16 Aug 2022 | #80 - Jacqueline Wolf, PhD: On the Sordid History of C-Section in the U.S. | 01:27:21
Jacqueline Wolf, PhD, is a history profess at Miami University. She has probably read more medical literature pertaining to the history and consequences of c-section in the United States. She is the author of an AMAZING book called "Cesarean Section: An American History of Risk, Technology, and Consequence". 30-40% of babies in the U.S. are born by c-section, and the rate doesn't seem to be in decline any time soon due to the universalization of continuous fetal heart monitoring. Litigation against doctors for things out their control in birth makes matters even worse. With the advent of FHR monitoring, we have seen an increase in c-section rate without any benefits to mom or baby. Womp. This episode is (insert fire emoji)!

15 Jun 2022 | #66 - Devi Ward Erickson: On the Healing Power of Pleasure | 00:59:35
Devi has a hell of a story. She is the founder of The Institute of Authentic Tantra Education, but her journey to this incredible educational platform was by way of housekeeping, then stripping, getting heavily into the rave scene, then transitioning to monkhood and ultimately finding her place amongst the most important teachers of authentic tantra in North America...if not the world! At one point in the interview, she shares the bliss that many of us have experienced through MDMA, then later found that she could achieve this same bliss - LASTING bliss - from within through focused meditation and tantric principles. 18 Jan 2023 | Brooke Schmoe: A Midwife, a School Bus, and Birth Justice | 01:09:28
Pregnancy is an entire transformation; there’s far more to it than urine dipsticks, fundal heights, and Dopp tones. If we keep doing things within the strict, sterile, traditional boundaries of patient and doctor, we’ll never move closer to an optimal style of maternity care. It’s not a disease process, and a different type of care is required. Brooke Schmoe is the founder and midwife of probably the most unusual midwifery practice you’ve ever heard of: The Midwife Bus. Working in a birth center, Brooke realized that she was drawn to providing care to the underdogs and people who didn't have a lot of love. Remembering a guest lecture back in midwifery school, she reached out to a midwife who had a mobile clinic, and from there, The Midwife Bus was born. I'm very excited to bring this episode to you, and I hope it inspires you to be a part of the positive change in your community. 30 Nov 2022 | #99 - Keshia Lockett: On Supporting Black Women Through Pregnancy | 01:13:14
The maternal mortality rate for black women in the US is almost three times that of white women. Around the country, black women seeking maternal care are disregarded at a time when they’re most vulnerable. Today, I’m joined by Birth Doula and educator Keshia Lockett of Empowered Black Doula, who is on a mission to empower pregnant people. Through her work, Keshia is a much-needed facilitator between clients and their providers, and she offers emotional, physical, and informational support to pregnant people, mainly in the black community I’m inspired by the way Keshia shows up in the world and grateful to her for sharing her experiences with us. 26 Oct 2022 | #94 - Whapio Bartlett: On Wisdom Keeping, with a Truly Legendary Midwife | 01:54:04
With strict and sometimes oppressive licensing and regulatory requirements, the average midwife has to prioritize maintaining their license over the experience of the birthing person. Today I am so grateful to introduce you to Whapio Bartlett. Whapio has been an Independent Midwife for over 30 years, attending women and families in birth and educating women in the Arts of Midwifery and Healing. She also teaches Homeopathy and is affiliated with HANA (Hahnemann Academy of North America). She speaks and frequently writes about Quantum Midwifery and Returning Birth to the Family. In our conversation, we explore what it means to be a wisdom keeper, her wise woman midwifery care model, and how you can become a birthkeeper who meets the educational standards while maintaining the integrity of what it means to be a person attending to birth. 15 Jul 2022 | #72 - A (Brief-ish) History of Western Medicine, Witches, and Women Healers (Solo-Cast) | 02:12:45
If we aren’t willing to study and learn from history, we are bound to repeat it…As far back as human written history can reflect, women have been in the healing professions. When our cosmologies reflected the dignity of the feminine, women healers may have even ruled the space. When men began to understand their role in procreation, these cosmologies shifted to a patriarchal, masculine worldview, which is intact today.

