YOU.

3. An emphasis on maximizing your time: know your priorities and always have a clear view of what they are, and how they align to your purpose. Life happens and we may get stuck, stalled, or stopped for a while. Get back on the drawing board, seek the heart and face of Jesus to know your next step and move forward. Remember, your life lived well in time builds an indestructible legacy.

24 Nov 2022Episode 15: Radiant Joy and Radical Freedom with Caroline Colleen00:54:26

Every sister needs a sister like my guest this week! What do I mean by that? The sister friend who can keep it 100% real but in an eloquent way - she says what needs to be said without the stinging microaggressions. The sister friend that makes you feel seen, heard, known and that you are the only one in the room. There is a friend, a great girlfriend, sister friend for every season and God makes them walk into our lives at just the right moment.

Caroline Colleen, the Mama Champion joins me on the podcast for a sister friend conversation all about being busy mamas, holiday traditions, being authentic and real to yourself and others and living a life full of rhythms. We had a whole conversation before I hit record and you wouldn’t even know we both needed a good Sunday afternoon naps! lol!. I want you to listen to some life lessons, some real talk about being a woman with a life mantra, some wisdom about living on purpose from a joy filled sister! Caroline is a mom of three girls, exuding radiant joy and radical freedom while helping other mamas do the same. Caroline shares her breaking FREE, Breaking through and Breathing again moments as she navigates a rhythmic life on purpose.

Your three thoughts from this conversation:

- You need a life mantra, one that keeps you living on purpose and with purpose

- Pace yourself with your life dreams and goals. Life happens and so if you need to pause and start, pause and start, then do just that. Embrace the freedom to rest and lean into the trials and triumphs you experience in life.

- Have accountability with women that will inspire you to be your best self.

06 Jul 2023S3 E47: The Most Difficult Time in Friendships00:25:36

Grieving is not a one and done affair. For as long as the human race exists and people relate with one another, there will be moments of grief due to the events associated with loss. Anytime you experience a loss, your heart grieves. Some may be subtle and would not require days, weeks, months, years to walk through. Notice I did not use the words ‘heal from grief’. Grief is a continuous journey of slowly laying down what you once held and exchanging that which no longer holds, for something new and different. The experience of grief brings with it change. Change in the person holding the grief as well as change in the people witnessing the grief.

Here are Three Thoughts:

  • Be a praying friend not a preying friend: don’t vanish when the difficult times roll giving the excuse, I don’t know how to handle such situations. That's why you learn and grow… so many ways to do that.

  • You can be a great friend or a good friend. The former is just as attainable as the latter, both represent a heart of faithfulness and commitment but one says you are extraordinary. Choose to be extraordinary.

  • Here is God in moments of suffering and pain: right where He has always been and he knows, he sees and he cares. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer.

26 Jun 2024S5 EP82: Shinny Sutherland - This Love is Patient01:11:15

Shinny describes herself as “one-half” of This Love Works ministry. Married to Karlton for 17 years, Shinny and her hubby Karlton are your Start Again specialists serving couples for the past 7 years. After trying to do marriage their own way, living with unmet expectations and failing miserably, they were introduced to a community that would provide them with the tools that ultimately saved their marriage. Shinny is a mother to two children, a high schooler and a Navy Sailor. Showing her kids what a healthy marriage looks like is a core mission. Together, Shinny and her husband Karlton have learned that their marriage is a reflection of Christ and His bride. Some keywords that makes Shinny standout as a godly woman would be intentional, responsible, and obedience.

In this episode, Shinny’ shares her story of cultivating patience and finding healthy ways of managing and responding to life situations . You will learn from Shinny that:

  • Patience is a peaceful godly character.
  • Dangerous prayers humble our hearts in the presence of God.
  • Forgiveness is part of your journey to cultivating a heart of patience.
  • Patience requires understanding…lots of it and God is the only one who gives understanding [Read Psalm 119].
  • It is important that every godly woman knows who she is and who she has been.
  • Know your emotional indicators, responses, reactions that slowly draws your heart away from the Lord.
  • The fruit of patience can be paired with peace, humility, forgiveness, self-control, the habit of being quick to listen.
  • Refrain from this ungodly habit: complaining.

God’s love is patient and you can be a patient godly woman. Remember, when God is in the situation, and you allow Him to take over, trust that He has truly taken over. That is a love that is patient with you.

Happy 1 year Anniversary to the CTLF Podcast! In this episode, no guests, no fan fare, no extras... just Kate and the Holy Spirit pouring into your heart on how to steward your journey well. 14 Sep 2023S4 EP55: Kyllie's Story Unlimited Joy01:08:24

Traveling across continents during the pandemic, going to Bible college all this based on a prophetic word…who does that? Well my guest this week did because she and her family chose to follow Jesus. Isolating, leaving friends behind, being on the other side of the world… you have no option but to lean in closer to Jesus. Kyllie [with a double L] because she’s balanced [laugh] Kyllie Martin is the Joy Carrier.

Meet Kyllie, a debut author with a passion for storytelling, the Word of God, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. As a wife, mother, and friend, she brings warmth and connection to every relationship she cultivates. A church leader and speaker, Kyllie is passionate about empowering women and seeing the church embrace the fullness of the Kingdom. Recently returning to New Zealand after completing ministry school in California, she is settling back into a slower pace of life and finding inspiration for her subsequent books.  She is enjoying the rich coffee culture, delectable food, and the midcentury modern design of her family home.

As you listen, both Kyllie and I want to encourage you that “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

  • Choose joy, choose gratitude, choose thankfulness mindset.
  • Recognize that there is always more of God and with God - you can have more of Him everyday.
  • Watch, pause and listen because the Lord is speaking all of the time
  • Sometimes the shift that God asks you to make is the life changing transformation you desperately need.
  • Despite all the greatest achievements, when God calls you it is for a relationship, first, before the doing. You get to BE before you DO.
  • The further you walk with the Lord, the more you get pruned.
  • When you are diligent in your spiritual disciplines, you eventually get to a place of relating with God instinctively; you grow beyond practicing simple disciplines.
  • Be excited about moving from the ‘shoulds’ with God to the ‘wants’ and ‘musts’ with God.
  • Learn to recognize God’s voice in your journey, know and trust this voice first.
  • Know the joy killers in your life - these can be subtle to very obvious cues and clues.
  • When you walk with God closely, He will help you get things done… at His pace. If He called you, rest assured that as you obediently work on the process, He ultimately has to make IT happen. Bring your thoughts, fears to God and be honest about the lies you are possibly believing.
  • The Holy Spirit will counsel you to become who God has destined you to BE-COME.

07 Dec 2023S4 EP68: Unleash the Power of Agreement - HT Series Part 901:02:59

The kingdom of God can often be seen as an upside down Kingdom. We see in Hebrews that agreement with God leads to understanding, not understanding God leads to agreement.

Because of their faith -

- Abel was commended as righteous. Agreement establishes our righteousness with God. You are in alignment. You are in obedience and poised to put that faith into action.

- Enoch gained eternal life for agreeing with God. You have peace about your life and where you are going. You simply believe, you accept God as He is from His Word.

- Noah moved in fear toward God’s will not away from God. He gained righteousness and power. You may be afraid or in fear of your healing journey, your transition, your life change, your heart transformation. Move anyway, move in fear toward God.

Listenand learn the complete list of these faithful leaders of God.

15 Jun 2023EP44: Dealing with False Accusations00:29:27

Let's be real, it is not easy walking in peace. The enemy is cunning and will tempt you, God himself will test you and you will have to show yourself approved. It takes daily mental practice and application of what you know. Today’s podcast has given you some tools to build up a godly character as a woman of God. You can do it. Listen, before you even say “but I’m not Jesus”, how about you posture your heart and respond to Him with “I want to imitate you Lord so help me” that is a dangerous prayer and a bold one. If you want to make a difference, dear sister, you have got to be different!

Here are Three Thoughts:

  • Being falsely accused isn’t fun and it can mess with your spirit, soul and body. It can cause unnecessary stress, anxiety and other mental health problems. Whatever you decide to do to rectify the situation, you must believe that God fights for you and sends angels to fight for you.

  • You can begin with prayer and end with praise. You can begin with patience and end with prayer. You can begin with a great attitude and end with a great appreciation. While the world may have your approaching life’s difficulties in your own strength, you are different, a child of God and so you walk with the spirit, and when you do, you do not gratify the flesh.

  • When you find yourself in a situation of defamation, be settled in who you are in Christ. Take on an attitude of victory and allow your heart to rest in the presence of God. Practice pacing your thoughts through prayer and calmness. You know when God says be still, yeah be still and know that He is God.

11 Dec 2024S6 EP97: Part 2 Don't Be Like a City Without Walls - Self-control [FOTS]00:48:32

The fruit of the spirit of self-control, like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, are all matters of the heart. There is never a time where a believer is 100% good at loving others, 100% good at having joy, 100% good at living in peace etc… Cultivation is everyday intentional work. You may not be able to fully master self-control on this side of eternity but it is in your best interest as a child of God to start an intentional heart work.

Three thoughts from this episode:

  1. It is not difficult to be self-controlled but it is difficult to deny self from our cravings, guilty pleasures, vices, desires, wants, gratifications. That is why we do not use behavior modification to address heart habits that take the gentle and constant illumination of the Word of God in our hearts. We cannot be in control of the work and expect the Holy Spirit to be in control. For there to be a mastering of this Fruit, we must allow the Spirit to take control and we obey, even when the obedience means temporary discomfort. Remember, the temporary discomfort shall yield permanent joy of the Lord.
  2. Self-control is deeper and broader than willpower. Willpower can take you to the steps of the staircase but to climb the staircase with focus, precision, perseverance, you need self-control. Packed in that self-control will be patience, gentleness, humility, joy, and freedom. Go after self-control, and don’t give up until you have achieved this goal. It is pleasing to the Lord.
  3. You cannot master self-control without releasing strongholds from your heart and mind. Where there is a yoke of slavery to sin, there is a lack of self-control. And we have all fallen short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came from Jesus Christ. Your heart is not perfect, it is not ok, it needs God everyday. Don’t let the devil deceive you.

Here are some coaching questions to ponder on about Self-control:

  • Do I believe that I can master self-control and be made perfect when I meet Jesus someday?
  • What are my ungodly habits, actions, thought patterns?
  • Which of the ways in cultivating self-control can I begin practicing more of?

