07 Feb 2022Do Oneness Pentecostals Teach Salvation by Works?00:14:44

Oneness Pentecostals sometimes are accused of preaching salvation by works, particularly because they insist that full salvation includes water baptism. Often the person leveling the charge will cite Ephesians 2:8–9, where Paul wrote, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

Dr. David K. Bernard responds to this accusation and examines what the Bible says about the connection between faith and obedience.

14 Feb 2022Why Would a Loving God Send People to Hell?00:17:29

The Bible clearly paints a picture of God as a loving Creator and Savior who cares for everyone. At the same time, the Bible also is very adamant that there will be a day of judgement in which God banishes unbelievers to a place of everlasting torment. To many, this seems like a contradiction. How can a supposedly loving God punish people for eternity just because they didn't hold the right set of beliefs?

Dr. David K. Bernard addresses this frequently-asked question by reviewing what the Bible actually says about sin, judgment, justice, punishment, and reward.

21 Feb 2022Do Babies Go to Heaven If They Die?00:11:34
How does God judge aborted babies, infants, the mentally challenged, and others who are unable to respond to the gospel? Does the Bible support the idea of an "age of accountability"?

Dr. David K. Bernard tackles this age-old question by examining what the Bible says about God's judgment, grace, and love.

28 Feb 2022Is It a Sin to Use Cannabis Products?00:07:44

Apostolic Pentecostals have always taken a stand against recreational drug use, including the use of marijuana. But recent developments have seen marijuana go mainstream, with some physicians even prescribing it for medicinal purposes. Products infused with cannabidiol (CBD), a chemical found in marijuana, also have become popular. But are these marijuana-based products and remedies compatible with Christian teaching?

Dr. David K. Bernard answers this question by reviewing what the Bible says about Christian stewardship of the body.

In the episode, Dr. Bernard references a Mayo Clinic article titled "What are the benefits of CBD — and is it safe to use?"

07 Mar 2022Is the Earth Only 6,000 Years Old?00:19:00

Many scientists say geological findings and other natural phenomena prove the earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old. On the other hand, young earth creationism argues that the biblical record shows that the earth is only 6,000-10,000 years old. Does science contradict Scripture? If so, which is right?

Dr. David K. Bernard examines the claims of both modern science and the opening chapters of the Book of Genesis and offers his thoughts on how Christians should interpret the Creation account and what the Bible says about the natural world.

14 Mar 2022When Will the Rapture Happen?00:16:47

Will Christians be caught up into the sky in an event known as the "Rapture"? Does the Bible say when this event will occur? Critics like to point out that the word rapture doesn’t appear anywhere in Scripture. Some argue that the modern idea of the Rapture originated in the 1800s with John Nelson Darby and was made popular by the Scofield Reference Bible.

Dr. David K. Bernard responds to the critics and answers these questions by laying out what the Scriptures say about this world-changing event.

21 Mar 2022Is America a Christian Nation?00:20:08

A debate currently is raging in the United States over the principles of the country's founding. On one side are those who argue that the American system of government was established on Judeo-Christian principles by men who were predominantly Christian, or at least were profoundly influenced by Christianity. Opponents of this view argue that America is fundamentally flawed because it was founded on unjust practices such as slavery and the violent exploitation of indigenous people.

Dr. David K. Bernard offers his thoughts on whether America really is "one nation under God" as the Pledge of Allegiance affirms or a society built on a foundation of oppression and injustice.

28 Mar 2022Should Christians Be Concerned about Climate Change?00:12:49

Late in 2021, a series of tornadoes swept across the Mid-South region of the United States, killing dozens of people and destroying millions of dollars in property. Almost immediately, some politicians pinned the blame on manmade climate change. This has been a recurring refrain: according to the media and some politicians, climate change is the culprit behind every natural disaster, and immediate action must be taken to avert a global crisis.

Dr. David K. Bernard examines these claims along with what the Bible says about Christian stewardship of the natural world. In doing so, he offers guidance on how Christians can respond to claims of a looming climate disaster.