26 Jun 2024 | There is an awesome OBGYN in Wisconsin offering vaginal breech birth, and his name is Denny Hartung | 01:22:16
The Episode was made possible by Immune Intel AHCC® & WeNatal I left the conventional medical model because I was worried about being punished for prioritizing patient autonomy over my institution's liability. I thought that the only way that I could reasonably offer vaginal breech birth support for families in need was in the home. But after I met today’s guest, my presumptions were drawn into question. Denny Hartung is an OBGYN and FACOG happily working within a small, community hospital in Wisconsin, and he’s doing just fine. How is this possible? Why aren’t his privileges being questioned? 09 Aug 2023 | Harrison Meagher: Exploring cosmic love and the antenna of spiritual connection | 01:17:23
Harrison Meagher is renowned as the Spiritual Love Coach and also hosts The Cosmic Love Antenna. He embodies the harmonious fusion of both light and shadow, expressing this unity through a heartfelt existence. His mission involves aiding spiritual individuals in rediscovering their cosmic heart space and reconnecting with their true essence. He refers to this process as "Mind, Body, Soul Synchronizing” Through his book "The Cosmic Love Antenna," Harrison aims to help individuals reconnect with their cosmic heart space and rediscover their authentic selves, shedding light on the profound significance of embracing one's true self and the impact it can have on our lives. Harrison reveals his admiration for the work of Carl Jung. Specifically, the concept of reparenting one's inner child, a practice that takes the understanding of the Shadow Orc to a deeper level. According to Harrison, reparenting is a crucial aspect of any love-related conversation as it addresses the essence of love already present within us. By exploring what may hinder the expression of that love, he highlights the importance of healing the traumas that may be linked to our inner child's experiences. Visit the show notes for more. 28 Aug 2022 | #83 - Kristine Lauria: What Does Birthwork Look Like Without Access to a Surgeon? | 01:11:27
Kristin Lauria is likely the most highly skilled birth worker on the planet. She started in the U.S. as a traditional midwife, but, when her kids flew the coop, she joined Doctors Without Borders and has been attending to births in a variety of resource-poor settings, including Afghanistan and a refugee camp in South Sudan. Because surgery is hard to come-by in these locations, she has become highly skilled at facilitating vaginal birth - low-lying placenta, breech, TOLAC, etc. In this conversation, we talk about the de-skilling of obstetricians in the U.S. due to our low threshold for using our surgical steel. We also talk about her role as the caretaker of orphaned children resulting from maternal death in childbirth, hepatitis E, blood transfusions without a blood bank, and sitting with the death of a newborn. Kristine is a gift to the world of birthwork, and I am honored to call her my friend.

22 Jul 2023 | Germ theory and the collapse of medical science? | 00:36:29
With viruses "all the rage" in the media, a true scientist must ask themself, "What is a virus?" The next logical question: "Can I be sure that viruses cause disease?" I don't have the answers to these questions, but curiosity abounds. It's not so much the need of the medical sciences to have the answers, but it should would be helpful if there were incentive structures in place to help us find our way. This isn't a solo cast focused solely on SARS-CoV-2. This is a solo cast focused on the sad path that the medical sciences have taken, particularly as scientific inquiry pertains to germ theory and viruses as the sole perpetrator in disease. And my concerns here are not just applicable to infectious disease. They're equally applicable to any of the medical specialties, not least of which is birth. If we aren't able to ask questions, then we'll never be presented with answers. If we continue to demonize pathogens as the sole perpetrators on human health, and fail to emphasize the importance of personal responsibility for one's health, we are doomed. 28 Sep 2022 | #90 - Sandra Alvarez: On the Secret War Among Hospitals That’s Driving Up Healthcare Costs | 00:55:27
There’s a giant game of monopoly being played by healthcare providers in our country, and neither you nor I stand to benefit. Sandra Alvarez’s latest film, InHospitable, shines a light on two specific players in the game in my hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - a place that's very near and dear to me. Tensions rose when the dominant healthcare provider UPMC created its own insurance company. Patients previously receiving care with UPMC providers and at their hospitals were pushed out unless they switched to UPMC’s insurance. In response, Highmark, the dominant insurer, started its medical provider, Allegheny Health Network. The two continue to battle it out for market share. This type of infighting amongst organizations claiming to provide care to the community makes you wonder whose interests they really care about and InHospitable does a great job of clarifying some of these very confronting issues. Victoria is a classically trained MD who left her OBGYN residency after learning everything she felt was needed to provide patient-centered care as a community birth worker. And you know what? She nailed it. She now serves the Southern California community as a home birth attendant. In this candid conversation (on a beach in Oceanside, CA), we discuss the pros and cons of our unorthodox path out of the conventional maternity care system and into the homes of women who are determined to have an autonomous birth. We also discuss some other less common aspects of Victoria’s life story that led her to the “light” side of medicine. You’re going to love this one! Visit the show notes for more. 07 Feb 2024 | You co-created your birth experience (whether you liked it or not) with Eyla Cuenca | 01:24:11
