Born out of the coming together of four like minded friends: Gary Lewis, Tom Armstrong, Saul Wilks and Shaun Dangerfield aka NightMoves, the Boogie Cartel ethos is simple: a ridiculously tasty music policy, ace people, and a love for the party.

Their unique mix of sounds has seen the collective play everywhere from the infamous NYC Downlow at Glastonbury to venues across Europe, and their debut EP release on Trip City records was met with high praise.

Here, Saul shows us why the high praise was richly deserved...

Bearded Brightonian. Lover of groove based dance music since the days of before Acid House.

Best known for re-igniting Brighton's Groove Based Dance Music Scene with The Go Bang Brighton Festival when clubs were a bit rubbish.

Currently hanging on in there with The House Of Go Bang AV Warehouse Party and various guest invites for the likes of Memory Box, Latitude Festival and any old place where I can wangle a guest spot.

Thanks for listening. Keep the faith.

11 Apr 201906 Professor Eddy01:17:40

A warm and sunny welcome from us at BTTB HQ!

This mix is from Holland's Professor Eddy.

His huge collection of mixes on mixcloud have provided us with many hours of chilled listening, so we're thrilled to have him join us on Back To The Beach.

An intro from the man himself....

I'm a Dutch dj and I worked for several (local) radio stations, for instance for Laid Back Radio, and I did guest mixes for AOR Disco, Dazling Soul and Subnav, among others. My style can be described as intimate funky soul or ‘funky chill’. That's because it's funky music to chill on, or something like that ... I'm very proud to be number 7 in the Mixcloud Top 25 of Best Crate Diggers 2014

If you like what you hear, check out Eddy's other mixes on mixcloud -

11 Apr 201909 Jamie Gittins01:05:14

This week we welcome an old friend of BTTB, Mr. Jamie Gittins.

DJ, Promoter & occasional Producer, Jamie Gittins can probably use the tag Ibiza veteran by now, having spent the majority of the past 17 summers in Ibiza. In that time he's supplied the music at most of the big clubs, a fair amount of the beach clubs & bars and many a villa or random location across the island.

Like most Ibiza resident DJs, Jamie's music collection is pretty varied, so you are as likely to hear him playing soul, disco, & funk in the afternoon, as you are playing chillout for sunset or house music later at night.

Away from the white isle, Jamie has been lucky enough to take his sounds further afield, having toured Australia, Asia, Central America, The Middle East, Europe and many places in between.

The mix you're about to hear was recorded at Beachouse Ibiza, where you can regularly hear Jamie play...

11 Apr 201910 Andy G01:07:50

To celebrate reaching double figures, our very own Andy G will be taking us on a journey through classic pop, blue eyed disco, UK hip hop, dancehall and some original balearic flavours, exactly what 'Back To The Beach' is about - an eclectic selection of music to enjoy in the sunshine.
Have been playing records for around 20 odd years - taking in a five year residency at Bora Bora, Ibiza, a Mixmag cover CD, Clockwork Orange and several other Ibiza & London residencies - Andy earned his musical stripes through hard graft and good times.

In fact, it was on a lazy Saturday afternoon on the beach in Dubai - with a lack of suitable music on the iPod when the idea for Back To The Beach came to being.

So sit back and enjoy this mix - welcome to episode 10 :-)

13 Apr 201919 Andy Chopper00:58:26

We fly back to the UK for the 19th episode, brought to us by our dear friend and bona fide Blackpool hellraiser, Andy Chopper.
"For me beach house is a place, like bumming around on salinas beach listening to the trippy sounds of Jon Sa Trincha, or a back to mine compilation on after a heavy night dancing, something to sledge along to.
I have tried to give you lovely people a mix that can somehow transport you to your place wherever it may be. A heady mix of the old and the brand new, balearic classics finding their way through fresh as fuck spaced out disco. Put on your sunglasses, sit in the sun and let those tunes drift through your speakers, kick back or if you still wanna dance, then dance!"
Enjoy xx

From putting on nights with like-minded peers in the 90's, to guesting at various venues in the early 2000's, to having his own radio show, music is ever present.