04 Apr 2022Should Apostolics Read the Apocrypha?00:07:54

Some Christian groups, including the Roman Catholic Church, have accepted as canonical or semi-canonical several Jewish writings dating from about 200 BC to 30 BC (and one from about AD 100). These writings are commonly called the Apocrypha. Fourteen such writings even appeared in the original edition of the King James Version. So why isn't the Apocrypha included in most modern Bibles?

Dr. David K. Bernard offers a brief overview of the Apocrypha and explains why neither the early church nor modern Oneness Pentecostals view these writings as divinely inspired.

11 Apr 2022Did Jesus Really Rise from the Dead?00:12:41

This Sunday, Christians around the world will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But while believers rejoice, skeptics scoff. They argue that bodily resurrection from the dead is a physical impossibility and the Gospel accounts of an empty tomb are little more than fairy tales.

Dr. David K. Bernard responds to critics by sharing logical reasons to believe that the Gospel writers were telling the truth when they gave witness to Jesus' resurrection.

18 Apr 2022Why Shouldn’t I Stay Home and Watch Church Online?00:08:58

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit North America and government officials asked everyone to quarantine, many churches began streaming worship services via the internet. Online services proved to be a great evangelism tool, and many churches continued the practice even after in-person worship resumed. But pastors report that some members have opted to permanently forgo in-person worship in favor of more convenient online services.

Is online church a sufficient replacement for in-person worship? Dr. David K. Bernard responds to this question by explaining why attending a physical church location offers numerous spiritual advantages over worshipping from the comfort of your living room.

25 Apr 2022What Does the Bible Say about Facial Hair?00:17:08

Anyone who has been part of the Oneness Pentecostal movement for any length of time knows that facial hair on men has been a somewhat controversial topic. Dr. David K. Bernard explains why and how previous generations of Apostolics in North America came to view facial hair in a negative light. He also examines what the Bible says about facial hair, and how Apostolic Pentecostals should approach the subject today.

02 May 2022Are There Modern-Day Apostles and Prophets?00:13:28

In Ephesians 4:11, the apostle Paul lists five ministerial offices: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. Most modern churches and Christian organizations recognize pastors, teachers, and even evangelists, but are hesitant to use the labels apostle and prophet. Are these two offices no longer relevant to the operation of the church?

In this episode, Dr. David K. Bernard examines each office in the five-fold ministry and explains how these roles function in the modern Apostolic church.

09 May 2022What Educational Path Should Apostolic Students Follow?00:16:27

Many Apostolic students are currently trying to decide what educational path they will follow. Some may feel a call to ministry, but aren’t quite sure what that ministry is. They also may have academic gifts and interests they would like to pursue, but don't know how to balance education and ministry.

Dr. David K. Bernard answers this frequently-asked question by drawing on his own experiences as a student, teacher, and pastor. He also reviews the educational options and opportunities that are available to today's Apostolic students who want to pursue God's will while developing the gifts He has given them.

16 May 2022Why Does God Care about Sex and Marriage?00:18:11

Why is sex between consenting adults any of God's business? That certainly seems to be the prevailing attitude of Western society. This "anything goes" sexual ethic directly contradicts the Scriptures, which clearly teach that God has established boundaries around human sexual expression. But why does God think those boundaries are necessary?

Dr. David K. Bernard explains how both sociology and science support the biblical teaching that sex is permissible only within a marriage relationship between one man and one woman. Dr. Bernard's answer will provide clarity to anyone who has ever asked why God cares what consenting adults do behind closed doors.

23 May 2022Can a Christian Be Demon Possessed?00:12:34

The New Testament includes many accounts of Jesus and the apostles confronting and casting out demons. Are demonic spirits still active in the world today? Can a Christian be possessed by a demon?

Dr. David K. Bernard draws on Scripture and his experiences traveling and preaching around the globe to answer these important questions. He shows that, while Satanic forces certainly are at work in the modern world, believers have victory over them through Jesus Christ.