27 Apr 202337: Sonya Ingram: The Courage to Fight for My Sanity01:04:25

Sonya describes herself as a child of God, a mom, a dear friend, a survivor, a multiple sclerosis advocate, a US military veteran. I would describe Sonya as a joy to be with…simple. Her smile and bubbly energy lights up your world, really you wouldn’t think she’s been through so much in life. Fifty three years on earth, forty years of suffering and in five short years, God stepped in and wiped her tears away.

You know when you hear the phrase “oh she doesn’t look like what she’s been through”? Yep, that's Sonya and truly allowed Jesus to turn her ashes into beauty! Sonya stepped into the battle with what she had just like King David and allowed God to equip her every step of the way.

As you listen to her journey, here are some nuggets for you:

  • When you have been through trauma, you are never fully aware of the LIFE around you until God makes you aware
  • You feel heard when in the right company of faith
  • God’s timing will always be perfect
  • Sometimes you need a gentle voice and at the same time a wildebeest that is ready to run with you
  • Forgiving your offender is really a gift you give yourself
  • Don’t skip any part of God’s process that He takes you on toward your healing
  • The love of god causes you to love others even through your hurts and pain
  • Remember, the courage to fight, and conquer is always within you

02 Feb 202325: Sixteen Ways to Give & Receive More Love00:33:50

February is the month of love! The best healing medicine there is - love.

"Love shouldn’t hurt. But then it does… sometimes. That is the human in all of us. Like the loss of a loved one, or the disrespect of a child, or the disappointment from a friend, or the rejection from a partner. That hurt is a signal that you are human. When love hurts, there is a place where love can also heal." Here are 16 ways to do just that!

Three Thoughts

1. Life is ever moving and so are the relationships around us. When you put in the effort, the love you give to others can only grow… when it is watered. The essence of what love is rests in your decision to choose love and open your heart to its miraculous possibilities. Receiving love spiritually allows you to give it effortlessly relationally [mentally + physically + emotionally…]

2. When you want to know what love is, try God’s way first. Start with simply the first statement/way “love is patient”. In what ways do you see and experience patience everyday? Take that kindness and share it with someone else. Let good love multiply in your heart and through you.

3. Embrace the possibility of being loved and loving God. This kind of love is not child’s play because as a grown woman, all childish love has been put away. This is not time for hide and seek, this is the time to seek until you find. But it is not passive seeking, it is actively seeking with your whole heart! That's when you will find this love.

11 May 2023S3 E39: Dr. Wilmot-DeSouza: Wear Your Crown with Confidence01:19:22

This episode is a fun opening to season 3 as we talk about wearing your God-given crown with confidence and being empowered to rise. Dr. Nana Wilmot-DeSouza does not mince words sharing about her personal struggles with shame and walking the journey of healing. As a mother to a rising middle schooler and Kindergartner, she understands the assignment as a parent but also as a black female doctor serving diverse groups of people. She has got to have a strong backbone, and hope filled wishbone, the courage to laugh with the funny bone! You hear and sense all of them in our conversation.

As you listen, here are some nuggets for you:

  • God’s plan is better than your plan
  • Sowing is risky business but the outcome is worth it
  • The discipline can feel like a punishment at the time but you will reap a reward if you do not give up
  • God does not know moving from A to Z, He moves A to G to T and back to P, then maybe head to X then O. Enjoy the journey with trust and faith.
  • You must challenge the cultural narratives that dims the light of Jesus in you
  • Remember, you are a masterpiece
  • You must be in the Truth even when you don’t feel like you are walking it well
  • Fear and insecurity can cripple you when you act as your own shepherd. Remember, you have a great shepherd
  • Confidence begins with ‘confide’ which implies trust
  • Walk in the way of love and go in the strength you have
  • Being affirmed is powerful
  • Whenever you hear ‘who you are not’, run to the One who knows who you are and affirms it everyday
  • Never run out of salt, Never dim your light
  • The moment you feel like ‘should’ is comfortable, remember ‘can’ can be so freeing. Move from ‘I should’ to ‘I am’

09 Feb 202326: Important Keys to Adulting 101 with Kate and Friends!00:51:28

Having the mindset to live out your tasks in a way that sparks interest, ignites excitement and although required to live, you feel fully alive when you get them done! Now that is the adulting we all desire and deserve to have. Join Kate and friends and glean from their wisdom on adulting well, a laid back live conversations that speaks to the everyday woman. Enjoy!

Three Thoughts

1. Adulting is more of a mindset than an age to focus on, however, depending on the culture and familial influences, you may take on the mindset of adulting quicker in life than your biological age of development. The key here is being taught life values, principles that you can employ throughout your life. The value of being ‘responsible’ is a core factor in adulting. Responsible for both the mundane as well as the exciting parts of life.

2. Master your life! Embrace life challenges and set your mindset to win! Embracing challenges helps you become a better version of yourself. Resisting the challenges only exacerbates your suffering and disappointments. Learn to process and regulate your emotions. Remember adulting comes in stages so don’t try to figure everything out now. Learn to be flexible with yourself!

3. You do have freedom as an adult. This freedom can be lived in well but you will need to unlearn/unfreeze some things you may pick up along the way, be mindful in the growing pains and processing of unlearning, and be hopeful as you discover new things about yourself and life. Be patient with yourself and others and take the scenic route as you ‘adult!’

17 Aug 2023S4 EP51: Angela's Story: Did God Say That?01:01:01

Angela is a storyteller. A child of God. Wife. Mom. Mentor. Friend. She desires to live in such a way that no matter which one you meet, you will see the Word of Christ dwelling richly in her. Angela is also the founder of Wise Word Ministries, a ministry of teaching & intercession. She is not only called to teach; she is also a fervent intercessor. Understanding the power and effectiveness of praying Scripture is essential to her teaching ministry. She is passionate about teaching and empowering people to know the truth and power of God’s Word that sets them free. Angela hosts Wise Word Wednesdays, and you can visit her website for more information. Website info linked in show notes. Angela spills the Truth and doesn’t mince words.

As you listen, here are some nuggets for you:

  • Let God inspire your heart into transformation
  • Be bold in all of the Lord or none of the Lord; no lukewarmness
  • Believe that the work Jesus did, ended it
  • You don’t have to fight for something that’s already been won at the cross
  • Believe that God is both provision and provider
  • Belief, faith, works…they must go together to feel the essence of God’s blessings in our lives
  • With religion we are transactional mindset, with Kingdom we are relational mindset
  • Anyone you want to know, you spend time with. If you spend more time diligently seeking God, you will believe Him more
  • It is only what God says that you have grace to do
  • If you take God’s Word out of context, you are left with the con
  • You must learn to live the Word not just love it
  • Contentment is being aligned with God’s will for our lives

28 Sep 2023S4 EP57: What is It? The Heart Transformation Series Part 101:06:12

In this part 1 of the Heart transformation Series, we:

Explore the meaning of the Heart and Heart Transformation and why it is very critical to the overall health of a believer. The world needs it but if the world is not believing in God, they will not be ready for this type of healing - the world will choose to embrace behavior modification which is simply a tip of the iceberg of healing the whole person.

Know the state of your heart - what is the heart? What is in it? And become aware that there is a battle - and the battle is for your heart, your mind is a part of your heart. You can change your mind and still have a corrupt heart… when you change the core of your messaging, it will feed into all areas. You change your mind and keep renewing it and over time your heart with transform into what you feed it.

Learn about the role trust and forgiveness play in the Heart Transformation process; these are two important heart check principles for your heart health.

Become aware of the sin factor which will be explored in detail in series 2.

Understand the fundamentals of the heart when in relationship with God.

Three Thoughts for today:

One: Heart transformation begins with a relationship with Jesus. You cultivate this relationship in trust and yielding of your heart in whatever state it is in.

Two: The conscious mind is a part of your heart but there is more to your heart that isn’t readily conscious - your desires, your yearnings, your hurts, your dreams, your emotions, your motives…

Three: Heart transformation is a journey that requires time, Holy Spirit, and a willing teachable humble heart ready to exude the pure fruits of the spirit. You are ready to live true holiness, you are ready to deny self, die to self daily and allow Jesus to lead your life as your Lord.

24 Jul 2024S5 EP84: Akia Campbell - God's Kindness Inspired Me to Shift00:44:00

Akia is a Woman of Faith in Christ, who started off with a mustard seed of faith when she took her first major step in 2015. Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Akia moved to Houston, Texas, in February 2015. Not knowing that her life would be forever changed and transformed for God’s Glory. She is a daughter, aunt, sister, and friend to many. She has walked in the paths of accounting, personal development, life coaching, and various forms of leadership. She is a soon to be published author of her first book The Preparation. As of March 2020, Akia resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

In this episode, Akia shares her story of experiencing God’s kindness in a season of abandonment and how that attribute of God has helped her transform and make major life shifts. You will learn from Akia that:

  • A mustard seed of faith takes you to your blessing
  • You are capable of moving from the ‘job years’ to ‘jubilee years’
  • There is power in our “yes” to the Lord especially during those ‘job years’
  • Your job years of stripping creates spaces for God’s pruning and purification of your heart, mind, soul
  • God’s kindness is choosing us and clothing us in righteousness
  • Kindness is selfless love, an opportunity to be spirit-led
  • Kindness that is spirit-led often moves us out of our comfort zone
  • Assess your story in the presence of the Holy Spirit
  • Meet Jesus daily before you meet others; this way you pour from a full cup within your spirit and soul

Questions to ponder on:

  • How has a spirit-led kindness from another person impacted your life?
  • In moments of discomfort, how can you activate kindness towards others?
  • In what ways is God asking you to show kindness today?

Kindness that is spirit-led positions our hearts to help others and ask questions later. We are quick to obey the prompting even when we are being inconvenienced. Because your whole being is rooted in Christ, you believe that He who has called you to this fruit of Kindness and all other Fruit of the Spirit is faithful, and He will do it. God is your great Provider, sovereign. Show kindness to others even when you don’t understand.

