Seinfeld Episode 2 (Season 1) Summary: “Jerry meets and attractive woman at a party but by the time she leaves, he has only learned where she works. Jerry stakes out the mystery woman’s office with George so that he can ‘casually’ bump into her.”

A classic Seinfeld episode and the origin of ‘Art Vandelay’, ‘The Stakeout’ is one of the tightest scripts of the first season. The titular stakeout scene alone ranks among the best the entire series has to offer. Enjoy!

Seinfeld Episode 3 (Season 1) Summary: “Jerry is robbed after Kramer fails to close the apartment door. Elaine talks Jerry into looking at a fabulous apartment in the hopes that she an then have Jerry’s place. Things are further complicated when George decides he wants the new place too.”

This was an interesting episode to dissect. Adam thought it had some great bits and deliveries but Corey felt it was the weakest episode of the season. Our first bit of Cartwright controversy! The one thing Adam and Corey both agree on is that George is a grade A jerk.

Seinfeld Episode 4 (Season 1) Summary: “Jerry tries to ‘break up’ with his obnoxious childhood friend but his pathetic weeping leads Jerry to give him another chance. Elaine helps Jerry come up with excuses to avoid him.”

Original air date: June 14, 1990

Fun fact: Besides the Pilot, this is the only episode title that doesn’t start with “the”. That’s gold, Jerry! Gold!

Seinfeld Episode 5 (Season 1) Summary: “After George receives a stock tip, he and Jerry take the financial plunge. Elaine and her allergies battle her boyfriend’s cats. Meanwhile, Jerry’s weekend getaway with his new girlfriend proves to be a relationship killer.”

Seinfeld Episode 1 (Season 2) Summary: “Jerry begins seeing George’s ex, Marlene, but George is more annoyed that Jerry went behind his back to pay the balance of a bogus chiropractor bill. Marlene breaks up with Jerry because she doesn’t like his comedy act.”

Seinfeld Episode 2 (Season 2) Summary: “Jerry inadvertently offends his elderly relative by saying he hate people who had ponies growing up. The woman dies before Jerry can clear the air. Jerry is torn between attending her funeral and playing in a championship softball game.”

Seinfeld Episode 3 (Season 2) Summary: “Jerry wears his expensive new suede jacket to meet Elaine’s intimidating novelist father. When snow begins to fall, Jerry plans to protect the suede by turning the jacket inside out, revealing a pink, candy-striped lining, much to the dismay of Mr. Benes.”

Featuring Lawrence Tierney as Elaine’s father, Alton Benes (best known for playing Joe in ‘Reservoir Dogs’), The Jacket was a little divisive for us to review as Adam found Mr. Benes to be a bit too intense while Corey related to the plight of Jerry and George. Our friendship might not survive this episode but it makes for some good podcasting!

Seinfeld Episode 4 (Season 2) Summary: “Paranoid because his new girlfriend hasn’t returned his call, George leaves a series of progressively nasty phone messages on her answering machine. When he learns she’s out of town, George enlists Jerry to help him steal the message tape before she can hear George’s messages.”

Original air date: Feb 13, 1991

What started out as a middle-of-the-road ‘Seinfeld’ episode turned into a really fun discussion by Adam and Corey. ‘The Phone Message’ might also represent a turning point in Corey’s life too as his wife finally showed interest in the beloved sitcom. Will she become a fan of ‘Seinfeld’?! Only time will tell!

Seinfeld Episode 5 (Season 2) Summary: “Jerry gets Elaine and apartment right above his own, but the implications of this make Jerry wish he never suggested it. George tests a theory that wearing a wedding band will make him more attractive to women.”

Seinfeld Episode 6 (Season 2) Summary: “Jerry’s Apartment is cleaned by the boyfriend of a novelist whose book Elaine is editing. When Jerry and Elaine later see Jerry’s missing statue at the author’s apartment, Kramer poses as a cop to get it back.”

‘The Statue’ started out as a slightly mediocre episode but quickly turned into one of our favorites of the season. Like the last episode (‘The Apartment’), this one is elevated by a strong side character in Ray (played by Michael D. Conway). Adam and Corey ponder why they didn’t get to see more of him later in the series they breakdown the episode.

Seinfeld Episode 9 (Season 2) Summary: “While channel-surfing, Jerry and Elaine stumble across a soft-core porn film, which leads them to renew their physical relationship. They come up with a set of rules for having sex without compromising their friendship.”

What was originally supposed to be the season 2 finale became a somewhat confusing, albeit enjoyable, mid-season episode of Seinfeld. Adam was a little put off by the lack of continuity and resolution, but Corey enjoyed the more intimate, character-centered story.

“The Stranded” is a weird episode! Not only was it supposed to air during season two, making all the stuff with George and his co-workers seem odd in season three because he already quit his job, but it almost felt like two different stories. Like with most of the oddball episodes though, Adam and Corey had a lot more fun breaking it down than they did watching it. The latter half, at least (the first half is quite good)!

Hey everyone! First of all, I wanted to let you know the reason for this unplanned two week hiatus: Adam caught COVID about a week and a half ago. We hoped that he would be able to record this past weekend but unfortunately his voice was, well, terrible lol. Thankfully, he’s feeling much better (aside from his voice) and by all accounts we should be able to record this upcoming weekend.

The silver lining in all this is Adam’s wife Kāsha offered to record a bonus episode with me! We’ve mentioned having her (and my wife, Mayra) on Cartwright! in the future so this worked out perfectly… it just took Adam getting COVID to make it happen!

We hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving, and we hope that everyone enjoys this bonus conversation between Kāsha and I :)

Hey, it’s the Soup Nazi episode! Noooope! This is the first appearance of Kenny Bania lol. We were thrown off by the title too! Sadly, for Bania, this episode wasn’t the strongest first appearance of the character. He’s a bit of a tool, but it does get us excited for the “Gold, Jerry! GOLD!” in the future. Until then, we’ll just be sitting here with our bowl of soup… trying to enjoy it as a meal.