30 May 2022Why Do Some People Struggle to Receive the Holy Spirit?00:16:36

If the Holy Spirit is promised to everyone, as the apostle Peter said in Acts 2:39, then why do some people seem to struggle to receive this gift? Dr. David K. Bernard discusses why some spiritual seekers receive the Holy Spirit almost immediately, while others seemingly struggle for months or years without experiencing this biblical promise. He offers practical advice and encouragement for those who are seeking for the Holy Spirit, as well as for spiritual leaders who are praying with them.

If you would like to explore this topic further, Dr. Bernard's book The New Birth provides an in-depth look at what Oneness Pentecostals believe about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. His book Spiritual Leadership in the Twenty-First Century includes a chapter on "Praying with Seekers."

06 Jun 2022Is Jesus the Eternal or Begotten Son of God?00:12:41

John 3:16 refers to Jesus as God's "only begotten Son." However, some theologians refer to Jesus as the “Eternal Son." There is a doctrine known as “eternal Sonship” which teaches that Jesus has eternally existed as the Son of God. According to this doctrine, Christ is and always has been the Son of God.

Dr. David K. Bernard examines what the Scriptures say about the sonship of Jesus Christ and why this debate matters to anyone who is committed to biblical truth.

13 Jun 2022How Should Christians Respond to Conspiracy Theories?00:09:08

The moon landing was faked. The earth is flat. The September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks were an inside job. The COVID-19 pandemic is a hoax. A secret organization called the Illuminati runs the world from behind the scenes.

All of these ideas have gained varying degrees of traction in recent years, mostly thanks to the internet. How should Christians respond to these and other conspiracy theories?

Dr. David K. Bernard shares his thoughts on the popularity of these theories, and discusses how Christians should respond in light of biblical truth.

20 Jun 2022Why Do Apostolics Oppose Abortion?00:11:11

A leaked initial draft of a majority opinion in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization case indicates that the Supreme Court of the United States will strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision that made abortion the law of the land in the United States. Pro-life Christians are rejoicing at the apparent end of what they consider an unconstitutional ruling.

Why does the issue of abortion matter so much to Christians, including Oneness Pentecostals? How should Christians respond to the basic premise of the so-called “pro-choice” argument, which is that abortion is a private matter and no one other than the woman seeking the abortion should have a say in the matter?

Dr. David K. Bernard explains the biblical underpinnings of the pro-life argument and shares his thoughts on the Supreme Court's decision.

27 Jun 2022Is It OK for Christians to Be Cremated?00:06:41

According to the National Funeral Directors Association, approximately 58 percent of people in the U.S. are now cremated at death. That number has risen dramatically in recent years, and is expected to keep climbing. Experts note that religion is a major influence in the decision of how to dispose of the body at death. For example, until 1963, the Roman Catholic Church prohibited cremation for members.

Does cremation violate God’s Word, or is it an acceptable choice for believers? Dr. David K. Bernard answers this question by explaining the Scriptural view of the human body and how it relates to cremation.

04 Jul 2022Are Church Organizations Biblical?00:15:26

One criticism occasionally leveled at the United Pentecostal Church International and other church organizations is that, in the view of some, there is no precedent for these entities in the New Testament. These critics argue that religious organizations are just manmade groups with no spiritual authority, and their leaders are little more than religious bureaucrats appointed by men.

Dr. David K. Bernard responds to this charge by showing the biblical precedent for organized Christian ministry. He provides Scriptural evidence of churches and leaders in the New Testament coordinating their efforts and appointing leaders with spiritual oversight and authority. Dr. Bernard also explains why churches and believers should do the same today.

11 Jul 2022Which Old Testament Rules Apply to New Testament Believers?00:13:19

The Old Testament includes various commands that most Bible teachers would say are not applicable to Christians. For example, Leviticus 19:19 says, “Do not plant your field with two different kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven from two different kinds of thread.” Most Christians would say these commands do not apply to New Testament believers. However, the same chapter of Leviticus also says, “Do not steal,” “Do not deceive or cheat one another,” and “Do not defraud or rob your neighbor.” Christians believe these teachings do apply to them.