14 Dec 2023S4 EP69: Shaunte Prevot - Level Up Your Generational Blessings01:02:07

Shaunte Prevot is a mom of five beautiful children, a wife of twelve years and a daughter of God. She loves date nights and family nights are a treasure in her heart. I sat down with my good friend to explore aspects of her life and the journey of womanhood. She is a new Author and you can find more about her children’s book “Goodbye Fear, God is With Me” on Amazon. Shaunte is passionate about racial reconciliation.

She believes that Racial Reconciliation starts with US. Loving each other and what makes us different. We’re purposefully made up of an array of colors as Christ intended, all stemming from dirt. God saw everything he made and said it was very good. ALL of us are made in the image of Christ (Genesis 1:26-27). As I challenge myself I also challenge you to speak up and stand out for racial reconciliation in our land. May you be bold and courageous as you speak up and stand with Jesus! Let’s get back to the beginning together.

Here are a few nuggets from our conversation:

  • Be intentional with your words and in seeing your loved ones
  • See difficult seasons in parenthood as seasons
  • When you begin to see Jesus for yourself, your relationships change
  • Your relationship with God is a growing journey
  • Pursue God with your heart, seek His face, spend time with Him
  • You notice a shift in your struggles the more you surrender to Jesus
  • Be prepared to let go of ungodly friendships so as to create space for godly relationships
  • Humility is a powerful trait of a godly woman
  • God sees and knows more about your seasons than you do - trust Him
  • To train godly children, you must allow yourself to be trained by the Holy Spirit
  • Train up: this is an intentional purpose assigned to you by the Lord
  • Think generational blessings as you partner with the Holy Spirit to break generational curses

25 Dec 2024S6 EP99: Going Beyond Our Humanity00:47:52

Merry Christmas! On this day, I have no words that can fully express the gratitude that swells up in my heart when I think of you. I may have met you before or may not have met you…yet… but know that I hold you in my heart and constantly pray for those prayers you present to the Lord everyday. He knows and He is working everything out in you, through you and for you.

In this episode, I teach on three points:

  • Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit in a the world we live in today
  • Addressing the elephant in the rooms of our hearts that often stalls us and prevents us from advancing God’s work
  • Adopting the mindset that puts all other mindsets to shame

I wish you a Merry Christmas, enjoy the episode and lets rejoice in the Lord always. Until next time, choose to be, live, and stay FREE.

20 Mar 2024S5 EP75: Cultivate Divine Love [FOTS]00:49:42
  • Love is defined as walking in obedience to God’s commands. Love is defined as God - God is love. God’s design for love in humanity is that we love Him first so that we can learn from Him how to love ourselves and others. If we do not learn to open our hearts to God and desire His love, moving from a mechanical, transactional relationship to a more intimate, transformational relationship, we will not be fully open to ourselves and to others. We will miss God every time. The type of love we get from the Spirit is agape love, every other kind we express or think we express is counterfeit - Philia, Eros, Ludic etc

  • The truth about love is that, loving others the way Christ wants us to is risky and can be messy. That is why it is risky and messy love. We cannot choose and do it in our own natural humanness. We need the Holy Spirit’s guidance and we must obey Him. If we see Jesus as our Lord and we obey Him, we can forgive, and we can forget, and we can extend grace onto others. Now that is the right ego - you caught that? If your EGO is of the Spirit, you Extend Grace Onto others.

  • Cultivating love is getting back to the attributes of love and allowing God to show you areas of your life where you need change. 1 Corinthians 13 can be your love test. Test yourself by simply asking - am I kind? Am I patient? If you are brave, ask people around you. Don’t be defensive, a true disciple who wants to grow will welcome the feedback and ask God to show her or him the path towards change.

08 Dec 2022Episode 17: When afraid, believe pray and do it anyway!00:26:13

When the vision is so big, I mean very big, that it scares the living daylights out of you, you need a big big big God. In this podcast, you are invited to explore seeds of faith with me as you get to hear the rawest parts of the beautiful tensions I hold in my heart in my faith walk toward embracing all the ways God directs me to. Here are three thoughts for you

Three Thoughts

  • Seeds of faith sown at a younger age, helps your inner child thrive when she grows; however, if for some reason, you did not have that, remember your inner child is still there and you can always help her by believing in the littlest seed you have. Or just borrow a little bit until yours grows.
  • Take time with God because He takes his time with you. Do not rush through the journey. Even if you detour like me, you are disobedient sometimes, like me, or you drag your feet and delay, like me, remember, you have that seed of faith and nothing is impossible.
  • We all have a little bit or a lot of Abram in us. Ultimately, you are blessed and destined to be a mighty fortress in your community, in your family, in your friendship circles, in your small groups, in your church, in the workplace, in the world… take a step towards faith.

01 Dec 2022Episode 16: Joyfully Handling Money Matters with Tania P. Brown01:04:03

The first time I met Tania Brown I was captivated by her confident spirit. Then she started talking about money and my ears perked up even more! I have never met a sister who talks about money like that! And to do it in a godly way that brings honor to the one who provides all our needs is so admirable. But hearing her speak you wouldn’t know that she was a former atheist whose journey with God has only become stronger and sweeter. This podcast episode is about our financial wellbeing, dear sister and also, about Tania’s personal journey of FREEdom, so take a listen.

Tania Brown, an Army veteran, is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and is currently the Director of Financial Coaching. For 20 years she’s taught thousands at multiple Fortune 500 companies how to achieve financial security and build wealth. She's consulted with corporations and tech companies to create products and services to help people of all income levels improve their finances.

She's written and been quoted in several news outlets including Forbes, Business Insider, CNBC, and USA Today, and was a contributing writer on a book on personal finance. She was also the lead researcher on Optimizing Financial Wellness For A Diverse Workforce

When she is not nerding out over the latest budgeting app, Tania is living out her other passions: fostering teens, volunteering, serving at her church, and continuing her never-ending quest to find the best chocolate.

Your three thoughts from this conversation:

- You need to understand that God can do so much more with your 90% so don’t shy away from tithing.

- No matter the obstacles you have experienced or currently experiencing, believe that the better is ahead.

- Know that courage is you throwing up and doing it anyway, whatever that ‘it’ is. So fail often, fail fast, fail scared.

23 Feb 202328: Lori Ann Wood: 3 Key Questions to Ask When Life Detours00:55:43

Today, I have Lori Ann Wood with me to discuss her life altering yet thriving journey when she was diagnosed with heart failure. Imagine functioning on just 6% heart capacity? Lori Ann Wood lives in an empty nest in beautiful Bentonville, Arkansas, with her husband, the love of her life whom she found in 9th grade. Having discovered a serious heart condition almost too late, Lori Ann writes to encourage others to explore their difficult faith questions along the detours of life. You can read more from her at loriannwood.com. Lori’s newly released book [released on February 21st] is available now for order on Amazon and trending as number one new release in Christian and spiritual growth! Congratulations Lori!

Dear sister, I want you to lean in because Lori’s story will have you feeling her breaths as she walks you through three important questions you need to ask when you find yourself on an unexpected life detour. As you listen, here are a few takeaways:

  • Whatever plan you have in life, remember that plan can be disrupted at any moment.
  • Learn a whole lot as you walk the new path and keep asking questions.
  • Pay attention to the unusual physical symptoms and warning signs, they hold the clues to an impending detour.
  • Checking the box with God can make you experience a faith crisis. Heads up, go beyond the check mark and actually sit with Him.
  • If you wait to be grateful, you will still be waiting. Gratitude and grief can co-exists within you.
  • The three questions you need to ask on your detour offer a chance for you to build your faith, acknowledge your doubts, and embrace the fact that you are not in control, and that's OK.
  • Giving yourself grace is the pace you need. Pacing yourself is the grace you need.

26 Nov 2024S6 EP94: The Art of Listening Well - Gentleness [FOTS]01:02:38

Truth be told, without the help of the Holy Spirit, there would not be a CTLF podcast, a Godly Woman & Company ministry, a Daisie family, or even my last born child. I was a hot mess of a prideful angry woman out for vengeance... Gentleness is not being weak. Gentleness is your quiet strength packed with patience, humility, mercy, compassion, and a heart that sees the person before the sin, the mistake, the error.

Gentleness that comes from the Spirit produces a permanent state of being from the heart, meaning it is not fake. You are who you are at home and when with others. You are who you are in traffic and when with your children. When you get angry, you have a way of communicating your points without dehumanizing or belittling the person you are talking to.

Here are three thoughts from today's episode on Gentleness:

  1. We can cultivate a heart of gentleness when we believe that being gentle is possible. If you desire this fruit, it is one that God will answer quickly. He will indeed put you in situations that would require your utmost ability to be gentle. Remember, developing a heart of gentleness is a daily work of art. Allow the potter to do his work.
  2. A gentle person is humble and patient. A patient person is humble and gentle. A humble person is patient and gentle. Remember Jesus said he is humble and gentle, and if you are called to be like Jesus, and the seed of the fruit is in you, then the potential and possibilities are endless. Maybe, you have to change your view of who you think a gentle person is, just as I had to change my view. Once I did that, the journey of cultivating this heart habit wasn’t so bad.
  3. Make it a practice to walk in step with the Holy Spirit, listening for those whispers and nudges. Make it a point to go at the pace of God. Make it a point to be obedient to any direction you receive as you embark on a journey to heal your heart from anger, pride etc. An inability to be gentle has roots in anger and pride; allow the Lord to step in and guide you to your FREEdom.

06 Nov 2024S6 EP93: The Morning After... Navigating Disappointing UncertainTimes00:18:31

On November 9th, 2016, I wrote a blog right after the presidential election that left most citizens shocked! You can read it here. What I wrote in 2016, still stands true today. That is how powerful and timeless the Word of God is, and I stand by those words even louder and firmer today. As you wake up to another morning after, I thought to send something your way to encourage your heart and mind.

Navigating through everyday life can often feel like walking a tightrope, balancing between comfort and the unknown. In light of current events, many people find themselves gripped by fear and concern about what lies ahead. While it’s natural to feel this way, turning uncertainty into an opportunity can significantly enhance your mindset and experiences. Let's explore simple yet effective strategies to find joy in the midst of life’s unpredictable moments.