15 Apr 201925 Dave Johnson01:24:26

For episode 25, we hand over to Dave Johnson. Here are some words from the man himself:
Thanks to the guys for giving me the opportunity to contribute to the excellent Back To The Beach podcast series, I’ve listened to them all and Wow! Tough acts to follow, I feel privileged to be among them all.
Producing a show every week, as I do with Area 32, I automatically thought digitally, then changed tack, and in keeping with the Balearic theme, I thought I’d contribute live on vinyl.
Having lived and worked in Ibiza for many years I know that feeling of healing after the club, laying on the beach with headphones on, so this is my interpretation of the Back To The Beach theme and the music I would want washing over me, laying on the beach the day after on our beautiful Island. I hope you agree and I hope you like it. Thank you.

16 Apr 201931 Funkward01:08:12

We've got something VERY special for you for episode 31. Our guest selector for Episode 31 is Funkward, from Montreal Canada.  "This is a mix is a culmination of all of my musical knowledge. I've poured hours of digging, editing, remixing, and deleting everything and starting over. It's a blend of old soul, funk, and psychedelic rock mixed with classic breaks and modern examples of how funky and soulful we can be.  The mix is a homage to all of the people behind the music, the people who inspired me to make music in the first place. It's also peppered with random samples that span the ages: from old time radio shows to Arnold Schwarzenegger calling out the CIA in Predator, to Brian Eno waxing philosophic about what this music thing is supposed to be about.

18 May 201932 DJ Agui01:11:02

We’re back, and to kick off our return we hand over to BTTB’s own Curtis Randles to introduce our latest selector.

"Back in 1999 I travelled to Ibiza, armed with two boxes of records, and managed to bag a residency at what was then known as Kanya Sunset Cafe, in San Antonio.
Working as night time bar manager was an Ibizan man named Augustine. Little did I know at the time, but he was also a DJ. As the season progressed, he would occasionally play a Sunset, effectively teaching me that it was all about emotion and tugging at people’s heart strings. We struck up a friendship, and would often go to Es Paradis after Kanya closed to listen to DJs, and communicate about music, via his limited English and my limited Spanish, over a whiskey or two. As the years went by I saw less of him, hearing he’d moved to Formentera.
Cut to 2015, and another great friend I made on the island, Andy G, contacted me with the initial premise for Back To The Beach. I thought of trying to obtain a mix from Augustine, but on later investigation found out he had sadly passed away.
Back in 2001, however, I’d pestered him all season long to record me a set, for my own listening pleasure. One night, he turned up at Kanya, unannounced, big grin on his face, clutching a CD. He’d recorded his set at Pacha Playa for me.
It’s that set from 2001 that we present to you now, in honour of our fondly remembered friend.
Here’s to you Augustine..."

Firstly let's get something straight, Guillaume Atlan, aka The Supermen Lovers, has something to say:

"Please forget Starlight. We had fun with it, you had fun with it, two million people had fun with it."

26 Jul 201937 Andres y Xavi00:58:41

At BTTB, we're always on the lookout for new music, for you lovely listeners, and let us tell you, we've uncovered a gem here. After hearing their debut album, (Available at https://andresyxavi.bandcamp.com/album/vibraciones-y-sentimientos ), we knew we had to try and get a mix from them. As we didn't have much info about them, we, albeit lazily, Google translated their brief Facebook bio, and here's what came out at the other end:

"Andrés and Xavi keep their identities hidden at this time. They are shy who retire with a love for Balearic music and Crowded House."

Go check them out at:https://www.facebook.com/pg/andresyxavisounds

And definitely grab their album on Bandcamp.