How can Christians determine whether an Old Testament passage is applicable to New Testament believers, or whether it was only in-force for the people living under the Old Testament? Dr. David K. Bernard offers a set of guidelines to help Christians answer this important question.

18 Jul 2022Is Charging or Earning Interest a Sin?00:13:30

Exodus 22:25 says, “If you lend money to any of My people who are poor among you, you shall not be like a moneylender to him; you shall not charge him interest” (NKJV). Several other Bible passages reiterate the same theme: God prohibited His people from charging interest on their money, at least when loaned to a fellow Israelite.

Considering this, is it a sin for modern Christians to put their money in the bank or financial markets for the purpose of earning interest? Does capitalism contradict God's Word? Dr. David K. Bernard answers these questions by comparing the setting of these biblical commands with the economic realities of the twenty-first century.

25 Jul 2022Is Jesus Standing at God's Right Hand?00:12:58

Several New Testament passages describe Jesus as sitting or standing at God’s right hand. One of the most frequently referenced is Acts 7:55, where Stephen looks into heaven as he is being martyred and sees “the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.” Taken at face value, this and similar verses seem to indicate a distinction between Jesus and God. How can Jesus, the Son of God, and God the Father be one and the same if Stephen really saw Jesus standing at God’s right hand?

Dr. David K. Bernard answers this question by reviewing the Bible's statements about the nature of God and the significance of the right hand in Scripture.

01 Aug 2022The Bible, Biology, and Preferred Pronouns00:17:53

The latest fad in social media and elsewhere is for individuals to post their “preferred pronouns." The idea is that others should not assume your gender identity. The underlying belief behind this practice is that gender is a social construct, not a biological fact. But how should a Christian respond when someone asks to be identified in a way that contradicts both biology and the Bible?

Dr. David K. Bernard responds by examining science and the Scriptures. He offers practical advice to believers of all ages who are attempting to navigate the turbulent waters of modern culture.

In this episode, Dr. Bernard references two books, Irreversible Damage by Abigail Shrier and As Nature Made Him: The Boy Who Was Raised as a Girl by John Colapinto.

08 Aug 2022Should Christians Go to War?00:19:05

In a world filled with war and violence, how should Christians interpret Jesus’ teachings in the Sermon on the Mount such as “Resist not evil” (Matthew 5:39) and “To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also” (Luke 6:29, NKJV)? Are Christians supposed to stand aside while evil people destroy their homes, kill their family and neighbors, and steal their possessions?

Dr. Bernard shares his thoughts on this difficult question and how Christians might respond when threatened with physical violence and potential harm. He also discusses how the Bible's teachings apply to participation in modern warfare and capital punishment.

In this episode, Dr. Bernard references the book On Killing: The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Society by Lieutenant Colonel Dave Grossman.

22 Aug 2022Is Sprinkling a Valid Form of Baptism?00:13:41

In some Christian traditions, converts are sprinkled with water at baptism, while in other churches baptismal candidates are fully submerged in water. Which method is biblically correct? Does God honor both?

29 Aug 2022Can Christians Lose Their Salvation?00:11:50

Can a Christian fall away from faith and be eternally condemned? Theologians have debated this question for centuries. On one side of the argument are proponents of the doctrine of eternal security, or what is sometimes euphemistically referred to as “once saved, always saved." On the other side are adherents of what is known as "conditional security."

In this episode, Dr. David K. Bernard explains what these terms mean and examines what the Bible says about this eternally-important question.

05 Sep 2022When Dress Codes Conflict with Apostolic Beliefs00:09:35

This summer, a school district in north Texas elicited backlash when it implemented a new dress code for students that prohibited dresses and skirts. This is not the first time school or workplace dress codes have conflicted with Apostolic Pentecostal teachings and values, however. What should Apostolic believers do when school administrators or employers mandate attire that is immodest or does not reflect gender distinctions?

Dr. David K. Bernard explains Apostolic teachings on modesty and gender distinction and what believers can do both personally and legally when those beliefs come under fire.

For a further explanation of scriptural teachings on modesty and gender distinction, see Dr. Bernard's books In Search of Holiness and Practical Holiness: A Second Look. Both titles are available at PentecostalPublishing.com.