The Episode was made possible by Immune Intel AHCC Eyla is a pretty radical woman. In this episode, she and I riff on radical accountability in birth. After all, you aren’t entitled to having your dream birth, let alone a living baby at the end of the journey. But this isn't meant to discourage you; it’s meant to empower you. Certain things are in your control, and the likelihood of something catastrophic happening in your birth will be much lower if you do your best to control what’s going into your body and how you are showing up in your birth. For too long, women have been gaslit around what’s right for their bodies and babies, yet if you aren’t getting a “hell yes” intuitively to interventions in your pregnancy, then why appease the powers that be and nod along with the program? Nobody will be rushing to your rescue if somebody bad happens at the hands of doctors or midwives, so the decisions ultimately fall to you, not to them. This is a big part of Eyla’s work. She also specializes in pregnancy loss, which our society does an inferior job of supporting. You’re going to be amped as f*ck after listening to this one! Visit the show notes for more. 11 Jan 2023 | Ayla Barmmer: The Best Damn Prenatal & Virility Vitamins on the Market | 01:11:18
Everything we do - both women and men - in the preconception period impacts the pregnancy experience and outcome. As a registered dietitian, today’s guest Ayla Barmmer saw the need for a new type of prenatal that provided the right amounts of nutrients in bioavailable form. She recognized that nothing on the market fit the bill, so she created FullWell Fertility, a fertility wellness product and education brand. FullWell has become - by far - my favorite prenatal vitamin on the market. 25 Jan 2023 | Greg Schmaus: On Archetypes, the Psyche, and Mapping Your Power | 01:28:14
FOR THE DADS is a series of podcasts that will provide helpful insights to current or soon-to-be fathers! Archetypes are the vehicles we use to express ourselves. Chronic stress and cultural influences can make exploring the dark and uncomfortable parts of ourselves challenging, leaving us stuck in behaviors that aren’t serving us. Archetypal work gives us a tool to explore these aspects as less of a personal flaw and more of a collective pattern that we can shift. For holistic health practitioner and shamanic energy healer Greg Schmaus, this type of work has been very reflective of his healing journey. The work he’s doing is profoundly impactful, and the way he shares about archetypal work in today’s interview is incredibly insightful. You're going to love this episode. 11 Oct 2023 | When and How to Intervene in Vaginal Breech Birth with Bada$$ Midwife Kristine Lauria, CPM, LM | 01:26:48
The Episode was made possible by BIRTHFIT | WeNatal Kristine Lauria is back on the podcast! Kristine wasn't able to attend the 2023 Born Free Twins-Breech Conference. So I figured...why not bring her onto the podcast to fill in some gaps around breech birth? After nearly two decades attending births in the States, she took her skills abroad working with Médecins Sans Frontières (aka Doctors Without Borders). This is where the magic of Kristine is obvious. She has attended hundreds of breech births due to the lack of access to operating rooms in a variety of resource-poor settings in which she has worked. As a result, she brings some deeply insightful knowledge into how and when to intervene while attending vaginal breech births! If you missed out on this year's conference, 2024 is going to be bigger and better! Pre-register now to save a lot of money and secure your spot! (Kristine will likely be there, wink wink!) Knowing we are more than just our bodies, Lynn works on all levels, physically, energetically, and spiritually with women to help them access their full potential. She also teaches bodyworkers how to work with the energy of the body and how to access and use your intuition in your bodywork sessions. Nicole Heidbreder deeply appreciates the beauty and intricacy involved in the processes of birth and death. She acknowledges that childbirth is a holistic experience involving physical, spiritual, and emotional aspects for both the mother and the newborn as a new life is welcomed. She believes that the commonly held belief that a healthy baby and mother signify a successful birth is an oversimplification and can be detrimental to the birthing experience. She believes that the commonly held belief that a healthy baby and mother signify a successful birth is an oversimplification and can be detrimental to the birthing experience. She also understands that a good death is not merely about being free from pain, but rather about valuing the transition from this world to the next. Nicole's business, Graceful Fusion, works towards training and empowering compassionate doulas who deeply appreciate all stages of life. Through education, support, and community outreach, her doulas strive to offer dignity, professionalism, and respect during life's most significant transitions, whether it is the beginning of a new life or the end of one. She has an intertwined relationship between her personal and professional life. In her early twenties, she was curious about exploring her sexuality and the concept of death. 20 Aug 2023 | Chris Crawford: Freedom is a full tank (and great posture, injury prevention, and a supple pelvic floor) | 01:57:01
Sponsored by: Organifi, WeNatal, biOptimizers, BIRTHFIT, Immune Intel AHCC, Rosemary Meran Chris Crawford has more credentials than nearly anybody I've met. He's an advanced CHEK practitioner, osteopathy student, SOMA therapist, and an ELDOA practitioner and instructor. He leads dissection programs in Colorado, making him a foremost leader in pelvology and fascial mechanics. Chris is happy, fit, and laughs easily. Simply put: He's an incredible human, which is why he spends his days traveling the country working with clients to optimize their freedom through injury prevention, optimal recovery, and a truly holistic approach to body, spirit, and soul. The key to Chris' success as a therapist is his etiologic approach to wellbeing: get to the root cause of illness and everything else falls into place nicely. And he'll whoop your ass in pickleball. So why on earth is Chris on the podcast? Chris has a keen interest in women's health and how to optimize how our bones, muscles, and organs integrate from head-to-toe, atlas-to-sacrum, by optimizing the biomechanics of the fascia that glues our musculoskeletal system together. His research interests could provide a MASSIVE benefit to fertility, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and pelvic floor function. 22 May 2022 | #62 - Jason Leister: On the Basics of a Private Association | 00:20:50
