Canadian born video game writer, Mitch Dyer talks about his experience as one of the story leads on the epic #StarWars game, #BattleFront2. In part one of this two part episode, Mitch talks about creating characters like #Shriv, #IdenVersio and #DelMeeko as well as the creation of a new story set just before #TheForceAwakens.  Mitch has been telling stories for more than a decade. He wrote about games as a critic and journalist for 25+ outlets before eventually joining #IGN as an Editor. He wrote original news, produced and hosted video shows, and shared behind-the-scenes stories about game development to an audience of more than 200 million.    In 2016 Mitch joined EA’s Motive Studios where he wrote for the AIAS-nominated Star Wars Battlefront II, as well as Star Wars: Squadrons and an unannounced AAA new IP.  In 2020, he left Motive to become a full-time contract writer.

From the ILM website: Hal Hickel joined Industrial Light & Magic in 1996 as an animator for The Lost World: Jurassic Park. His special interest in animation lies in the challenge of integrating fantastic characters and creatures into live-action films. He was promoted to Lead Animator on his second film and was responsible for animating several characters in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.  
In 2000, Hickel moved up to Animation Supervisor, teaming up with multi-Academy Award®-winning visual effects supervisor Dennis Muren on Steven Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence. In 2007, his work on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest was recognized with both an Academy Award® for Outstanding Achievement in Visual Effects and the BAFTA for Best Achievement in Visual Effects.  
Hickel was the Animation Supervisor on Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi epic, Pacific Rim, for which he received his fifth BAFTA nomination and a Visual Effects Society Nomination for Outstanding Visual Effects. Prior to that, he was the Animation Director on ILM’s first animated feature, Rango, which received the Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature.  Originally from Portland, Oregon, Hickel studied Film Graphics at the California Institute of the Art before being hired by Will Vinton Studios as a clay animator and motion-control operator for commercials and television specials featuring the California Raisins, amongst other characters.

Anthrax is an American heavy metal band from New York City, formed in 1981 by rhythm guitarist Scott Ian. The group is considered one of the leaders of the thrash metal scene from the 1980s and is part of the "Big Four" of the genre, along with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. Hal Hickel is the Oscar winning Animation Supervisor at Industrial Light and Magic who, among many other things, has been leading #VFX work on #BabyYoda in #TheMandalorian. Hal Hickel joined Industrial Light & Magic in 1996 as an animator for The Lost World: Jurassic Park. His special interest in animation lies in the challenge of integrating fantastic characters and creatures into live-action films. He was promoted to Lead Animator on his second film and was responsible for animating several characters in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.  
In 2000, Hickel moved up to Animation Supervisor, teaming up with multi-Academy Award®-winning visual effects supervisor Dennis Muren on Steven Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence. In 2007, his work on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest was recognized with both an Academy Award® for Outstanding Achievement in Visual Effects and the BAFTA for Best Achievement in Visual Effects.  
Hickel was the Animation Supervisor on Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi epic, Pacific Rim, for which he received his fifth BAFTA nomination and a Visual Effects Society Nomination for Outstanding Visual Effects. Prior to that, he was the Animation Director on ILM’s first animated feature, Rango, which received the Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature.  
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Hickel studied Film Graphics at the California Institute of the Art before being hired by Will Vinton Studios as a clay animator and motion-control operator for commercials and television specials featuring the California Raisins, amongst other characters.

Mark Anthony Austin is known to #StarWars fans as  Boba Fett in A New Hope #SpecialEdition. As a Boba Fan his whole life, it was a dream come true to play Fett in ANH. Join us as we talk about his Star Wars journey and donning #BobaFett's #Mandalorian armor.  
After earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree from West Surrey College of Art and Design in Surrey, England, Mark went on to make the filmed animated short, “Father” that would later be nominated for a BAFTA and eventually win numerous awards. Soon after, Mark started his career in earnest at the Wyatt Cattaneo Animation Studio in London overseeing the commercial campaigns of the company’s largest European brand names, including Tetley Tea Bags, Ribena and the Swiss Bank Corporation.   
In 1993 Mark moved to LucasFilm’s Industrial Light and Magic to work on Steven Spielberg’s “Casper” and then given charge of the creature animation for the first “Star Wars” Special Edition. Mark soon moved on to Walt Disney Feature Animation as a supervising animator on such projects as “Dinosaur,” “Treasure Planet,” Disney World’s 3D attraction: “Mickey’s Philharmagic,” followed by “Chicken Little" and then “Bolt.”  
June 2009 to June2014 - Head of Animation at The Third Floor Inc., the world's leading and only international pre-visualization company.  During his 5 years there Mark has had the privilege of working closely with such directors as Steven Spielberg ("Warhorse"), Sam Raimi ("Oz the Great and Powerful"), Joss Whedon ("Avengers"), Peter Berg (“Battleship”), Rob Cohen (“Medieval”), Guy Ritchie (“Lobo”) and Marcus Nispel (“Conan”).