23 Mar 202332: Stefani Smith: "Dear God, I'm Not Going Anywhere"01:14:37

Stefani Smith is a full-time engineer and first-time author. She is smart, driven, and has a huge heart for people. She believes the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest message ever told and desires for all to know its saving truth. Stefani loves to serve the body of Christ through her local church and has served in several leadership roles for children's, women's, and missions/outreach ministries. She has a passion for studying and teaching God's Word, which is both a gift she prizes and a responsibility she takes seriously. Stefani has been joyfully married to her husband Allen since 2015. She is "Stefmom" to Brentley and biological mom to Silas; both have taught her that being a mother of sons is the absolute best. Stefani enjoys reading, cooking, and dreaming big with her family.

Dear sister, how is your heart with God? Is it good? Can you confidently say you have positioned your heart for this covenant love and life? Embracing all that comes with it? As you listen, here are some nuggets for you:

  • It is always a good practice to become aware of the sins that others chose which impacted you
  • Nurturing your spiritual life is as important as all the other parts of you
  • Lean in to the questions you have about God
  • Your instincts are natural, your insights are spiritual
  • When you have questions, open your heart and mind and open His Word too
  • Get on the path of Truth to discover God for yourself, pursue His love with the questions you have
  • God’s Word is oxygen for your spirit
  • Even when you can’t hold your end of the bargain, God’s got you.
  • The end of one season is not the end of you!
  • Believe that God has a rescue plan for you

10 Jul 2024S5 EP83: This is Your Next Level Kindness [FOTS]00:58:43

Here are three thoughts from today:

- A daily practice of self-reflection will lead your heart to explore how you express goodness and generosity to others in your communities. Kindness is about that goodness, that love expressed. We experience God’s goodness, He wants us to pay it forward.

- There is a difference between being kind and being nice. Also, kindness that places an expected response from the receiver is not a genuine Fruit of the Spirit. And we must be cautious of our heart’s posture when we are offering to do things for people.

- Being kind in friendship is a cherished act of love and we need more of this. Friends that can lay aside their agendas and be there with you and for you. To have a friend like this you need to be a friend like this. The goal is to look to Jesus to teach you how to be that friend and you just be. No expectations, just transformation.

Here are some coaching questions to ponder on about your kindness:

  1. Who has been kind to me lately? How did their kindness make my heart feel?
  2. Who is God drawing my heart to show kindness to?
  3. How can I be more attentive to the Holy Spirit’s promptings to show kindness to people I do not know? How do I show such kindness?

04 May 202338: The Faith Ecosystem: Thermometers and Thermostats00:27:19

Every believer lives in this ecosystem of faith and we all have our faith thermometers, now what would happen if we also utilized our faith thermostat. Set that faith temperature and keep it set?

Three Thoughts

  1. Faith and hope go together like peanut butter and jelly or fried plantains and beans stew! Hope propels your faith and faith ignites your hope.
  2. That faith thermometer, you need to check it often in every situation. And cling to hope too. You are not alone, we all live in this faith ecosystem. Make sure you remain connected to the vine, believe that whatever you are walking through, joy comes in the morning.
  3. You believe now do it. Faith is your heart for God in action. With Him there is no disappointment, there is only faith. Don’t let the enemy deceive you with unfounded thoughts. Perseverance comes from a tried and tested process that when passed, brings forth many great benefits.

29 Dec 2022Episode 20: 7 Practices for a Heart-Centered Wellbeing + Season 1 Recap00:33:38

Kate wraps up season 1 by sharing her 7 practices that kept her heart well throughout 2022 and why she is taking them into 2023. She also shares words of encouragement and wisdom for the wellbeing of your heart and mind.

Three Thoughts

1. Learn to suffer well: momentary, that's what it is.  Better is one day in God’s courts than a thousand elsewhere, especially when you have knowledge of what he can do. Give Him time to work for you and on your behalf. Lamenting is great but do not put on the spirit of grief and live with it like a best friend. In time, let your joy light shine.

2. Learn to appreciate time by maximizing your gifts. Focus on the priorities that actually give you a return on investment. Celebrate milestones and be ready to celebrate for others too.

3. Learn to listen quickly, be slow to respond and slow to get angry. Practice understanding, your heart will thank you.

11 Dec 2024S6 EP96: Part 1 Don't Be Like a City Without Walls - Self-control [FOTS]01:03:31

20 Oct 2022Episode 10: Dear Sister, Evolve!00:29:22

Evolve! I have crafted a three-phased approach you can take when you decide to evolve or as you are evolving. It is never too late! This week’s episode is one I am very proud of because it was a therapeutic moment for me too! I needed to hear God speak into my heart about this process as I continue to evolve. To evolve you must know where you are going, and you must know where you are coming from and who you are destined to become. You need to have a strong anchor, you must be faithfully aligned and you must obediently continue to adapt in that evolutionary journey. Whatever you are becoming, this episode will help you set some foundation for your journey from a spiritual godly context.

21 Dec 2023S4 EP70: Cultivate a Pure Heart - HT Series PT 1000:38:02

Psalm 51:10... repeat this: "Dear God, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me."

Ezekiel 36:26... repeat this: "Dear God, please give me a new heart and a new spirit. Put within me that heart of flesh and remove this heart of stone."

So the BIG question: are you ready to have this transformed heart and renewed mind?

Today you can choose to move from:

Pain to purpose

Lost to found

Confusion to peace

Brokenness to wholeness

Loneliness to thriving

Failure to focused

Ashamed to adored

Staleness to thriving

Cultivate is your heart set on being nurtured by the Holy Spirit as you pursue Jesus. Cultivating is like agriculture: the fruit you eat today did not just appear. It was cultivated - nurtured, time spent, pruned.

31 Aug 2023S4 EP53 Meliza's Story: You Can See with Your Heart01:02:30

My conversation today is with a friend in the United Kingdom . She had my heart at these words, and I quote, “You can know the truth, but it won’t set you free until you believe it.” What a powerhouse! Meliza is a wife and mum of two awesome kids. Life is full in Preston, UK. When she’s not running the household or playing taxi, she writes books, develops courses, and coaches people – helping them to walk in freedom; in their true identity and purpose. She loves what she does and enjoys her life – but this was not always how she would tell her story.

So let’s go ahead and hear Meliza’s story. There is a snippet video on our YouTube page where you get to watch a touching moments we had from our conversation - @ godlywomanandcompany

  • Life is all entangled in ‘stuff’ such as identity, purpose, belonging
  • You have to rediscover who you by being awakened to your true identity
  • Trauma may usher shame into your life but God’s perfect gift of grace speaks worthiness
  • The lies from the enemy can steal our joy and rob our peace
  • As God tolerates our messes, He gently guides, leads and celebrates us
  • You can see with your eyes but to know God, you must see Him with your heart
  • After seeing God with your heart, you begin to untangle by replacing the lies in your mind with truth from His Word
  • You can go through therapy, counseling, self-help guides but the best way to get out of the messes is to get out of your own way to hear God’s voice
  • Whoever is in your heart, controls you - your thoughts, your actions, even your beliefs
  • We are all in progress, going from one level of healing to another, one level of freedom to another - just choose to believe
  • God’s love is the agent that activates our faith

Enjoy the conversation, your heart will thank you!

19 Oct 2023S4 EP61: What's Sin Got to Do with It? PT 3 Heart Transformation Series01:16:26

We cannot live a sinless life as long as we are in this world, but God we aren’t under the law but under grace. So when we fall into sin, God’s love should remind us to do the first thing first - repent. Have that heart posture in his presence and acknowledge your sins. Be open, honest, transparent with God - it's just you and him. Ask for forgiveness and commit to his discipleship to grow in Him with the help of the Holy Spirit. True FREEdom, our desire to be set free, begins when we acknowledge, accept and abide. Acknowledge our sinful nature and give it to Jesus; Accept Jesus and His yoke and burden, and we Abide forever in Him - we are committed to His ways.

Three Thoughts for today:

One: Heart Transformation is God’s business. Period. Don’t let anyone in this world fool you that you don’t need God for a heart transformation. If you want to do it without God, then go for it. I know what that process feels like and I personally do not choose slavery to sin. I choose to believe that there is sin and there is repentance through the grace of God. That to me is freedom when the conscience is at peace and can rest.

Two: The sin factor is not talked about enough. In my other sphere of mental health, we excuse many sins with labels which really, if we can begin to acknowledge them for what they are we can begin to get true relief in our hearts and minds. Set the conscience free by acknowledging what you know is so not right, the battle you are facing to let that sin go. A heart that is turned over to Jesus, cannot be taken over by Satan, but a heart that is already rejecting Jesus is opening a door for another host/spirit.

Three: If you can get beyond the sin factor in your Heart transformation, the battle is more than halfway won! Heart transformation is more than tending to your emotions and feelings. It is a journey that requires time, Holy Spirit, and a willing teachable humble heart ready to exude the pure fruits of the spirit. You are ready to live true holiness, you are ready to deny self, die to self daily and allow Jesus to lead your life as your Lord.

21 Sep 2023S4 EP56: Thrive in God's Perfect Plan and Timing00:47:17

God always has a plan. His plan remains His plan. No matter the detours in life, the delays, the distractions, His promises and plans about your life remains unchanged. When He searches for you, He will find you. When He finds you, He will call you by name, when He calls you by name and association, He will give you direct instructions and when He gives you direct instructions, it will be your turn to lean into the trust factor, have faith and obediently do what He asks you to do. During this entire process of discovering how you can walk in and work with God’s timing, there are subtle characteristics too - patience, humility, sincerity of heart, gratitude.

Hagar’s story has never been this exciting for me and I hope you have learned a few nuggets to begin applying in your life situations today.

Three Thoughts

  • God in time makes all things beautiful. The beginning of Hagar’s story was not her ending. Even in the situations she encountered, she paid attention to the voice calling her name. Through this voice, she listened, leaned in, and lived a meaningful life of humility and obedience. God kept His promises to her and made her offspring numerous to count.

  • When the timing doesn’t seem right or perfect, be still and wait. Waiting is hard when you think you know how your life ought to be or turn out. When you have waited for a while or a long time, you may be tempted to simply take matters into your own hands… Hagar fled from her situation, despite this decision, God still used her to fulfill his ultimate plan. If you find yourself being desperate, the longer you wait… redirect that desperation toward prayer, meditation, helping someone in need, fasting, or simply being patient with yourself and God, He will find you, call you, and give you the instructions.