26 Oct 201943 Pocket Size Dave00:57:08

Episode 43 comes from DJ & producer, regular at the Beat-Herder festival, (where he first came to our attention), and all-round nice guy, Pocket Size Dave.
Dave has been honing his DJ skills since ‘99, when he started promoting club nights in his home town of Huddersfield. He quickly started to pick up bookings and moved on to hold residences at city centre bars and started working with reputable underground sound systems. He is equally at home worming up chilly warehouse raves as he is providing a 5 hour set in a ski resort night club. In the last few years he’s been playing out 5 nights a week in Val d’Isere, France, and running a regular club night sponsored by ski clothing brand “Planks”.

09 Nov 201944 Michael E00:59:00

For episode 44, we're proud to bring you the sunshine sounds of Michael E.

Learning piano at an early age, a teenage Michael, inspired by the reaction he had to the music of Motown, knew he wanted to get involved in making music with others. By his late teens he’d played with various cover bands and toured Europe.

Finding covers uninspiring, Michael knew he wanted to make his own music. Composing originally for solo piano, the advent of production software allowed him to paint the soundscapes of musical worlds, previously unavailable to him with a single instrument.

In 2006, Michael dedicated his life to music full time. Since then, he has released an astonishing 21 albums, and appeared on over 1250 compilations. Michael says, "Music is wonderful and I’m so lucky to be a part of it."

17 Apr 202049 Mark Day (Balearic Assassins of Love)01:00:00

We’re back, with some beautiful sunshine music for you from Mark Day from The Balearic Assassins Of Love, a hirsute raggle taggle DJ collective from various corners of the UK.
BAOL are a collective of vinyl junkies comprising of former BTTB guest selector, Steve KIW, King Sunny Ade P, Mark D and Picko-d. They worship at the Technics altar of sunrise and the quadraphonic wickerman of sunset-like 80s Kicker-shod party druids. Channeling ley-lines from Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads they encapsulate the spirit of acid house, the emotional joy of pop and the laid-back loose feel of the White Isle with whatever music works for them there and then! Forever on an eternal quest to slay the dragon of segregation and the pigeon-hole of pretense they gather frequently and mix together musical forms as diverse as hypno Latvian Acid Skiffle, Mystic Tibetan Yacht Rock and Hokus Pocus Voodoo Shizzle to create that eclectic, highly danceable, couldn’t care less, ‘last day of the holiday’ feel so beloved of British People in Hot Weather. BAOL were once famously described as “A cross between the opening party at Amnesia and the last days of Sodom and Gommorah”.

20 Jun 202053 Andy Carroll01:24:06

In his early days Andy's unique understanding of music, no matter where it's roots were, made him one of the UK's most popular DJs. His ability to mix genres still sets him apart from many of his peers. Whilst  Balearic was sweeping clubs in the south, Andy's philosophy of playing good music was making a name for himself in the north; along with DJ partner Mike Knowler at nightclub The State. 1986 saw Mike go to America introducing Andy to the new sound known as House on his return. The two embarked on a mission fuelled by the House & Garage sounds of Chicago, Detroit & New York. As the Acid House Rave-o-lution went ballistic across the UK, Andy was invited to DJ by Mike at what became the now legendary Quadrant Park.
Andy, alongside James Barton & Darren Hughes, would be responsible for the birth of one of the world's biggest clubbing brands, Cream. With Andy being resident DJ for over 10 years .
Here we present a recording of Andy, live at Ibiza's Sunset Ashram.

04 Jul 202054 DJ Spen00:59:18

We're delighted to welcome a true house music great to BTTB for episode 54.
With a career spanning more than 30 years , DJ Spen has become one of the most sought-after DJs, both in his native U.S.,  and around the world. From starting labels such as the legendary Basement Boys, Quantize Recordings, and Code Red, to producing and remixing some of the world's biggest acts, Spen has done it all. Producing under his own name, and aliases such as MuthaFunkaz, Basement Boys,  Jasper Street Company, you will have danced to his music, as while at Basement Boys, Spen partnered with Teddy Douglas, Thommy Davis and Karizma to create works that are still considered house anthems.

