I’m profiling a festival that showcases Farmhouse style craft beers to Vancouver, BC. In other areas of Cascadia these styles are pretty well known, but in British Columbia that isn’t always the case. Farmhouse Fest is a relatively new beer festival, held at a unique location which focuses on these more traditional styles of craft beer.
I spoke with one of the event organizers, Dave Shea for Farmhouse Fest 2017 in the first segment of this podcast.
This is an updated episode since it's release. I attended Farmhouse Fest 2017 and spoke with Jonathan Evans more about the festival.

There is a spot in the lower mainland that has seen a major shift to an entertainment district in recent years, and that spot is located in North Vancouver. Located on the traditional unceded territories of the Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh. The brewery House of Funk opened their doors a little over two years ago after seeing a gap in the British Columbia market. They have seen major growth and have even developed a sister brand to them. I sat down with owner Darren Hollett.
On a weekend trip to the Yakima Valley to witness the start of this year's hop harvest (Thanks Sam Quinlan, HOOH Hops). I was fortunate to meet a lot of people in the beer community there. One of them being Varietal Brewing from Sunnyside, WA. Founded in 2016, they have been a great addition to their local community. I sat down with Co-Owner & Brewer, Chris Baum.

I recently took a trip out of Cascadia to explore a new part of the world. I found myself in Iceland where craft beer is starting to take off in the country. Beer above 2% ABV was actually illegal in Iceland until 1989 and on top of that, not much agriculture in the country to speak of. So I was curious to find out how much the craft beer scene has grown in that short amount of time and what sort of challenges are faced in making beer in Iceland. I visited a local brewery with a team behind it who started importing craft beer. I sat down with Andri Kjartansson, Ingi Kjartansson and Steinn Stefánsson of Malbygg Brugghus.