  • While you wait, maybe you must be in preparation for when He gives you the instructions. When God gave Hagar the instructions, Hagar had practiced stillness and gained an awareness of self. Maybe in your waiting, God wants you to heal some things, change some things, forgive some things or people… waiting is not futile. There is always something required of you in the waiting, and if you want to wait well, start from within.

02 Nov 2023S4 EP63: Get Rid of Emotional Baggage: PT 5 Heart Transformation Series00:53:07

Having self control is different from practicing self-control. It is not as easy said and done. You cannot reign over anger when you are pushed to the edge, you cannot pull yourself out of unwise decisions when you are on an emotional high… you need the One who doesn’t condemn and bring on shame. This friend will remind you subtly, what is important and of value to you.

Three thoughts from today's episode are three ways to develop self control:

Keep evil and sin far from your lips, your heart, your eyes. If you harbor sin in your heart and mind, you cannot hear from the Spirit thus the fruit of self-control and the others will fade from your heart. Do not be conceited, do not provoke, do not envy these are the little foxes that spoil the vineyard of our hearts and soon, we are out of control.

Pre-decide how you want the end of a situation to be. If you want to see joy at the end, then pre-decide in your mind that that is what you want and that you are ready to do everything you can to behold that joy. If you find yourself rushing, hurrying, being impatient, slow down and check if you are still on track toward the end you want or you are off track.

Quiet the noise around you and listen for the Spirit’s prompting in your heart. What He says will always align to the Word and in particular, it will bring a sense of peace and motivation - not condemnation and shame. You may feel guilty to make things right but never guilty to harm yourself or others.

24 Aug 2023S4 EP52: Hard Lessons from Mistakes00:35:23

When I was stopped by the police, I had a slight inkling of shame but that quickly faded, years of working on self will do that to you. But I felt guilty. Once I admitted to the officer and apologized… poof, the guilty feeling was gone. Some wake up calls are simply an opportunity for you to evaluate your life, and develop greater awareness. Think of these calls as your journey of identifying unhealthy patterns in your life and learn new ways to manage them. The unhealthy patterns these days can also be distractions from the main goal. When you know that you are being distracted and veered off course, it is good. It is an opportunity to become aware. You become aware and so you develop best practices to gain focus.

Secondly, some wake up calls in life are warning signals. Think of these like the warnings you receive from your doctor after a lab report, or the ‘almost’ ‘near’ misses in life where you get to reflect and change some things.

And thirdly, some wake up calls are a crisis, the result of your or someone else’s disobedience. You become the recipient of the consequences of the disobedience. This third lesson can be very difficult and can result in prolonged suffering. Now since suffering is rooted in how we respond to traumatic event or situations, once we learn to respond well to situations, we can develop perseverance and resilience to help through the suffering as we hope in Christ.

In a typical day-to-day life, life’s journey is pretty mundane [routines run the same] seriously, with little excitement. The ability to shift perspective makes a wealth of difference between getting stuck in shame, guilt and disappointment and slowing down enough to see what lies in between the lines. You get to choose which view you gaze upon when you encounter inconveniences.

10 Nov 2022Episode 13: Context is Everything!00:28:51

Would you listen to this podcast episode with just a one line title or with a brief caption that captures and gives you enough information to make you stop, click and listen? Most likely, like me I skim the title and caption to note if I want to listen. Context! It is everything. Without it, we create our own context and out of that create more and more.

We see that Joseph, Jesus's father needed more context to make the decision to not divorce his wife, Mary. If you have ever needed more context and did not get it, or you got more context but it was too late, and the in between, then listen to the podcast. You will learn how to use 'understanding' to guard your heart (subconscious), know how to receive and use context and be mentally and emotionally ready to be present with others - differently! Enjoy!

22 Dec 2022Episode 19: Bring Back the Art of Faithfulness00:38:44

“Just be faithful in the things God is asking you to do. Don’t look at the numbers, don’t look at the other person’s outcomes, don’t look at the socials and the comparisons you make, just be faithful in the way you believe God is leading you on…just be faithful”.

Today’s episode is for all of us - the mehs of heart, the yays of heart, the nahs of heart, even the wows of heart! It is time to talk about our true north as believers and believing in the part we have in this covenant relationship.

Three Thoughts

  • Be faithful - this is your steadfast loyalty that isn’t easily swayed. Loyalty to God, to yourself, and in your covenant relationships. In your contract relationships, remember to remain the true child of God too.

  • For as difficult as life can be sometimes, remember you can choose to not do life alone. This is why in 2023 we will be launching our Dear Sister Summits to take place monthly, and our Dear Sister Membership and Coaching community. I am very excited because we are creating a unique space for women who want to heal, thrive, and have abundant joy everyday. This is a global community with the purpose of healing ourselves as we also reach out and heal another sister - truly all about A Sister’s Heart.

  • Let your Yes be Yes and your No be No. I heard this in a movie once and it stayed with me “don’t think so much about the mess, the process, the steps, focus on the outcome, the fruit." Jesus said we will know them by their fruits right? So, think more with your heart dear sister, and your head when necessary.

Merry Christmas 2022! Enjoy this time with family and loved ones. See you for the last episode of year next week...yay!

29 Sep 2022Episode 7: She said "I don't feel like it"00:33:12

"Sometimes, we don't feel like doing something, but we do it anyway because the reward does not come now but later". Such is the task of navigating our feelings and responding to them instead of reacting to them. Our emotions are valid, our feelings are valid too and we must acknowledge its presence when they make an entrance, but just like any grande entry, it requires attending to and attention given to it. If you have ever said these words "I don't feel like it", then this episode will encourage your heart and mind to dance to the tune of being responsively aware of how you feel, and being courageous enough to use the correct language to describe it before acting on it.

27 Jul 2023S3 Bonus: Thank You...This Girl A'int Going Anywhere00:22:56

A bonus episode as I rest and prepare for our August 6th celebration and 4th season. I share how I have dealt with folks questioning my motives, making fun of my accent, and even those moments when I have felt unsupported.

Leading a ministry and the many facets of it is fulfilling, but can get lonely sometimes. You must have that Jesus view to stay motivated, encouraged, and on mission. You must have intentionality and release quickly as soon as you become aware... so your heart does not get too sick.

Thank you for riding with me and lets celebrate the upcoming season and 50th episode. This girl a'int going anywhere, Lord. Thanks for working with me.

11 Jan 202322: How to Live a God-Directed Plan00:24:00

"God can use anyone who has a willing heart of obedience”. You and I have been called to do something and in that process become and then do more of what we are becoming. God knows the plans he has for you, as he shows you the plan, write it down and make it plain. In this episode, you will learn how to live a God-directed plan. Here are three thoughts:

Three Thoughts

1. God burdens our hearts for a purpose. Learn and lean into the voice of God to show you the plan He has for you in the steps and stages in which He knows best. And if for some reason you detour from the plan, do not give up, go back to the drawing board with God and He will show you.

2. You will experience many highs and lows working a God-directed plan because your soul will want to do its own thing. Your personality might be speaking a different language than what the spirit tells you. Remember, Jesus left us the Holy Spirit for a reason. Allow your heart the privilege to receive what it needs from God, your soul will thrive and your heart will thank you.

3. Experiencing anxiety, worry, depression, confusion, uncertainty, fear is normal when embarking on a journey. The choice you have is you either get to go alone and do it all by yourself, or you get to go with your heavenly Father and trust Him and his heart towards you. When you seek God, you will find Him, when you seek Him with your whole heart. When the emotional and mental burdens kick-in, run to his Word, talk through and with someone, and allow His love to fill those spaces that fear would try to creep in.

20 Apr 202336: End Toxicity in Relationships with 5 Biblical Principles00:34:31

5 key biblical principles that shame toxic relationships. I do not know where you are in your walk with the Lord or how your relationship is doing but I do pray that after today, you will be able to stand on some of these truths and affirm who you are in Christ believing that he does not want you to be abused and unloved. That wasn’t his plan for you and I need you to believe that!

Three Thoughts

  1. Abuse is never and was never God’s design. Human heart is deceitful above all things and over time, love has been misunderstood. What you see in the world as love is purely lust and people are being hurt by it. If you are in any situations that give you pause about the person you are with, please seek guidance and immediate help. Love doesn’t have to hurt. Your self-esteem and ability to survive and thrive is quite important.
  2. Be aware of your emotions before they run you down. Learn healthy ways to ease the tensions in your heart. Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to get angry. Tip: When you ask clarifying questions, the anger eventually fades away.
  3. Remember these 5 key relational biblical principles and use them: Mindful communication, managed emotions, appropriate use of power and authority, love and forgiveness, adaptable roles and responsibilities. Practice them and watch your relationships blossom.

To start off the year 2024, Rev. Julia Oji joins Kate on the virtual couch for a much needed heart preparation as we start the New Year. A few words to note from their conversation:

  • Be passionate about the Lord and His commitment to you

  • Out of the process, you are refined
  • Trust God's process and hold on to His promises in the challenges as well as in the triumph.

16 Nov 2023S4 EP65: Motives: Why Do I Do What I Do? PT7 Heart Transformation Series00:58:00

We may never know fully why we do what we do, however, when we

are intentional about transforming our hearts, “the why '' behind “the

what” will be revealed to us. Question is, are we ready to face

ourselves, and allow God to reveal who we are to us while He nurtures

our spirits into His likeness? Bottomline, dear sister, if you cannot be

honest with yourself about why you are doing what you are doing,

pause and do some heart-work.

20 Mar 2024S5 EP74: Intro to the Fruit of the Spirit PT 100:44:12

In this Part 1 of the Introduction to the Season 5 series, I teach about "Who is the Fruit of the Spirit".

  • The Fruit of the Spirit comes from the Holy Spirit who advocates for us daily. Any mental, emotional, relational struggle we are experiencing in life must be brought into the Holy Spirit’s presence; invite Him to teach you because that’s what Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit will bring to our remembrance all that we have learned from Him.

  • Which takes me to thought number two, you must learn the Word of God and allow your heart to be taught. Teaching requires an active engaged mind willing to take in information and practice what is taught. This way, in moments when you need to show grace, the characteristics of love and kindness can be shown.

  • Thought number three is you must do all you can to remain attached to the vine. The enemy is cunning and he comes to steal, kill, and destroy. To weather the storms of life and overcome the mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational hurdles, we must walk with Jesus daily. Not just reading the word, but committing it to memory and repeating what we have read so often throughout the day that it becomes a part of you. If you have to sit with a verse for a whole week, do that… I do this dear sister!