12 Sep 2022Why Are There So Many Different Denominations?00:17:48

The Center for the Study of Global Christianity at the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary reports that, as of 2019, there were 45,000 Christian denominations worldwide. How can Christians all claim to read the same book and yet arrive at such vastly different conclusions about what it says?

Dr. David K. Bernard explains the three primary philosophies of biblical interpretation that have led to the formation of various Christian sects, while challenging believers to return to the faith of the original apostles.

10 Oct 2022Does the Bible Condone Slavery?00:15:57

Some critics argue that the Bible is an outdated and barbaric book that condones slavery. They point out that Old Testament patriarchs such as Abraham owned slaves. In the New Testament, the apostle Paul seems to defend the practice, writing in Ephesians 6:5, “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear” (NLT). Antebellum slave masters in the U.S. used these and other biblical texts to argue that slavery was God’s will.

Dr. David K. Bernard responds to these arguments by explaining how the Bible and Christianity led to the abolition of slavery in many parts of the world, including the West.

17 Oct 2022Does the Bible Support Women in Ministry?00:18:13

Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 2:12, “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.” This verse is cited frequently by opponents of women in ministry. However, the United Pentecostal Church International ordains women to preach, teach, and serve in leadership roles. How does the UPCI reconcile this practice with Paul's statement?

Dr. David K. Bernard answers this question by noting examples of women in spiritual leadership in the Old Testament, the early church, and the modern Pentecostal movement. In doing so, he makes the case for women playing an active role in ministry today, including preaching and teaching God's Word.

21 Nov 2022Is Mark 16:9-20 Authentic?00:16:13

Some modern translations, including the New International Version, include the following note after Mark 16:8: “The earliest manuscripts and some other ancient witnesses do not have verses 9–20.” A similar insertion is found at the end of John 7. It reads, “The earliest manuscripts and many other ancient witnesses do not have John 7:53—8:11. A few manuscripts include these verses, wholly or in part, after John 7:36, John 21:25, Luke 21:38 or Luke 24:53.”

Considering this, should Mark 16:9-20 and John 7:53-8:11 be included in our Bibles? Dr. David K. Bernard explains the reasons why some modern translations include these textual notes, and why we can trust the authenticity of both Mark 16:9-20 and John 7:53-8:11.

05 Dec 2022How Do Oneness Pentecostals Explain Paul's Greetings?00:12:09

Paul’s epistles typically open with a greeting that refers to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. For example, in Romans 1:7 Paul wrote, “Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Trinitarians argue that the wording of these greetings is evidence of a distinction between members of the Godhead. How do Oneness Pentecostals respond to this assertion?

Dr. David K. Bernard addresses this question by examining these passages from the perspective of Paul's first-century readers. His response makes it clear that there is no distinction of persons between the God of the Old Testament and Jesus Christ.

12 Dec 2022What Is Biblical Submission in Marriage?00:16:58

In Ephesians 5:22, Paul wrote, “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” He repeated this command in Colossians 3:18 when he said, “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.” In Titus 2:5, he told his ministerial protégé that he should teach younger women to be “obedient to their own husbands.”

Some critics say these verses are proof that Paul was sexist, while others use the apostle's words as cover for abusive behavior. Dr. David K. Bernard explains why both responses are a misrepresentation of the principle Paul was advocating.

26 Dec 2022Is Footwashing a Biblical Requirement?00:10:33

In John 13:14-15, Jesus tells His disciples, “If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you." Does this mean the practice of footwashing is a biblical requirement, or did Jesus only mean that believers should look for practical ways to serve one another?

Dr. David K. Bernard answers this question with a review of both the Scriptures and the history of revival movements, including the early twentieth-century Pentecostals.

In this episode, Dr. Bernard references the book Footwashing in John 13 and the Johannine Community by Pentecostal scholar John Christopher Thomas, available at https://amzn.to/3v9CMwq.

In 1 Peter 2:9, the apostle wrote that believers are part of “a royal priesthood." In Western culture, the word “priest” evokes images of someone in a long robe conducting religious rituals. How should we interpret Peter's words in a modern context? Dr. David K. Bernard explains.