18 Jul 202055 Eva Crystaltips00:59:11

French born, Edinburgh based DJ, Eva Crystaltips is spreading her love for disco music with a hint of 'je ne sais quoi'.
A force to be reckoned with, and rising fast through the ranks on the disco circuit, her early years have already seen her play alongside heavyweights such as Horse Meat Disco, Hot Chip & Greg Wilson. Eva has gained some well due recognition over the past few years for her skill and selections and was subsequently selected last year to be part of the Smirnoff Equalising Music Programme seeing her take to stages at Snowbombing, Lost Village Festival & most notably a huge gig at London's 5000 capacity Printworks - with project mentors Artwork, The Black Madonna, Peggy Gou, Honey Dijon & more.
Her style, forever keeping audiences on their toes, infuses a mix of old original classics to the newer modern edits & remixes which both deliver a dose of nostalgia while keeping the floor guessing with her ever expanding collection of contemporary funk, soul, house and disco.

01 Aug 202056 Neil Craven01:05:48

For episode 56, we're pleased to welcome Neil Craven, and let him introduce himself: "Initially falling into dance music through the sounds of the late Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles and loving the soulful house and disco sounds they played, it progressed into a love of pretty much all forms of dance music. From the Old Skool 88-92 sounds that brought Acid House to the masses, to the early progressive sounds of the likes of labels such as Stress, Jackpot, Bedrock and Skinnymalinkey. Starting to DJ in 1994 but only going for 3 years before taking a 17 year break from all clubbing and DJing and starting up again back in 2014. Initially playing Old Skool gigs for a while and building back from there. I listen to and play all sorts. Old Skool, Techno, House, Progressive, Disco and Edits."

15 Aug 202057 REETA01:02:50

REETA is a proud mancunian & purveyor of incredible dance records. Influenced by the city's rich relationship with dance music culture, it is clear to see why REETA is making such a name for herself.
Bursting onto the scene with a residency for Lost in Music, she's gone from strength to strength. REETA’s style & skill has been recognised by local promoters & big names alike. Making her DEFECTED debut in Croatia, appearing on line ups for Sankeys, Beat Herder & District 8, this northern talent is fast gaining recognition for her abilities behind the decks.
Never bound by genre, she plays records that get people grooving. Her ability to switch it up & read the room is undeniable. REETA's performances radiate the fundamental core of love & unity that encapsulates the dance community, ensuring that she fulfils her role of serving loyal ravers on the dancefloor.
With releases out on Fingerman’s Hot Digits label and One Fold Records; REETA is quickly become a name to watch.

Episode 58 sees us welcome back old friend Phat Phil Cooper.
DJ, label manager, curator, record shop owner, event organiser, music consultant, Phil's done it all.
Musically, Phil is celebrated for his diverse approach to music. While at home championing the seductive, sun-kissed sounds released on his NuNorthern Soul label. Be that around the Globe or via his weekly radio shows & regular sessions on Mixcloud. Phil’s roots can be traced back to the dancefloors of legendary Liverpool club Cream, where he was a key resident DJ.
Away from the dancefloor, he’s best known for NuNorthern Soul & other current imprint, Through God’s Own Eyes.
NuNorthern Soul is on a fine run of form, with cracking releases & catalogue compilations.
Now residing in Ibiza with regular sunset sessions at La Torre, Phat Phil Cooper remains someone who lives & breathes music, showcases sounds he loves and promotes artists who inspire him.

12 Sep 202059 Paul Kerry01:26:45

Paul Kerry, or 'Kuz' as he is more widely known, has been kicking around the North East music scene for the best part of thirty years, from living & playing in Ibiza for almost eight years to playing the clubs and bars of Newcastle. Since family life and working away has caught up with him, he would probably consider himself more of a bedroom DJ now. This said, from time to time he gets to play at some of the city's best underground nights warming up for the likes of Optimo, Manpower and his good friends Last Waltz.
"This mix is one of those where you dig a few records out that you haven't listened to for a while and see what happens. I was definitely thinking about relaxing with an ice cold beer in the garden... Enjoy x"

27 Sep 202060 Luc Forlorn00:59:50

Luc Forlorn is a musician, composer and producer from the UK, who focuses on house, lounge, chillout, and ambient music. He is also very proudly one half of Lyfe&Daze, a collaboration project with his friend Jean Dovy.