08 May 2024S5EP 79: The Oasis of Peace and Serenity [FOTS]01:20:43

Thoughts from this teaching on peace:

  • Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God. If you call yourself a “Child of God”, being a peacemaker is your mandate. It is in your spiritual DNA and must be part of everything you say and do. The Holy Spirit guides you and teaches you so you are not peacemaking in your own volition and strength, rather you obey what the Spirit tells you to do and how to do it. Peacemakers obey the will of God.

  • Peacemakers are confident, courageous, vulnerable, honest, humble. They embrace grace and truth. They value people and do not resolve conflict out of fear. Peacemakers approach problems with love, they are congruent with self and others, have a gentle and kind hearted approach. Peacemakers are proactive and intentional with cultivation of relationships, they listen more and speak less and they operate from a place of humility.

  • Peacekeepers avoid conflict, speak more and listen less, they please people and neglect self. Peacekeepers yearn for a life of peace but avoid difficult conversations, they hold things in their hearts, they are reactive and passive. They operate from a place of fear and defensiveness.

  • You already have peace. It is free! It is a fruit of the Spirit and you get to cultivate it daily; however, you cannot cultivate this on your own. You need to remain connected to the Vine so that you hear and obey what God’s will is for your situation. Obedience to the will of God is the secret to inward peace in your situation. So, the path to inward peace does not cost or bring financial burden, it brings peace to the mind and heart.

  • To know the difference between Holy Spirit peace and fake peace, look to your heart and how you portray other virtues: humility, patience, faith, trust, hope, gentleness (that part). Your peace can be disrupted and that is part of the realities of life. This is why you need your roots firmly planted in the One you believe in - Jesus. Allow His word to permeate your heart instead of the world’s ways, accept his teachings and abide in his presence even when you do not understand ‘why’ life is the way it is. He will always teach and show you exactly what you need when you need it.

14 Aug 2024S5 EP85: The Goodness of God [FOTS]00:57:23

Here are three thoughts from today's episode:

  1. Our idea and understanding of God’s goodness as believers, humans is merely scratching the surface of this rich attribute of God. Goodness or being good is a high moral standard outwardly expressed when you show kindness to someone. Goodness in God’s standards is being holy, just as Jesus corrected the rich young man “only God is good”, because the heart of man needs much work to attain that level of purity God desires from us.
  2. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we can walk in an intentional pursuit of goodness. We must direct our heart and mind toward Jesus and be obedient to all that He wants to teach and show us. Jesus tells us that the Holy Spirit will teach us all things. When the teaching happens, it is our duty to practice it, put our faith into action so we do not become dull, stale, dead.
  3. A big aspect of goodness is extending grace to others. God is gracious to us, and all throughout the Israelites journey, we see that his grace was sufficient for them when manna was provided through when they entered the promised land. When you are unable to extend grace to others, it is time to truly check the status of your E.G.O and ask yourself, am I extending Grace Onto others?

Here are some coaching questions to ponder on about goodness:

  • Understanding what goodness is today, if Jesus were to look into my heart, which would he see more of - Kindness or goodness or both?
  • Who is God asking you to be good toward today [show the characteristics of a holy saint]
  • Do I have the joy of [knowing and understanding who God is to me] and do I accept and believe in him steadfastly?

16 Oct 2024S6 EP90: Part 1 Our Journey to a Faithful Godly Marriage [Marvin and Johnette Davis] with James Daisie00:35:34

If you are married, listen up. If you are thinking about or desire marriage someday, listen up. If you just love learning from those who have gone ahead of you and have some wisdom to share, then listen up. I invited my ‘Hubstar’ and best friend James Daisie of 15 years married, 22 years of friendship AND our good friends Marvin and Johnette Davis, married almost 20 years to join us for a great conversation on the Fruit of the Spirit Faithfulness. Particularly, our marriage journeys to faithfulness. The recording was so good and the conversation was so rich, it is two parts so make sure you listen to both parts or watch it on YouTube.

A bit about Marvin and Johnette: Marvin and Johnette Davis have 4 beautiful children, Sakiya, Marvin Jr., Micah and Micaiah.

Their relationship began after meeting in Tampa, Florida on the University of South Florida’s campus at the end of 2002. After quickly becoming friends, they knew their prayer that the “next person in their life will be their spouse”was quickly becoming a very possible reality. Marvin had a daughter Sakiya, who was almost 2 years old and Johnette happily accepted her as her own.  A year later they welcomed Marvin II, while still in college, working and trying to make ends meet for two children, Marvin Sr. felt compelled to end his basketball career to work full time to take care of his responsibilities. They both felt they were created for each other and couldn’t imagine their lives apart! So at the ages of 21 and 23 they did what most young couples in love would do, got married!

Newlyweds, two children under 4 years old, blended and no pre-marriage counseling, the beginning of their marriage was new, exciting, rewarding and often frustrating. Without much guidance or counsel, they loved the only way they knew how!  Two broken people from two different worlds came together to do this thing called life and what an adventure it has been. Years of being unbalanced spiritually, physically and emotionally led to infidelity, mistrust, identity issues, confusion, pride and insecurities.

In 2017 as God was healing and restoring, they began their  marriage ministry to teach others how to do marriage God’s way! Through their brokenness, God has allowed them to build a family legacy that will help others build the firm foundation needed for generational impact. They are now doing marriage and living God's way on his solid unshakable foundation, and walking out their purpose to empower and equip others to do the same for his glory!

Their desire is to equip couples and their families with the foundational tools to be successful as an individual, a child of God, a spouse, parent, sibling and friend.

Here are some wise nuggets from my conversation with my ‘Hubstar’ James, and our friends Marvin and Johnette:

  • Know and have a vision for your marriage.
  • Pray for your future spouse as you desire marriage.
  • When difficulties arise in marriage, you don’t give up on the person.
  • You can know the concept of faithfulness and not the practice of faithfulness.
  • The fruit of faithfulness comes with accountability to an authority.
  • Being faithful is also learning how to pursue with a heart of love.
  • The opposite of faithfulness is selfishness.
  • To cultivate faithfulness, get closer to the Lord through His Word, get excited about who He is, not just the blessings He gives, and give access to receive accountability.
  • Unforgiveness is selfishness, forgiveness is a requirement of faithfulness.
  • Unhealed, undealt trauma shows up in our lives everyday.
  • Believe that God can teach you how to be faithful.
  • Trauma that is untreated is transferred.
  • Have a holy fear of God enough to work on your heart so you can cultivate His character of faithfulness.
  • Let your whole life - marriage, work, relationships glorify your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

These nuggets and more is why Godly Woman & Company Ministries exist. Through your testimony, others can have hope to live and thrive. Marvin and Johnette of Safe Haven, Building Strong Families have a mission to build and enrich marriages and families. Whether you need support or a couple you know, whether you are a blended family or newlywed, a godly biblical counsel works, and heals permanently. Me and my husband, Marvin and Johnette, we did the work God’s way. Speak the Truth to the lie because, the devil is a trickster and an accuser of the brethren, you are a conqueror, an Overcomer!

We all experience seasons of highs and lows, ebb and flow. This is one of those episodes where I have practically consistently lived what I preach because life is always happening so I must work al the time.

Change in life is constant and you can never have enough tools to help you manage life’s happenings, whether in decreasing or increasing measure. In this Episode, you learn the three practical steps that I personally use to move with the ebb and flow of life.

You will be encouraged to examine your situations and begin the steps to move. Seasons of ebb and flow are never ending, but the action of ebb (decreasing) or flow (increasing) do end and begin again and again. Learn to be even-tempo through it all.

Enjoy the episode and cheers to our healing and FREEdom.

16 Oct 2024S6 EP91: Part 2 Our Journey to a Faithful Godly Marriage [Marvin and Johnette Davis] with James Daisie00:38:32

Johnette and Marvin of Safe Haven, Building Strong Families have a mission to build and enrich marriages and families.

06 Apr 202334: The Scars You Don't See When Abuse Happens00:40:29

What do you do when you find yourself at the age of 33, your marriage is hanging on by a thread and you feel like a caged bird? You know deep within you, you want to fly, be free but there are all these barricades, not erected by you but certainly impacted by their presence. Now heads up, here is my way of alerting you that this month of April is Sexual Assault and Abuse Awareness Month.

To understand the why [the purpose] driving a person’s life, you must do your best to also know and understand the what [the mission]. Everyone has a story and this month, I get to promote allyship and advocacy about a silent pandemic that unfortunately, most are silent about.

This is the episode that bares it all...pieces of my journey: “the scars you don’t see when abuse happens”. So Before you tune me out, hold on, did the word ‘abuse’ trigger a memory or a thought, or a voice or an uncomfortable feeling in you? What is that and can you stay in that for a while? Listen dear sister, remember you may be the miracle that someone will need.

12 Jun 2024S5 EP81: Waiting On and For the Lord - Patience [FOTS]01:07:50

Here are three thoughts from this episode:

  1. Patience is a virtue, and most importantly, it is a characteristic of the Fruit of the Spirit. You have the Spirit of God in you; therefore, you are a new creation, your old ways have passed away. You have every spiritual capacity to develop a heart of patience.
  2. Developing or cultivating a heart of patience requires time. Become more cognizant of your behaviors and habits as well as your surroundings. Self-reflection is great practice to engage in often. You can do this through journaling and audio essays where you verbally record your day and the Fruit of the Spirit you felt challenged by.
  3. Bearing the fruit of patience is a daily practice of allowing the Lord to lead and guide you. Remember, if you disregard the Lord’s guidance, you are disobeying Him and that in itself is a sin. His command is that you wait on Him and wait for Him. Do just that in prayer and with joy and watch what happens in time.

15 Dec 2022Episode 18: Reclaim Your Time and Power00:28:18

You are never to be underestimated in the seasons you find yourself in…with your family, your workplace, your community. Maybe you can’t speak up for yourself. Maybe you find yourself doing for others and running on empty. Maybe you don’t feel like a helper in any area and more like the only captain in everything. Maybe life circumstances have you being the lone ranger for yourself and your kids and so you have no choice but to be the captain and co-captain. No matter what the circumstances are, there is always a good time to reclaim your time and own the inherent power and purpose you have been given.