Jason is a dear friend, and he helps people set up Private Membership Associations (also known as Private Based Organizations or Private Contract Associations). Jason and his wife, Maryn, who is the owner of the Indie Birth Midwifery School, decided to step entirely into the private sector when Maryn was being faced with the challenges of practicing midwifery under a license that strictly limited her ability to care for pregnant clients. A medical license is effectively "permissions" granted by the state to practice within your skillset. Under the state's jurisdiction, midwifery practice is significantly limited. The same could be said for doctors, barbers, or any other profession that involves licensing. My practice, Beloved Holistics, PCA, is a private contract association. I still practice under a license, which has some limited liability coverage through a PLLC, but all of my clients are engaged through my PCA, meaning we work together in the private domain and that neither me nor my client will be turning to the state for assistance through permissions, finances, or disputes. This episode is a little glimpse into the benefits and attributes of working with a doctor or midwife who operates a private association. For a deeper diver into Jason's approach to life in the private sector, please check out his amazing interview on Paul Chek's Living 4D Podcast. And here is a short video on case law as it pertains to private association. Jason's company is called FreedomWorksPCA. Tell him that I sent you...

Mary Holland takes center stage to discuss her extensive involvement in vaccine-related matters alongside her collaborator Kim Mack Rosenberg. Having delved into these concerns long before the release of their book: HPV Vaccine on Trial: Seeking Justice for a Generation Betrayed. Mary’s legal perspective uncovers a significant facet of the vaccine landscape. Notably, the pharmaceutical corporations behind vaccine production seemingly enjoy minimal liability, primarily due to a government compensation program and restricted avenues for civil court recourse. Shedding light on the potential risks of medical interventions, particularly vaccines, which hold the potential for injury and even death. Kim functions as a lawyer and holds the position of acting general counsel at Children’s Health Defense, a non-profit organization with the core objective of safeguarding the progressively vulnerable health and rights of children and other individuals. Alongside this role, she manages a personal law practice that specializes in addressing insurance-related challenges confronted by families dealing with individuals on the autism spectrum disorder and medical service providers catering to those with ASD. She has contributed as a co-author for HPV Vaccine On Trial, served as a co-editor and chapter author for Vaccine Epidemic, and penned The Parent’s Autism Sourcebook. Visit the show notes for more. In recent decades, we’ve seen rapidly increasing rates of infertility, declining sperm counts, and growing health issues. As a collective, we must take a step back and consider all the environmental toxins we’re exposing ourselves to. From personal care products like lotions and floss to lawn care compounds and laundry detergent, we’re living in a beautiful time where there’s a healthy, non-toxic option for almost anything. Unfortunately, many people are still unaware of the huge toxic load the average household is exposed to and the harmful effects of continuing like this. Today I’m joined by holistic nutritionist and healthy living expert Tessa Bowman to talk about how we can make sense of overly confusing labels and shift to a low-toxic lifestyle. 24 Sep 2024 | What is Born Free Method: The Podcast? | 00:10:39
Maternity care in the United States needs a re-boot. Our induction rates are rising, our c-section rates are rising, pregnancy complication rates are rising, fertility rates are declining, postpartum depression rates are rising...the list goes on. What are we going to do about it? Most people see the answer as simple: more pharmaceuticals, more technology, more "science". But what is science? The scientific method is quite simple: ask questions, make guesses at the answers, test our guesses, and then draw conclusions. Repeat ad infinitum. Most physicians and healthcare professionals aren't using their brains to their full capacity because they are too occupied documenting, billing, and following rules. This will get us nowhere...We need to be curious and start asking hard questions. Furthermore, do physicians hold the answer to our maternity woes? Unlikely. In fact, I would argue that a multi- or transdisciplinary approach to maternity care, with midwifery-led care becoming the default in any country is a major part of the solution. Born Free Method: The Podcast is hosted by Nathan Riley, MD, a dual board-certified OBGYN, and the conversations here extend beyond the hospitals, beyond the clinics, beyond the profession of "medicine". It implores you to get back to what matters most: birthing families. On this podcast, you'll enjoy conversations with those inside and outside the medical industrial complex. You'll enjoy clinical summaries of ACOG's practice bulletins (formerly heard at the Obgyno Wino Podcast). You'll enjoy personal essays from Nathan himself on the nature of birth(work). 29 Jun 2022 | #68b - On Listening to Our Intuition: Holism in Healing (Solo-Cast) | 00:09:35
Another short essay with this one, this time conjecturing on what sets physicians like myself apart from the rest - for better or for worse. Our society has become consumed by "truth". Truth in this sense is not a reflection on consensus reality but rather personal truth, which might otherwise be called "intuition". We can reduce the human experience to the sum of our organs, but this compromises the richness of the full experience that comes with an honoring of the subtle energetics of life, earth, and universe. This approach is confronting for many, but it's also why my clients keep finding their way back to my practice. Stay curious...