Star Wars Legends author, Kevin J. Anderson, is the prolific author of 165 books with more than 50 having become bestsellers. Star Wars fans will know him for his Legends era books from the Jedi Academy series, Young Jedi Knights and the Tales Of The Jedi comic series from Dark Horse. He has also written 14 #Dune novels with the son. of the late Frank Herbert, Brian Herbert. David has spent the last 25 years in TV and radio, broadcasting, producing, directing and making top quality, award winning films. He spent 23 years at the BBC presenting the BBC One Current Affairs Programme 'Inside Out'. He has also presented and produced films for 'The One Show' (BBC ONE), The Victoria Derbyshire programme (BBC TWO) and fronted/produced documentaries for BBC FOUR, BBC WORLD and BBC ARTS. On top of that he has also presented hundreds of hours of live TV.    Born on May the Fourth (Yes, Star Wars day!), 1977 (the year Star Wars was released), he was destined to be a life-long fan of the movies. Having hit upon the idea of making a documentary about the Brits behind Star Wars, he embarked on, what would become a four-year project to tell their stories. Firstly in 2017, with an hour long film, 'The Galaxy Britain Built' broadcast on BBC FOUR and BBC WORLD and then extending that to a 90 minute feature in 2019.    David has also written a book, The Galaxy Britain Built: The British Talent Behind Star Wars. (Published by U.S. publisher, BearManor Media). In 2019, he also made a 30-minute featurette about Palitoy Star Wars Toys and the phenomenon in Britain, 'Toy Empire.' Both Star Wars documentaries received widespread critical acclaim as well as Royal Television Society Awards (Programme of the Year and Post-Production).    David now runs the production company Galaxy Productions.   David also works as a media consultant and trainer with many UK and global brands including Marks and Spencer, Mini Cooper, Anglian Water, Gardline Marine Surveys, CEFAS and Bernard Matthews. He can offer bespoke training as well as corporate advice and filmmaking.   David is an experienced and regular host of prestigious industry awards ceremonies around the UK. Clients include LABC, NORSE, The Kingsley Group and Archant Media. He can entertain a room of hundreds of people and ensure a good night is had by all.

He was previously the Co-Executive Producer of TNT's hit series, The Librarians. Other TV credits include TNT's Agent X, ABC's Castle and USA's Necessary Roughness.

In addition, Altman (along with writing partner Steve Kriozere) have sold numerous pilots including to USA Networks and, most recently, developed pilots for Beacon Pictures and Sony Pictures Television. Altman has also produced the $30 million film adaptation of the bestselling video game, DOA: Dead Or Alive (Dimension Films). His first film was the much beloved and award winning, Free Enterprise, starring William Shatner and Eric McCormack, which he wrote and produced and for which he won the WGA Award for Best New Writer at the AFI Los Angeles Film Festival prior to its theatrical release. He is also a producer of the House of the Dead series, based on the videogame from Sega, released by Lionsgate. In addition, he produced James Gunn's superhero satire, The Specials, starring Thomas Haden Church and Rob Lowe.

His bestselling two-volume book, The Fifty-Year Mission: The Complete Uncensored, Unauthorized History of Star Trek, was released by St. Martin's Press in Summer 2016 in hardcover to unanimous critical acclaim including raves in The Wall Street Journal, Booklist and Publishers Weekly. His subsequent oral history of Battlestar Galactica, So Say We All, was released in 2018 by Tor Books and a follow-up on the James Bond film series will be released in 2020.

Altman is a former entertainment journalist. Altman has contributed to such newspapers and magazines as The Boston Globe, Written By, L'Cinefage, Film Threat, The Guardian, The Boston Edge, Cult TV, and many others, including Cinenfantastique for which he launched their independent film division, CFQ Films, which produced numerous successful genre features.