Three Thoughts

1. Reclaim your time - your time. Know your inherent purpose and believe you are capable of being that.

2.Only you know what you need to thrive in your reclaimed time. It could be spiritual, such as literally figuring out how to create space to hear the voice of God, or physical, getting some much needed sleep, rest or mental, practicing what I call the great escape which is mental health break, or emotional such as journaling etc However reclaimed time looks like for you, just choose to own it.

3.You have a little Deborah in you, a little Jael in you, a little Mary in you, a little Esther in you, and Jesus is always ready to listen. Have faith in reaching out for what you need and believe that you will receive it.

Thank you for supporting us - listening, sharing, following, sending your encouragements.

16 Feb 202327: Amanda and Julio Prepare for the Storms of Life00:51:17

Amanda and Julio have been married seven years and in those seven years faced one of the most trying marital challenges any couple could endure… walking a fertility journey. A journey filled with preparation, active faith, unwavering hope, patience and so much more! I know their story will inspire you. As you listen, here are a few takeaways:

  • Love is patient and in praying for patience, pray for grace
  • Every family has a story, every couple has a story and sometimes that story has a story writer. Know who your story writer is and trust the process.
  • Observe and know the generational dysfunctions and curses in your families. This will inform how you begin to heal and break such curses from manifesting as intergenerational patterns.
  • Love and respect is a mutual bond that fuels healthy relationships; know your relational boundaries, understand each other’s lived experiences and remember, you cannot change your partner’s personality.
  • When it comes to challenges in life, you can see them as preparation, perspiration, and persecution; so lean into the story writer who can lead you on a different path.
  • Your preparation in the waiting period can be a healthy combination of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, financial, and relational factors such as faith, hope, peace, patience, love, realistic thinking, and growth mindset.

05 Jan 202321: Threshold of Faith and Fear with Lady Rev. Julia Oji01:08:12

To kick-off the year and as most of us embark on some form of a fast I invited my friend and momma in Christ join me on my virtual couch for a conversation. As a lady Reverend, she lets down her hair for some sisterly/motherly conversation.

As you listen to the conversation with Rev. Julia Oji, in 2023, whenever you are at the threshold of faith and fear remember these:

  • Relax in God.
  • Make God your friend.
  • Discern the voice of God.
  • If you want to have your peace of mind, know who you are supposed to reveal your vision to because they may not have the capacity to handle it.
  • Look toward the win that is at the end of your journey.
  • Never entertain fear because fear is a torment.
  • The only constant in your life journey is the love of God in the midst of your transformation.
  • Allow God to direct you.
  • Get to God by His Word and though conversations with Him.
  • Just obey what you know God is asking you to do.
  • Stop trying to figure out how ‘it’ will end.
  • Get excited about life!

Enjoy the show!

02 Mar 202329: Am I The Only One Tired Out Here?00:29:09

When exhaustion wins, dear sister, you can get your life back! Truly your soul finds rest in God [Psalm 62:1] Remember how Jesus did it and being born in His image, begin the baby steps of recovering from fatigue, tiredness, hurry, exhaustion. Your soul finds rest in God through His Word.

Three Thoughts

  • 1. Eliminating hurry, or breaking free from exhaustion is more than behavior modification and coping mechanisms. It requires you to be honest with yourself and acknowledge your willingness to change from what you may be striving for. I won’t say that all striving is bad. Our natural instinct is to strive, that is to try to achieve a result… you try earnestly and persistently. Sometimes you strive to get good grades, you strive to get yourself or your family the best health care, you strive to break the glass ceiling… And this is what I love about the Holy Spirit. At some point, He whispers, enough striving, now let's look at the goal again and this time, I want you to persist steadfastly, that is persevere. See it as a journey, a task or a goal and work at it diligently and with careful thought to how you get it done. So no, all striving is not bad. We are naturally wired to try to do something.

  • 2. Oftentimes to be spiritually filled, we must address physical and mental symptoms or problems first. Going to God for wisdom will be a wise start to know your next steps. If your symptoms are overwhelming you, please seek immediate attention. I love it when we pray and wait, but then we don’t give God enough time to talk back. Prayer, a conversation. A conversation requires feedback. Are you waiting for God’s feedback? He definitely will say something to you. In Proverbs 1, wisdom is found where rebuke is embraced. When we pray and the response is conviction, lean in. Right there is wisdom knocking at the doors of your heart.

  • 3. Most disciples are not discipling these days, we are simply deciphering what we “feel” and what we want to do. To disciple is to obediently do even when we feel it is uncomfortable, it doesn’t make sense, or it is not the norm in the culture around you. In our newsletter this month, I share with our readers heart healing habits that can be practiced to help your heart heal from ‘racing through life’. 09 Nov 2023S4 EP64: Being a Christian is So Hard? Easy? PT6 Heart Transformation Series01:09:41

No regrets! Christianity is not easy, not for wimps. It is hard and easy and for those who choose to live a life after Jesus’s life and desire to have a pure heart. Blessed are the pure in heart - for they shall see God! Don’t just keep God first. Allow God to flow in your heart, teach you, lead you, love you, transform you.

Three thoughts for today:

When you accept Christ as Lord and Savior, get baptized, and begin life as a Christian. That is like the early stages of being adopted into sonship. What a pleasure it is, the grace of God, that you are saved. Your faith gets you to the feet of Jesus, your heart gets you to see his face and behold all that He wants you to be and do.

Being saved is great! Strive in the Spirit and refuse to grieve Him. Go against the grain and the urges to be like others who know Jesus with their heads but not their hearts. You were bought at a price. You are anchored in the One who is seen by those who know Him. You are more than a conqueror!

Yes, being a Christian may seem like you are ‘giving up on pleasures of life’, but what would it be for you to gain the whole world and lose your soul. Don’t idolize the things of Jesus more than the thoughts of Jesus. Don’t idolize… your relationship with Jesus as your Lord means you yield to the Master. It is easy for us to follow human Master teachers in Master classes more than the author and finisher of our faith. Ok okay let's ponder on this a bit… the author and finisher…hmmm When you trust, you surrender, you yield, you wait, you listen, you obey…

25 May 2023S3 E41: Time Does NOT Heal All Wounds!00:24:23

Time and space is a realm concept to exist in but while existing, you want to live. You want to do your PART that is to be present, take action, mind your responses, and give careful thought to your ways. While time does not heal wounds, or all wounds, God, in time heals all wounds. I hope you have learned something from today’s episode and I do want to hear from you, how you are doing your PART. If you want to see the planner, I spoke about, you can check them out on my website: www.chiefjoyactivator.com

Here are your Three Thoughts

  • The process of unlearning and relearning is an ever evolutionary experience that you get to experience one step at a time. Your unfreezing of those negative, sometimes irrational beliefs, takes time so give yourself a lot of compassion and allow your heart to heal. Here’s a kick starter… to complete a journey or a process, there was to be a traveler that started the journey. Think of the Pilgrim’s Progress.

  • Renewing your mind on God’s Word must be a non-negotiable in your life. Not social media, not Kate’s Podcast [I love you but I need you to pick up that bible and read for yourself, and them come back here to be equipped and trained so you are a warrior for Jesus not a worrier]

  • Do your PART in this journey. What do I mean by that? Let me refresh your memory: P - be Present; A - take Action; R - mind your Responses; and T - give careful Thought to your ways!

10 Aug 2023S3 EP50: Train Yourself to be Godly with Kate, Lori, Sonya and Gladys01:05:48

50 is a big number, a huge milestone and to celebrate this season, my ministry friends Dr. Gladys Childs, Lori Ann Wood and Sonya Ingram join me along with a live audience as we discuss the essence of a godly woman. 1 Timothy 4:7 says to “...Train yourself to be godly” putting your hope in the Living God not on worthless idols. As you listen here are some key nuggets for you to lean in on about godly woman:

  • It is not about a checklist
  • It is more than Proverbs 31
  • It is about being more like Jesus [yes it is possible and God gives us the grace everyday for the journey]
  • Godliness is a process, part of the relationship you cultivate with God
  • We need mentors along the way to help nurture our spirits in the right direction
  • The Holy Spirit is our guide in being godly and Jesus is our way to godliness
  • Make a mindset shift to invite other women who share similar values into your journey and learn to collaborate, not compete
  • When you are spiritually exhausted, you are still a godly woman
  • The outcome, how the journey ends, belongs to God
  • Being a godly woman does not mean perfection, it means righteousness which only Jesus can help us with
  • Practice self-reflections and note the awareness of self that God reveals to you
  • Be trained up so you can lend a hand to another sister
  • Be the embodiment of God’s Spirit and let your light shine

10 Apr 2024S5 EP77: All Joy No Stress [FOTS]00:52:21

For truths in this episode, “Joy Is…”:

  • Joy is hope in the dark
  • Joy is gladness of heart
  • Joy is being assured
  • Joy is agreement
  • Joy is understanding
  • Joy is acceptance
  • Joy is contentment in and with the past, present, now, and future happenings
  • Joy is knowing that you are safe, secure, accepted
  • Joy is acknowledgment of you unwavering reliance
  • Joy is a deep admiration and reverence for God
  • Joy is belief in the greater
  • Joy is the emotion you choose when hope comes
  • Joy is best produced in the midst of discipline and suffering
  • Joy is Jesus

When hope dims, joy dims as well so beware of your killjoys and embrace your joy activators. Killjoys can be anything or anyone purposefully trying to snuff out the God in you - do not let it, do not let them. If you are in the depth of depression, there is no hope, reach out and begin a journey of restoring your hope and joy. So, get rid of your killjoys - your idols. Your joy burst is a repentant heart obediently walking in step with Jesus; as you heal, you sprinkle your joy dust onto others around you.

20 Mar 2024S5 EP73: Season 5 Opening00:28:03

Yessss! We are back for season 5! This is the season of 'remaining' when everyone is busy searching. In this bonus episode, I open season 5, share ministry updates and some personal updates too.

When I took these past few months to rest and receive perspective through prayer and solitude, I realized that my primary aim is to enjoy Jesus and glorify Him forever. How I glorify the Lord is cultivating the gift seed He has planted in my heart. I need to take each seed and nurture it, cultivate it and make sure I steward my giftings well.