And as we accumulate life experience we can become more comfortable and present with birth, particularly when we begin to accumulate direct experience with the death of loved ones. In my days as a resident doing hundreds of circumcisions, I didn’t give much thought to the implications. We were taught the benefits of the procedure and counseled patients the same. But outside of religious rites, the United States is the only nation that circumcises infants in this standardized way. So, why do we continue to cut the genitals of our newborn baby males when the rest of the world does not? This is the question filmmaker and author Brendon Marotta set out to answer in his latest film, American Circumcision. The film explores both sides of the circumcision debate, and it’s won multiple awards. 13 Dec 2023 | The real science from real practitioners on the safety of childhood vaccines with retired pediatrician Paul Thomas, MD | 01:22:07
The Episode was made possible by: Immune Intel AHCC. Paul Thomas, MD, is a retired pediatrician who has battled for sovereignty as a physician, fighting endless battles with the medical board of Oregon throughout his career. The point of contention has also been his unwillingness to compromise informed consent related to vaccine schedules. He is the author of The Vaccine-Friendly Plan (co-authored with Jennifer Margulis), and he has otherwise published various studies and papers confronting the narrative that pumping kids full of vaccines is invariably a “good” approach. A study from his own pediatrics practice of over 3000 children, some of whom were fully vaccinated and many others who were variably or fully vaccinated, provides the luxury of comparing the long-term health and behavioral outcomes for parents considering taking the route of vaccinating versus forgoing vaccines altogether. Unfortunately, this original research paper was retracted from the peer-reviewed journal that initially accepted it for publication… and the reasons were what you might expect: “Defy the mainstream narrative, and you will suffer the consequence”. Science be damned. I hope you love this conversation as much as I did! Visit the show notes for more. Watch the interview on RUMBLE! Special offer from Paul Thomas:

She sought out a surgeon, who was a renowned OBGYN in TX, and he agreed to perform her surgery. The surgeon amputated her labia minora, which was not what she had asked of him. The surgeon also took the liberty to remove some of her clitoral hood, unknowingly leaving her without clitoral innervation. If this story is confronting, it should be. Why are women seeking labiaplasty? Who decides what the “ideal vulva” looks like? Should a surgeon operate in an area without understanding the region’s innervation? While there is a lot of noise out there regarding "right and wrong" to nourish your body and baby during and after pregnancy, Lily provides the clearest, most digestible "signal" to guide you through this noise. Yury is a certified Yoga teacher and a Holistic Coach with the CHEK institute. On his way to Poland to study with Wim Hoff in January of 2020, his journey of self-healing journey. Throughout the retreat he was in pain, but the experience of overcoming it was a cosmic gift. After returning from Poland, he healed himself using breathwork, visualization techniques, meditation, and restorative exercises. Throughout his life he has experimented with natural healing methods. Many years of plant medicine work helped him work through his fears, anxieties, and old belief systems that were limiting him in ways he would only realize much later. The biggest challenge for Yury was becoming free of religious beliefs, ideologies and social dogmas. It took many years of deep spiritual work and facing his fears to emerge free of all of that. 08 Feb 2023 | Mansal Denton: On Embracing Masculinity and Sacred Hunting | 01:06:13
A sacred hunt is a spiritual practice. On the hunt, there's an incredible attunement to the oscillation between masculine and feminine, that occurs in nearly every moment of our lives. It’s as much about connecting with the land, and the animal you're hoping to kill, as it is about holding a rifle and learning how to shoot. Kyle Kingsbury introduced me to the experience, and together with a group of my guy friends, we went on a three-day hunt led by today’s guest, Mansal Denton, and his two guides. Mansal makes the trip special, starting by writing a love letter to the animal you’re going to kill. Many ceremonial elements are threaded throughout, and we came away with an incredible experience. 19 Apr 2023 | Hermine Hayes: Birthing autonomy is the struggle of midwives for legal recognition and patient rights. | 01:18:41