Altman has spoken at numerous industry events and conventions, including ShowBiz Expo as well as the Variety/Final Draft Screenwriters Panel at the Cannes Film Festival. He was a juror at the prestigious Sitges Film Festival in Barcelona, Spain. He has been a frequent guest and panelist at Comic-Con held annually in San Diego, CA and a two-time juror for the Comic-Con Film Festival. In addition to being a graduate of the WGA Showrunners Training Program, he is a member of the Television Academy.

Born in Miami, Florida, Catrina is a first-generation American on her father's side and is the granddaughter of published Chilean poet Eduardo Dennis. She began writing at an early age, publishing everything from fan fiction to 'zines to spec scripts, until the dam broke when she was given her first laptop and she began making short films & radio shows on her own.

After graduating from high school, Catrina spent time in Orlando, FL during college and began competing in amateur film competitions with homemade shorts. She would move on to finish school while living in Brooklyn, NY before her passion for storytelling and pop culture ultimately led her to Los Angeles.

There, Catrina began working within entertainment media as a host for various popular YouTube channels and taking on small on-camera roles in music videos, including a feature in Never Let This Go's "Right Now" music video, produced for Stan Lee's World of Heroes.

Catrina has featured as a pop culture expert on the Syfy channel's Krypton Behind-The-Scenes Specials, Black Series Rebels' Live Special, and Geek&Sundry's Wednesday Club, hosted various podcasts (including Woman Up!, Hanging with Team Kanan, and Y Tu Bantha Tambien), along with leading live streams for good causes of various sorts (like 2018's FamCon and 2020's The Council). She is a frequent pop culture convention attendee and has been an on-the-ground reporter for ComicBook as well as Syfy's Fangrrls.

Along with her work in front of the camera, Catrina has served in crew and lead positions on multiple productions, including her efforts as Assistant Producer of 2019's Looking for Leia.

Misty Rosas, a rare, one of a kind, multitalented artist. Her artistic endeavors are broad and varied, but one thing is for certain, whatever she chooses to do, she puts her whole heart and soul into it!

Misty's career began when she took her first gymnastics class at the age of 2 1/2. She loved it so much it was difficult to get her to leave at the end of the session. "There were tears involved!" Her gymnastics career spanned 17 years, and was highlighted when Misty was chosen to join the U.S. National Gymnastics Team as an Elite gymnast. Throughout this period, Misty continued to study dance, especially ballet, as an integral part of her gymnastics training. She combined her dance and performance skills to land her first professional job at age 18. She was hired to perform in a succession of Disney stage productions including, "Fantasmic!", "The Lion King Parade", and "The Very Merry Christmas Parade". "I love to dance, and getting the opportunity to be Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and a dancing monkey (in "Fantasmic!"), was a wonderful job!" When Misty moved to Los Angeles, she began training at the Edge Performing Arts Center for dance, vocal studies with John Deaver, and acting classes at the Henke Acting Studio. It was there that Misty first heard the quote that has guided her efforts ever since, "Luck happens when opportunity meets preparation".

Misty landed her first major film role as the lead ape character, Amy, in the Paramount Pictures movie "Congo". This "break of a lifetime" thrust her career full speed ahead. "It was such a thrilling adventure!" The ”Congo" experience felt like an advanced and accelerated course in acting, learning and understanding blocking, acting to multiple camera angles, and of course, learning how to feel, breathe, and be a gorilla. To be quite honest, I was very overwhelmed and I struggled a lot at first, but it was a tremendous opportunity, so I worked very hard, and everyday I went into the work with this intention, “I will never give up!” This was also the point where Misty developed the ability to work "blind". The ape head was animatronic, designed with no accommodation for vision, so Misty had to memorize her physical position within the set, and in relation to that of the other actors, in order to make it appear that she was comfortably "looking" through Amy's eyes. Misty was under the tutelage of renowned movement artists and character actors, Peter Elliot and John Alexander. The techniques she learned enabled her to book several more jobs in partnership with the Stan Winston Studios (now named Legacy Effects). Misty considers her long-standing and rewarding relationship with Legacy Effects, to be one of the lynchpins of her success.