From writing, to leading, to healing, to faith, I must use these gifts well and multiply them for His Kingdom. I am so happy to be back doing exactly what rests well in my heart. We kickoff season five exploring life in the Spirit - specifically the Fruit of the Spirit. I will teach on the fruit and also invite guests to explore the various characteristics of the fruit with me.

Excited for what's coming up so much that I am doing a podcast dump! Enjoy!

26 Oct 2023S4 EP62: Recalibrate Your Mind - PT 4 Heart Transformation Series01:07:40

You aren't double-minded! You have the mind of Christ! If you have submitted your heart to Christ, invite Him to cleanse this heart and begin renewing your mind. Your FREEdom and healing from strongholds rests in letting go of your old self (because it's been crucified with Christ) and each day renewing your spirit mind with His Word - His truths and promises.

Three Thoughts for today:

One: Heart Transformation is God’s business. Our business is to sit with Him and allow him the space and time to work His will in us.

Two: Renewing of the mind must be a daily habit and practice on the Word of God first and foremost. Every theory, every podcast, every information out here is basically either accepting of the Truth or denying of the Truth. So what wouldn't we go to the source for ourselves and read. Interestingly, why would we read anything else but the Holy Bible? Not reading the Holy Bible can be seen as an act of defiance, disobedience to the Spirit. Renew your mind dear sister, on the one Truth from which all these other truths are vying for your attention, time, and money!

Three: You are never double-minded when the spirit of God is alive - fully alive in you. You must remember this and the dangers of being here and there. When you try to create your own version of yourself by piecing together a piece of material from here and a patch from here, you know what you have? A quilt! You aren’t a patchwork of leftover materials, dear sister, you are a masterpiece, carefully, wonderfully crafted by the One True God with the purpose of filling the earth, subduing it, being fruitful and multiplying. God made you a masterpiece so stop acting on your own terms as a patchwork - stealing from God, stealing from the devil, stealing from others and stealing from self and mixing it up into your own version of self. Allow God to renew your mind and restore you to His glory!

13 Apr 202335: Give Your Sisters the Opportunity to Know You with Willkenia Napoleon01:08:54

Let's welcome a dear friend and sister Willkenia Napoleon - Vice President of I am FREE Woman ministries. I invited Willkenia to sit with me for a conversation. We touch on many topics as it relates to relational wounds, hurts, pain.

She will not say this but I know she is awesome, an incredible woman of God who champions all the people in her life. I couldn’t think of a Spirit filled woman to have this conversation with but her because she’s been through some things but doesn’t allow those things to affect and infect her. She knows what a godly healing journey feels and looks like… the messiness and healing pains in these journeys. So, join us as we discuss shame, guilt, silent trauma, empathy, sympathy…and so much more!

As you listen, here are some nuggets for you:

  • Fear is a real motivator for our silence
  • Silent trauma creates unhealthy internal dialogs
  • Shame and guilt are traps of the enemy
  • Sympathy is an external experience and empathy is an internal experience
  • When contemplating how to show empathy, ask “what would I want for someone to do”
  • If you are fixer, it is often difficult to show empathy immediately
  • To be known means “all of you in a holistic experience” You know what pain feels like, trauma feels like, heartbreak feels like
  • Vulnerability leads to being known
  • Give your sisters the opportunity to know you
  • For those who are invited in, see such invitation into someone’s vulnerability as a privilege
  • Choose to try God and walk in forgiveness

22 May 2024S5 EP80: Guest Shade' Her Place of Inner Peace01:07:23

Shade’ is an author, a motivational speaker and mentor passionately committed to helping people by motivating them to believe and live again no matter how life may have dragged them down. She believes that even when life knocks us down, we still need to dig deep within, and search out what will inspire, that would move you from that deep, dark place to where you are supposed to be. She inspires using the scriptures as the backbone to all her inspiration. Shade' knows first hand what it feels like to be knocked down by life's challenges and she also knows that understanding the power of the word and positive thinking is the main key that can change every situation. She understands that it takes courage to get back up again after life has dragged you down. Shade's life passion is to work to encourage and inspire others to live again and enjoy life.

In this episode, Shade’ shares her story and journey to finding inner peace through one constant practice - prayer. You will learn from Shade’ that:

  • Your place of prayer is a place of peace (Read Isaiah 51:10)
  • Peace is that inner knowing that God is there for you
  • When you are tired and overwhelmed, peace can be far from your heart but when you pray, prayer stills your heart in the presence of God
  • When your mind is running many miles an hour, pause, yield your heart to the Lord
  • You walk in perfect peace by being still, silent, and taking a reset
  • Your reset is being still and knowing
  • Where there is trust, there is peace

Questions to ponder on:

  • How do you walk in perfect peace?
  • What does being out of peace look like to you?
  • Where there is trust, there is peace. What does your heart say about this when the Word says “trust in the Lord with all your heart…”

18 Sep 2024S5 EP86: Dr. Fran Abanyie - Out of the Goodness of Your Heart01:05:27

Dr. Francisca Abanyie, affectionately known as Dr. Fran is a Public Health Physician who serves as the Deputy Director of the Commissioned Corps Liaison Office at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. Dr. Abanyie is a Pediatric Infectious Diseases physician who earned her undergraduate degree with Honors in Chemistry from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; her medical degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey's Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (UMDNJ-RWJMS), now Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School; and her Master of Public Health degree with summa cum laude distinction from UMDNJ's School of Public Health (UMDNJ-SPH), now Rutgers School of Public Health. Dr. Abanyie went on to complete her General Pediatric Residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA, followed by her Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine. She is also a graduate of Atlanta’s Federal Executive Board’s Leadership Government Program that focuses on developing leadership skills with special emphasis on building the five Executive Core Qualifications and is a Certified Life and Career Coach and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

Dr. Fran is passionate about mentoring the younger generation and is a purpose-driven life and career coach. She is enthusiastic about philanthropic efforts and aspires to build a hospital in her hometown of Cape Coast, Ghana. She currently serves as the President of the Ghana Physicians & Surgeons Foundation, an organization set up over 20 years ago to support the mission of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons based in Ghana by engaging in advocacy, education and programmatic events that advance the public health of Ghanaians in Ghana as well as in the North America Diaspora. She is also the owner of Flavors from Fran’s Kitchen (3FK), an online bakery best known for their premium coconut shortbread cookies that will have your taste buds dance for joy and make you feel like royalty.

In this episode, Dr. Fran shares her spiritual and relational insights about life through the goodness of God. You will learn from Dr. Fran that:

  • True goodness is about putting others first in spite of life’s challenges
  • You must analyze what others say about you in the presence of Jesus so He shows you what is true and what is not
  • Goodness requires intentional practice and passing of tests that the Lord brings your way through people
  • Goodness is about the selfless care for others
  • You must get out of your own way and see, know the essence of who you are
  • You must learn to put forth goodness with no expectations
  • To cultivate the character goodness, you must take time to know and hear God’s heart
  • Get the inpouring from God so you can pour out to others
  • You must desire the Fruit of the Spirit; it is all one fruit. Desire it, do the work.
  • Here’s your formula for cultivating this fruit: “Dear Lord, despite this/my situation, I will trust and obey you”

Questions to ponder on:

  • How has your life been transformed by the goodness of a friend or loved one?
  • How can you show goodness to others despite your own life situation?
  • If the essence of the character of goodness is holiness, then in what ways can you be intentional about cultivating goodness today?

The formula that Dr. Fran shares is one that requires a partnership with the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, our fruit is fake [see FOS introductory episodes]. The Lord is holy and those who worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth. When we learn to desire the character of Jesus, we begin to develop satisfaction in God alone. That satisfaction is where true joy of the Lord resides and so does goodness of the heart. Out of the goodness of God’s heart, we are blessed. Pass it on!

05 Oct 2023S4 EP58: Christians Only? PT2 Heart Transformation Series00:46:02

Wherever you are in your relating to God, whether curious, convinced, or committed, the bad days do come, the good days do come… the difference between Peter and Judas was what? Peter believed, obeyed, repented, and chose. The difference between Ruth and Orpah? Ruth believed, obeyed, surrendered, and chose. The difference between Job and his wife and friends? Job remained committed, obeyed, worshiped, prayed, repented, chose. The difference between David and Saul? David believed, repented, remained faithful, chose.

The difference between you, dear sister and… no one… you have no one to compare your journey with. It is unique just as you are. Start right where you are. We explore

  • The question “can someone experience Heart Transformation without being a Christian?”
  • Define the various types of disciples and you probably are now able to identify which one you are.
  • The differences between heart transformation and behavior modification

Three Thoughts for today:

One: Heart Transformation is a spiritual transformation and one that draws your heart away from the things that interrupt your relationship with the only person who can give you eternal rest for your soul.

Two: The curious disciple know Jesus with her head, the convinced disciple believes with her heart but remains stuck in logic and the committed disciple by faith, does what she obediently knows to do, trusting Jesus with the outcome. Again, which one are you and how can you become committed?

Three: Heart transformation is more than tending to your emotions and feelings. It is a journey that requires time, Holy Spirit, and a willing teachable humble heart ready to exude the pure fruits of the spirit. You are ready to live true holiness, you are ready to deny self, die to self daily and allow Jesus to lead your life as your Lord.

19 Jan 202323: How to Listen to the Still Small Voice with Dr. Gladys Childs00:53:56

Dr. Gladys Childs is a speaker, author, church leader, professor, pastor's wife, and mother. Her passion is to meet people at the intersection of life and faith to provide relevant understanding of and hope in God. No stranger to heartache herself, she grew up in a non-church-going family with an alcoholic mother and came to know Christ at age 14.

A survivor of trauma, she firmly believes in God’s ability to overcome life’s traumas. She has on her website - www.gladyschilds.com a section where you can submit questions and I read a question that someone submitted. The question is “How do I call God ‘Father’ after sexual abuse by dad?” I want you, dear sister, to go and read her response! Spot on! Here are some nuggets from our conversation:

  • Have the mindset of being open with your journey with God.
  • Focus on the stillness instead of giving up when practicing spiritual disciplines. It is about what you are gaining, not what you are giving up.
  • Always turn to God no matter what.
  • You are less of a mess today than you were yesterday and you will be better tomorrow.
  • Finding meaning frames your thoughts.
  • When you are bored with your devotions, go to the next level.
  • Do the acts that God would have you do not what people expect you to be.