Hermine discusses the tragic incident where the baby died during the home birth and the aftermath that the family and their midwife faced. Hermine argues that home births are treated as a normal healthcare choice in many countries, but in the United States, doctors have the power to make that choice questionable. In this case, the baby did not survive and the doctors called the police on the parents upon arrival at the hospital. The family and their midwife were interrogated and had their homes raided, causing them to go through a traumatic experience. Hermine highlights the double standard between the treatment of home birth midwives versus obstetricians and calls for more integration of home births into the healthcare system. Caitlyn Schollmeier, a certified nurse midwife in training, has an impressive background that includes serving as a medic in the Air Force and competing in beauty pageants. Despite not working as a labor and delivery nurse, Caitlyn has amassed a substantial social media following, where she shares her thoughts on the birthing system and other topics. Caitlyn has faced criticism for her participation in beauty pageants, with some viewing it as contradictory to her feminist beliefs. However, she sees pageants as a form of personal development and a way to challenge herself and that women should be able to pursue whatever interests they have, whether they align with traditional expectations or not. As she continues to advocate for women in the birthing system, Caitlyn embraces the idea that women are complex and multi-faceted beings who can pursue various passions. She believes feminism means challenging societal expectations and allowing women to pursue their interests without judgment. She notes that even those who claim to be feminists may still try to impose their own beliefs on women, instead of allowing them to define their own paths. Visit the show notes for more. Jennifer Lang is a medical doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. Alongside her professional expertise, she is a mother to three children aged 14, 13, and 11. Jennifer's debut book, titled "The Whole 9 Months: A Week-by-Week Pregnancy Guide with Recipes for a Healthy Start," was driven by her strong belief in the transformative power of food during pregnancy. She firmly advocates for adopting healthy eating habits during this crucial time to establish a lifelong foundation of well-being for children. Jennifer's aim is to inspire expectant mothers and their families to approach pregnancy with heightened mindfulness and a commitment to self-care. She emphasizes the role parents play as influential figures for their little ones, acknowledging that the journey towards nutritious dietary choices commences even before birth. As Jennifer's own children grow, she has increasingly recognized the paramount importance of providing them with the necessary knowledge to develop a positive and healthy relationship with their bodies, as well as with others. Motivated by this realization, she penned her latest book, "Consent: Every Teen's Guide to Healthy Sexuality." Jennifer perceives a lack of accessible resources that address comprehensive sexual education while centering on the essential aspect of every sexual interaction, consent. She believes that teaching teenagers about the significance of mutual, active, affirmative, and enthusiastic consent is pivotal as they embark on their path of self-discovery and transition into young adulthood. When a baby presents in breech presentation (butt down instead of head down), the general recommendation is c-section. Why? Well...it's complicated. For decades, the perception that vaginal breech birth was inherently dangerous has grown quite strong. In 2000, the Term Breech Trial sealed its fate, and education on how to relieve dystocias like nuchal arms and hyperextended necks for both midwives and OBGYN residents came to an abrupt halt. In parts of the world where vaginal breech is still (somewhat) regular, it's far less dangerous than your doctor would lead you to believe. But now that birthworkers in North America aren't learning these techniques, birthing a breech baby vaginally may, in fact, be more dangerous than it was in the past. In this episode, Rixa Hayes, PhD, and David Hayes, MD, OBGYN, the primary instructors at Breech Without Borders, discuss the history, "safety" data on vaginal breech birth, and the maneuvers that their organization is promoting to re-skill the birthworker community of North America to revive and preserve the lost art of vaginal breech birth.