It was during the filming of "Congo" that Misty began to perform stunts. Her height and gymnastics abilities led to an ongoing inventory of stunt roles. Her stunts have been featured in dozens of films and television episodes including, "Van Helsing", "Casper: A Spirited Beginning", "Casper & Wendy" (stunt doubling Hillary Duff), "Three Kings", "Charlie Wilson's War", America's Most Wanted, Rescue 911, Sliders, and Boston Legal "I got to tackle William Shatner, Woohoo!". While working on the enormous sets of "Van Helsing", Misty added wire work and fire burns to her growing list of stunt skills. "It was radical!.......TOASTY!"

In 2002, Misty began her very successful association with the Jim Henson Company. First, in the Disney movie "The Country Bears", and since then in a number of realtime Computer Generated (CG) animation projects. These performances include the title roles of Sid, in the PBS series "Sid the Science Kid", and T.J. in "T.J. Bearytales", and most recently, the Jim Henson Company/Netflix collaboration “Word Party”. Misty is the motion capture/body performer for the lovable, yet feisty and irreverent character, Lulu. In preparing for "The Country Bears", "I took the skills I learned from "Congo" and "Instinct", and then was taught, by Michelan Sisti, the techniques needed to perform the character of Beary. It was different from my previous experience, so Micha spent a great deal of time patiently working with me to develop my skills. Acting in “The Country Bears" movie gave Misty the opportunity to meet Brian Henson. "Brian invited me to work on a Muppet Babies test shoot with Micha. It was my first Motion Capture (mocap) experience. WOW!, it was humbling! I had the hardest time finding the virtual camera! Micha kept pointing at the camera-like red lights 15 feet above me, all around me, saying, "Find your eye lines by looking at those", and I said, “I don’t understand? What camera? There is no camera? Where? The work in the motion capture space is both mentally and physically grueling! You cannot lose your concentration ever! Star Wars: The Mandalorian. Misty’s most recent role is a reunion with her friends at Legacy Effects, Kathleen Kennedy, and the Walt Disney Company. And now, she is also welcomed into the Lucasfilm/Star Wars family. Her hard work, training, and a lengthy resume, made Misty the natural choice for the already beloved character of Kuiil. Kuiil is voiced by the Oscar nominated and Golden Globe winning actor, Nick Nolte. Misty really enjoyed creating the perfect body for such a perfect voice. Kuiil has already coined his own signature line too, with the popular, "I have spoken". The Mandalorian premiered November 12th, 2019 on the Disney+ streaming platform. In the Fall of 2019, the company began shooting Season 2 which is slated for a Fall 2020 release.

Misty's music! Her most recent venture to add to her skill set: Singer, songwriter, recording artist. Misty recorded her debut album at the world renowned Henson Recording Studio (formerly the A&M Studios). She collaborated with Paul Graham, vocal producer of "Sid the Science Kid", and his music partner (currently on tour with Tim McGraw) Paul Bushnell. Together they have recorded and produced Misty’s album, “Life Lessons Love”, as well as, her new single, “Paper House”. Her music and music videos have earned her an HMMA nomination, 2 Telly Award wins, film placement, Spotify playlist placement, and features in various film festivals. What Misty is most proud of is the opportunity to open for her music heroes, Air Supply. She has opened for the band 3 times, and the highlight, so far, has been opening for Air Supply at The Starlight Bowl, in Burbank, Ca. When Misty isn't performing you can find her practicing and teaching Bikram yoga. She graduated from Bikram's grueling, nine week Teacher Training program in 2006, and she has been teaching ever since. Her favorite words of wisdom by Bikram Choudhury, "You're never too old, never too bad, never too late and never too sick to start from the scratch once again." To which Misty would add, "Don't think about it, just put your yoga clothes on, and do it! Practice Bikram yoga for your health and your happiness! It changes you from the inside out!" "DO WHAT YOU LOVE. LOVE WHAT YOU DO!"

David W Collins is a sound editor and designer for Skywalker Sound and the host of The Soundtrack Show podcast. He has worked on some of the earliest LucasArts video games, voiced characters in The Mandalorian, The Rise of Skywalker and more. Martin started at Lucasfilm in 2007 as the buyer/product developer for StarWarsShop.com before moving to the Lucasfilm digital team managing content for StarWars.com, overseeing social media and producing videos as the manager, digital content, and community relations.
