Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it is our GREAT PLEASURE to announce that Bebop Banter HAS RETURNED (and of course it wouldn't be a return without Wes having microphone issues haha)! With the holidays coming and going and the boys being busy, it's been a bit of an up and down period but NEVER FEAR: We are still here to try to give you all some sweet, sweet anime content. There are some slight series reviews, controversial takes, and surprise last-second guests so this is an episode you won't want to miss!

With Katsucon coming up in a couple of weeks, the boys have gotten back together pre-convention to discuss what they've been up to since the start of the year, what they're looking forward to going forward, and more! Thank you to everyone that has been listening despite our temporary shift to a bi-weekly(ish) schedule and look forward to the next episode! 

2024's release schedule has been on a monthly basis thus far, and we're working to change that, but in the meantime the boys have been busy. With schools out across the country (and the world), the boys take on teaching some lessons of their own! Join Wes, Demetrius, and Syed as they explore what the Shōnen demographic in anime is, where it started, what some popular shows are, and what makes Shōnen shows so iconic! 

Tune in as the boys continue their long journey through different demographics and genres by tackling unfamiliar territory: The Shōjo Demographic! From the interesting origin of modern art styles and tropes to the (admittedly few) series that Wes, Demetrius, and Syed have seen, this episode goes to show that something you might not expect to like can surprise you!

In this episode, Wes (who's mic died so he had to use his backup recording lol), Syed (who didn't drop his mic a while ago), and Demetrius (who also didn't drop his mic), tackle the more mature side of anime and manga aimed at men: Seinen! From the history of seinen to some popular manga and why anime adaptations for this demographic can be difficult, the boys tackle all of the questions you may or may not have had! 

Ladies and gentlemen, we are finally here at the last major demographic: Josei! Join Wes, Demetrius, and Syed as they discuss the genre's initial proclivity to the profane, how its roots weigh it down, and also how (despite a rocky start) it has overcome its past by producing some serious mainstream hits and hidden gems! 

After journeying through the various lands of the various demographics, the boys take a quick break before diving back into the wild world of anime. Join Wes, Syed, and Demetrius as they discuss video games (animal crossing), documentaries (tiger king), and a variety of other things that have been keeping them sane in these insane times! 

There are 4 weeks in (Ani)May so it's time to bring a new 4 part series to all of our listeners! The time has finally come: We are tackling the Big Three! Join Wes, Syed, and Demetrius in this episode as they give an overview of the Big Three and get ready for individual episodes on each one coming in the following weeks! 

After starting off the series with an overview episode, Wes, Demetrius, and Syed are here to do one thing: Nitpick Naruto! Everyone knows what makes this series so great, but stepping back and looking at it there are a lot of flaws! Sit back and join the boys as they go over some narrative techniques and choices you might have missed, moments that detracted from the series, and why such moments really don't take away from Naruto as a whole. Don't worry, the rest of the big three will be getting the same treatment in the coming weeks! 

Having danced around spoilers in their attempt to explain their likes and dislikes concerning Naruto, the boys have decided to go all in with spoilers! Join Wes, Demetrius, and Syed as they tackle, canon arc by canon arc, their thoughts on major characters and events in the Naruto franchise. Don't worry if you haven't finished the Ninja War arc(s), this episode covers everything up until then while the next episode will be purely dedicated to the Ninja War! 

The journey was longer than your hosts (Wes, Demetrius, and Syed) expected, but they have finally arrived at the finish line! Join the boys as they break down the final few arcs of Naruto in full, spoiler-filled fashion! Don't forget to tune in next time as they tackle the next of the big three: Bleach! 

Bleach is one the the perceived "Big Three" but is often looked down upon as being the worst of the bunch. In this episode, the boys look at Bleach's storytelling, characters, and overall world compared to One Piece and Naruto to try to nail down why the others sold more, were rated higher during their runs, and are more highly regarded in their home country. Is it a matter of just poor storytelling, is it because Bleach was the more traditional of the three, or was it some mix of both? Join Wes, Demetrius, and Syed as they find out (and tune in next week for a spoiler-filled discussion)!

Having broken down the reasons that Bleach might not have caught on quite as well as the other members of "The Big Three," the boys finally put their spoiler-filled thoughts on display in this episode!