11 Sep 2024 | Forget About J. Marion Sims, “Say Anarcha”, with J.C. Hallman | 01:03:33
The Episode was made possible by Immune Intel AHCC® & WeNatal In the 19th century, a young surgeon named J. Marion Sims headed to Montgomery, Alabama, seeking a route to fame and power. He saw an opportunity in a highly morbid condition known as vesicovaginal fistula, whereby a false passage between the bladder and vagina forms as a consequence of difficult childbirth, and began experimenting with techniques to find a cure. The issue was that nobody in their right mind was willing to volunteer for this type of surgery, so he coerced Black enslaved women. The first of his patients to have been presumably “cured” was Anarcha. If this is the first time that you have heard her name, you are likely not alone. This conversation gives a voice to the Mothers of Gynecology, an appropriate moniker for the women who suffered at the hands of surgeons like J. Marion Sims and whose sacrifices led to the advent of the profession of gynecology. Visit the show notes for more. Connect with J.C. Hallman: Reference from the show:

16 Aug 2023 | Dr. Mike DeBord, DC: Is blood flow restriction training the trick for those who can't find time to exercise? | 01:37:30
In fitness innovation, some adhere to traditional routines, while visionaries like Dr. Mike DeBord, President of B3 Bands, defy the norms. As a renowned sports chiropractor, Dr. Mike's venture into blood flow restriction workouts revolutionized exercise perceptions. With B3 Bands, a 15-minute session becomes a high-intensity workout, making effective exercise even more efficient. The creation of these B3 Bands has been shaped by four decades of research, practical know-how, and the accumulated wisdom from over a million real-life workout sessions. These bands are born out of a scientific breakthrough in fitness using Blood Flow Resistance (BFR). By leveraging the body's inherent mechanisms in conjunction with gentle physical activity, this method heralds a transformative shift in the way we approach exercise. "I don't have time" is no longer a reasonable excuse now that we understand the power of blood flow restriction training... Visit the show notes for more. 07 Jul 2022 | #70 - [FOR THE DADS] Cal and Peyton Callahan: On Surrendering to Parenthood & On Showing Up For Our Girls As Fathers | 01:56:57
FOR THE DADS is a series of podcasts that will provide helpful insights to current or soon-to-be fathers! Cal and Peyton Callahan have become dear friends. I invited them on the podcast for a variety of reasons. They model the tribulations of conscious partnership and child-raising, and they have also created an e-book titled "She BECOMES: A Dad's Guide to His Developing Daughter", which provides information and language for fathers to become involved in their daughters' experiences in developing from adolescence through puberty into womanhood. We also get into the weeds on home birth, fear, issues within the medical industrial complex, birth as the re-birth of a woman, from maiden to motherhood, and the cycles of life. This interview brought tears to my eyes...I know you'll enjoy!
17 May 2023 | Elena Tonetti: Birth is miraculous and its ripples have long-term impacts | 01:28:59
Elena Tonetti-Vladimirova founded Birth Into Being, an international organization dedicated to conscious evolution and creating a thriving social structure based on love, compassion, and common sense. Elena is a speaker, filmmaker, and author who uses multimedia to share her message. She gained expertise in alternative birth practices, business management seminars, and citizen diplomacy during the 80s in Russia. After a life-changing move to the US in 1989, Elena created Birth Into Being and has since led 20 Birth Into Being Method workshops and trained over 200 facilitators in 22 countries. She is retiring from leading workshops to focus on conscious creation and new projects. Elena sees the arrival of a new human being popping out of non-existence into our three-dimensional reality as phenomenal. With the probability of any one of us being born is one to 400 trillion, the whole process of conception, development, and delivery is nothing short of miraculous. The main mistake of our civilization is treating the arrival of a new human being as just another event. Visit the show notes for more. 05 Mar 2022 | #45 - Jason Leister: A New Model for Birthwork | 01:06:59
Jason Leister is a recovering "Straight-A Sheep" who spent the first 30 years of his life thinking, doing and saying what he was told. One day, he realized that virtually everything he thought to be true was a lie. Since then he has been on a journey searching for the truth about everything. He is the father of 10 children, is psychologically unemployable, and publishes the Sovereign Business Daily e-newsletter, where he writes about sovereignty, freedom, family, business and living well outside of the Matrix.
01 Apr 2023 | #116b - Jason Leister: Raise Stellar Kids & You'll Change the World | 00:38:18
The transformation that comes with fatherhood can be a rite of passage into manhood...but there aren't a lot of great role models out there for men who want to be present and involved in the birth process. Unconscious men breed unconscious births and unconscious children. In my holistic, unconventional OBGYN practice, Beloved Holistics, PCA, I spend as much time with my pregnant clients as I do their partners to prepare them for this beautiful - though often scary - transition. In this podcast series, I want to bring the voices of strong, compassionate men into the room. Jason Leister is a diamond, multi-faceted and beautiful in every direction. He has 10 children, is married to the incredible Maryn Green, and he has a variety of businesses that help people (like me!) build impactful, successful businesses that align with their core values. In a nutshell: Jason is a wizard. And somehow...he still seems to make parenting look easy. How is this possible? How do you get your kids to respect one another, the planet, and their community? For Jason, the journey hasn't been easy, but he is principled, and those principles are a gift to any man (or woman) who is excited by the prospect of "having it all". This interview was a necessary contribution to both my Born Free Method course along with any responsible guidebook to owning your masculinity while raising children through the rollercoaster of their development. Find Jason's company Freedom Works here. Whether you are a birth worker, a doctor, a healer, an entrepreneur of any type, or just the regular, average Joe, you will benefit from his services. 17 Apr 2024 | Women are being harmed by transvaginal mesh for prolapse repair, with attorney Adam Slater | 01:28:10