When Luc discovered music production software he was granted the opportunity to experiment with a multitude of instrument sounds and record music with them. It has been a long road of discovery but he has worked to create and master a sonic soundscape which is uniquely his.

Luc has a long-term ambition to create powerful and emotional music which tells a story and takes the listener on a journey. He also aspires to take his compositions from his home studio to the world stage and perform with talented musicians around the world. His compositions blend the piano and orchestral instruments with the more contemporary, including samples, synthesizers, and electronic and ethnic instruments.

11 Oct 202061 Pete Fowler00:57:25

For episode 61, we’re over the moon to bring you a mix from Pete Fowler.
As an artist, Pete is known, most notably, for his long running association with Super Furry Animals, and his Monsterism project. Pete is also a DJ, with gigs as far apart as Japan and Port Meirion, his sets veering from 70’s smooth rock, discoid, balearic debris and more.
Pete is also one half of the deckshoegaze/cosmic disco outfit Seahawks.
Seahawks have been, sailing on solar winds, cooking up their catches and beachcombing for discarded, unwanted and buried treasures. Sometimes too covered in thick tar for most to notice. Psychedelic yacht rock, deck shoegaze, hazy beach pop vibrations and marina drone are all ports of call.
So, as the sun tries to break through the clouds here at BTTB HQ, get yourself something refreshing, sit back and let Pete guide you through his sublime selection.

24 Oct 202062 Steve Optix01:00:00

Steve Optix is a, primarily, vinyl DJ, whose tastes span many genres. As a teenager, Steve was heavily influenced by the sounds he picked up emanating from the pirate radio station Kiss FM. Steve has had the chance to play all sorts of sets, beginning in 1993, playing hardcore, jungle & techno. In later years, his refusal to be tied to one genre, his sets would see him playing house, big beat, trip hop, d’n’b, and trance.
No stranger to the radio airwaves himself, Steve has had shows on Kane FM, Spectrum FM, and Red Light Radio in Amsterdam.
Steve is also known for putting on his own nights, such as Backroom Beatz, Funk Phenomena, and Liquid Funk.
Hanging up the headphones to concentrate on his young family, Steve carried on buying records, and in recent years has made a return to the decks, bringing his genre spanning, Balearic tastes to his own Parents Evening and Vinyl Lab events.

01 Nov 202063 A Tribute To José Padilla02:10:12

Unfortunately, last month saw the loss of another of our greatest influences here at BTTB. José Padilla, the original DJ at the Café Del Mar. The maestro of the sunset. If the eighties Balearic scene was led by Alfredo, the nineties belonged to José Padilla. His best selling compilations introducing the world to what was possible.
It's true to say that without Señor Padilla's influence, there'd probably be no BTTB, so we couldn't let his passing occur without paying homage to the illustrious DJ and selector.
Andy and Curtis have chosen some of their favourite tracks, both by the man himself, and tunes introduced to them via the famous compilations and legendary mixtapes.
Travel well Maestro, and thank you for the music...

22 Nov 202064 Matteo (Balearic Vibes Mixtapes)00:59:14

For episode 64, we're proud to bring you this mix from Italy's Matteo.
We first encountered Matteo via his excellent, and very popular Balearic Vibes Mixtape series on Mixcloud. After hearing these, we knew we needed to get a mix from him, and he hasn't dissapointed. The sun's shining here at BTTB HQ, and this mix is the perfect soundtrack.
You can check out Matteo's Mixcloud over at https://www.mixcloud.com/matteo-bomber/

05 Dec 202065 Marco Giannini01:04:06

Hailing from Manchester Marco Giannini is a well known figure in the city having been a DJ for twenty years playing in a wide range of styles across the city’s finest venues. With his love for house, disco, techno as well as synth pop, new wave, electro and hip hop you can expect to hear any of the above genres in his fluid and well constructed sets.
His reputation as a DJ of considerable skill has also led to gigs all over the globe, and residencies at Manchester's Sankey’s Soap, Warehouse Project, and The Refuge, to name but a few.
Marco has also been a well-known promoter in the city over the last couple of years. His latest project Sticky Heat has seen him bring Norwegian Disco legend Lindstrøm to Manchester. With 2020 putting paid to his plans this year, 2021 will see him make his Camp Bestival debut, and hopefully the return of Sticky Heat.
So sit back and enjoy this ace mix that Marco’s kindly put together for us. Enjoy.

