Working on the fishing boat allowed Jess to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the trade, and she quickly became part of the "family" of local fishermen. However, she lost her inspiration for drawing after leaving her circle of artist friends, and ended up getting her skipper qualification and working as a deckhand on superyachts in the Mediterranean for three seasons. It was only after 9 years of having "artist's block" that Jess rediscovered her passion for drawing by painting the boat of a skipper she knew. She promoted her work on Facebook and soon began receiving more and more orders from captains and crew to paint their vessels.