The Episode was made possible by Immune Intel AHCC® & WeNatal The FDA has rescinded its approval of mesh placed vaginally for uterovaginal prolapse, yet many gynecologists continue this practice, and it comes at the cost of many women’s long-term health. My guest in this episode is not a healthcare provider and had no interest in women’s health until he started hearing stories of women injured by these procedures. He then started litigating on their behalf and made some friends in high places along the way, including gynecologists, urogynecologists, and many other women’s health practitioners trying to right the ship of history towards healing prolapse and healing the women who bring life into the world. Unlike many attorneys, Adam seems to be very empathetic towards women as a consequence of a career highlighted by innumerable “wins” through the legislative process for women harmed by vaginally-placed mesh procedures for prolapse. 21 Jun 2023 | James Thorp, MD: The unspoken truth, a highly credentialed OB-GYN's concerns on the COVID-19 vaccine rollout | 01:28:16
Dr. James Thorp is a 68-year-old OB/GYN specialist in maternal-fetal medicine from Florida. With over 42 years of experience, he has seen 6,000 to 7,000 high-risk pregnant patients annually. Since the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, he has observed a significant rise in fetal deaths and miscarriages among his patients. However, it's hard to know the full extent of these adverse effects due to gag orders imposed on physicians and nurses since September 2021. Despite risking his career, Dr. Thorp is speaking out about what he's seeing in his practice and the information available in Pfizer's documents and the VAERS database. In his opinion, the mRNA vaccines aren't safe for pregnant women and their fetuses. As an accredited OB/GYN, Dr. James underwent intensive research during his three years of subspecialty training, which has given him a wealth of knowledge and expertise in counseling patients. He graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1979 with a health profession scholarship and was commissioned as an officer in the US Air Force. Despite the risk of being relegated to a low-tier military residency program, he was fortunate to have a mentor in Ign Phillip Seis and his impressive credentials are a testament to his dedication to his profession. 16 Jan 2024 | Mini-Sode: You are not your body. Birth is not a medical procedure. | 00:46:55
In this solo-cast, I revisit a couple of common themese - and controversies - in the birth and "natural health" world. You aren't your body, so why are we investing ALL of our time and energy into "hacking" the physical? This tendency is no different or better than our outdated medical system's approach to birth with the promise alone of "healthy mom, healthy baby". Sara Rosser, CPM, and I created the Born Free Method as an alternative means to view this sacred process, and the various community members that have given birth after taking our program are a testament to us having found a better path forward. 28 Aug 2024 | You say you want to heal. You say you want to get pregnant. Your subconscious might suggest otherwise, with Teshna Beaulieu, DC | 01:16:33
The Episode was made possible by Immune Intel AHCC® & WeNatal I met Teshna while attending a birth in Albany, NY. My friend for whom I had traveled to Albany to assist with the birth of his fourth child had recommended I check out her practice. It was a very modest chiropractic studio, but the experience with Teshna was anything but ordinary. She introduced me to a unique blend of classical chiropractic care and other techniques meant to help me clear my limiting beliefs. She had me say out loud various phrases about my life and how I perceive love in my life, and then she used muscle testing to determine if I “really believed” what I was saying. As it turns out, I’ve been lying to myself about much that I held in my world. And then the magic trick…She corrected these incongruencies using simple touch, red light, and a few other techniques. It was like magic, and I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t experienced it myself. Meet Teshna Beaulieu, who is likely the most unusual healer I’ve ever met. Visit the show notes for more. Alvey and I got to know each other through Runga, a wellness retreat hosted a few times per year in Austin. At first glance, you wouldn't think that Alvey and I had a lot in common, but you'd be wrong! We have both lost a parent before we knew we were ready, and that rebuilding process can go one of two ways: make you or break you. In Alvey's case, losing his mother was hard but also forced deep self-reflection, prompting a journey that has transformed him into a deeply spiritual and effective health coach. I loved this conversation, as subtle shifts in the masculine can provide a great deal of healing to our feminine as well as to those energetic bodies of the men and women that we are for in this world.

Lisa Marie has had the privilege of working with birthing families for close to 25 years in a variety of settings and circumstances. From her early years raising her own family, to being a doula, to her midwifery practice now, her love and passion for this art only increases over time. She has a passion for women that have known emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, and she believes birth can help integrate and heal their experience. It has been an evolution of learning and stretching that has allowed her to empower women and men to embrace their experience and catch their own babies. Oftentimes the prenatal time is a time of exploring, stripping, and untangling old wounds so that the way of the heart is made clear. Lisa Marie believes pregnancy is The Great Revealer, causing us to see things more clearly than before, including our current relationships.