19 Dec 202066 Warriors of the Dystotheque37:14:33
Warriors of The Dystotheque is the brain child of Jonny Mac, who has performed around the world with Phil Hartnoll (Orbital), Leeroy (The Prodigy), and Shaun Ryder & Bez. Jonny has held residencies at Coastline, Savannah, Bar M & Eden in Ibiza playing sunset and breaks. 2019 saw him tour Thailand, including a memorable sunset gig in Koh Samui at The Social. Numerous appearances at V Festival amongst others. His breaks night,  Frequency was a huge hit across the Midlands for the best part of a decade, before Jonny returned home to Ireland in 2011 and shelved “Jonny Mac”.
After a break of a few years he started his new project Warriors of the Dystotheque in 2014 and since then its been steadily making noise with 8 eps and an album “Madness in the Method” all gaining major support from the likes of BBC 6 Music, BBC R1, BBC’s Ulster, Foyle and Coventry as well as Ireland’s RTE2 FM, KEXP.
WotD is unique in that it’s a collaborative project, but none of the collaborators have been in the same country throughout the precess, let alone the same studio. WotD grew from an Anti Social network love of lo-fi jazz based music and electronic DJ and street culture with collaborating artists spanning the globe and musical genres. Their most recent collaboration being with Howie B, entitled “No Borders”, which you may have heard on BTTB’s Amateurism Radio show.

30 Jan 202167 Imster01:32:45

For episode 67, we bring to you this sublime mix from Rotterdam based Imster. We first met Imster at the excellent Electric Elephant festival at The Garden Tisno, in Croatia. In 2017, BTTB's Curtis Randles joined Imster on the bill of The Lost Disco festival on the same site. Some late night conversations about music and life, hearing Imster's selections, and plenty of dancing led to us asking him if he would be interested in providing a mix for you lovely people. Whether it be disco, funk, house or soul, obscure finds or absolute classics, as long as it provides a good feeling, Imster is happy to play it.
This will be come self evident when you sit back and listen to Imster's mix. Inspired by lazy afternoons in Tisno, hopefully his mix will bring some of that Adriatic sunshine to where you are... x

13 Mar 202170 Cesar de Melero01:00:56
One of the musical pioneers, bringing house music to Spain, Cesar de Melero has been at the forefront of the international DJ scene since the early 80’s. One of the pillars of forging what was to become known as the Balearic sound, he was one of the first to play acid house on the White Isle, with his 10 year long residency at the world famous KU club in Ibiza. He was also one of the first Djs to play at both Space & Pacha. Not to mention his 6 year residency at Amnesia for, “people From Ibiza”.
1987 saw the opening of Ars Estudio in Barcelona. Spain’s first house club, with Cesar as DJ & promoter. The club even attracted Keith Haring, who created one of his paintings live.
In 1992, “Night Moves”, a collaboration with brother Chito, entered the British charts, and started Cesar’s successful & long production career. Cesar, along with some Parisian friends started Pro-Zak Trax one of the most recognised labels of the French house scene.
27 Mar 202171 Howler01:00:16
We first came across Howler via his Balearic Breakdown series on Mixcloud, and knew we had to ask him to provide a mix for BTTB. Since we first spoke, Howler has launched the excellent Balearic t-shirt company Disco Tees, bringing you dancefloor inspired clothing, with a high Balearic quotient. As well as the great t-shirts, the site also has a very informative blog section, which we highly recommend.
You can find Howler out in the wild, so to speak, at this year’s always brilliant Alfresco Festival, where he’ll be playing on the Eclectics stage on Friday 27th of August.
The sun’s shining here at BTTB HQ, and I’m sure you’ll agree, Howler’s mix is just the thing to accompany those blue skies. Get it on and take it easy. It is the weekend after all.

22 May 202175 Problematic Disko01:04:59
There are blue skies over BTTB HQ this morning, but can neither confirm or deny that this is a side effect of  our latest episode from Problematic Disko.
Who are Problematic Disko? Well, we’ll let them introduce themselves:

“We mix house, disco, acid, deep & the occasional slice of techno, for the freaks, jammers, queens, lovers & all others. We could go on to say things such as 25 blah blah years ago experience behind the blah blah ones & twos, or made people shed tears on the dancefloors circa 94 blah blah. However we’d rather let the music do the talking. Here’s a downtempo beach set with a Problematic Disco twist.”

We can’t promise blue skies where you are, but why not give it a try?

03 Jul 202178 Calm01:06:24
If you love sun-kissed, dreamy music, there's a fair chance that your music collection contains something by Fukagawa Kiyotaka, aka Calm.
The Japanese producer made his debut way back in 1997, joining the dots between nu-jazz, breakbeat & deep house. He has delivered a dizzying number of albums over the last 2 decades, mostly on his own Music Corporation imprint, and more recently on the excellent Hell Yeah! Recordings. The label, a perfect fit for Calm, being a place to find some of the best recent “Balearica”. His album, “By Your Side”, supported by scene big hitters Phil Mison, Chris Coco & Mixmaster Morris.
"The concept of Balearic is still abstract to me," Kiyotaka admits. "There are so many things I do not understand, so I am still collecting records and absorbing information about it like a sponge. I have never been to Ibiza, so I hope to go over and DJ there soon."
We think you’ll agree, after hearing this mix, that Calm’s understanding of Balearic is just perfect.

17 Jul 202179 Francesco Farfa01:05:36

From a production perspective, Farfa is always evolving with each new 12″. Timeless sounds that always leave an impression, Farfa’s records have earned a renaissance of late thanks to the support of numerous high-profile players from the scene. Farfa’s music has been called everything from psychedelic techno to cyber-trance, but it is impossible to truly define, with Farfa instead going in whatever direction his heart takes him.

15 Aug 202182 Residentes Balearicos01:00:55
Residentes Balearicos are a duo from Ibiza, consisting of Luca Averna and Alessandro Doretto. Luca is a DJ and works mainly with his friend Camilo Miranda at the legendary Pikes Hotel.

Residentes Balearicos is a project founded by Luca Averna and Ale Doretto, both resident DJs in Ibiza and both hailing form Venice, Italy.
Together, they make music that tries to capture the amorphous energy of Ibiza, sizzling on sunny beaches, lulling through lounge conversations, and reaching palpable states in throbbing club nights before disseminating into the countryside air for replenishment.
The project is based on a collaborative idea where Luca and Ale invite other artists from the island into the studio with the aim of sparking up new and fresh ideas for how Balearic music can sound, both within chillout and dancefloor disciplines.

26 Sep 202183 J-Walk00:59:10
The blue skies, here at BTTB HQ, are the perfect accompaniment to our latest episode, mix from J-Walk.
Martin Brew, aka J-Walk, has been DJing and buying records religiously since he was a teen. This desire to always keep up with what’s happening has seen him revered as one of Manchester’s finest selectors.
Prior to producing music as J-Walk, Martin was the proprietor of the city’s legendary Fat City record shop, and a member of the Fat City All Stars DJ collective, recording deep dub explorations under the Strange Brew guise.
Originally a duo, J-Walk is now a solo project, with Martin playing the role of all members of a fictitious band. Writing, playing and recording all of the instruments himself.
Starting with the classic “Soul Vibrations”, J-Walk’s music has been a staple in the bags of those DJs that know. We’re delighted to be able to bring you this mix from Martin, and urge you to check out his music if you haven’t done so already.