30 Jan 2023What Happens at the Judgment Seat of Christ?00:11:08

In 2 Corinthians 5:10, Paul wrote, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” The apostle is writing to believers who presumably already had their sins forgiven when they repented and were baptized in Jesus’ name. If that’s the case, what exactly is going to happen at the “judgment seat of Christ”?

Dr. David K. Bernard responds to this question by examining what the Bible says about judgment and reward.

13 Feb 2023What Is a Theophany?00:10:09

13 Mar 2023Does the New Testament Promote Socialism?00:15:29

Does the New Testament advocate communal living or a form of economic socialism? Those who believe it does point to Acts 2:44-45, where Luke wrote, "Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need" (NKJV). Does this mean Apostolic Pentecostals should abandon modern capitalism and adopt a socialist model?

20 Mar 2023Is Jesus God or God's Son?00:18:48

Oneness Pentecostals believe Jesus was God “manifest in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16.) But the New Testament repeatedly refers to Jesus as the “Son of God.” What does this title mean? Does it indicate Jesus was somehow different from God, or less than God? Is Jesus God, or is He God’s Son?

03 Apr 2023What about the Thief on the Cross?00:17:25

The thief on the cross in Luke 23:32-43 was never baptized, never spoke in tongues, and never joined a church, but Jesus responded to his simple cry of faith by saying, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise” (verse 43, NKJV). Considering this, should we conclude that a simple prayer of faith is sufficient for salvation?

Dr. David K. Bernard examines this passage in the light of what the rest of Scripture says about salvation. He explains the importance of Peter's command in Acts 2:38 while responding to questions about the fate of those who, like the thief on the cross, face extenuating circumstances.

Dr. David K. Bernard looks to the Book of Acts to identify the vital signs of a healthy Apostolic church. His answer provides a New Testament template that pastors and ministry leaders can use to determine how their congregation compares with the early church.

17 Apr 2023What about Matthew 28:19?00:22:08

In Matthew 28:19, Jesus told His disciples to baptize their converts "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” So why did Peter preach that believers should "be baptized ... in the name of Jesus Christ" (Acts 2:38)? How do we reconcile this apparent discrepancy between what Jesus commanded and what Peter said on the Day of Pentecost?

Dr. David K. Bernard examines the context of Jesus' words at the conclusion of Matthew's Gospel and explains how to bridge the seeming gap between what Jesus said and what His disciples did in the Book of Acts.

24 Apr 2023Has Revelation Already Been Fulfilled?00:12:20

A school of thought within Christianity known as preterism argues that the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation already have been fulfilled. Proponents of preterism say the destruction of Jerusalem by Roman armies in AD 70 was the culmination of Bible prophecy, so there will be no future Tribulation or other so-called “end time” events. But is this teaching compatible with Pentecostal theology?

Dr. David K. Bernard examines the inherent flaws of preterism and shows why it is inconsistent with biblical teaching and Pentecostal theology.

01 May 2023Are Spiritual Gifts for the Church Today?00:15:03

There is a debate within Christianity over whether the spiritual gifts Paul described in 1 Corinthians 12-14 still operate in the church today. Cessationists argue that spiritual gifts ceased with the apostles, while Pentecostals, including the United Pentecostal Church International, believe and teach that spiritual gifts continue to operate in the church today.

In this podcast episode, Dr. David K. Bernard responds to the most common arguments cessationists make to support their claims. In doing so, he explains why believers should expect the supernatural gifts described in the New Testament to operate in the modern church.

17 Jul 2023Will the Sonship of Jesus End?00:15:03

Paul's description of the end of the age in 1 Corinthians 15:24-28 has confused many readers. The apostle wrote, “Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power” (verse 24). He later added, “And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all" (verse 28). Taken at face value, Paul seems to imply not only a distinction between the Father and the Son, but also a subordinate role for the Son.

Dr. David K. Bernard reviews what the Bible says about the sonship of Jesus Christ and explains how Paul's description of the end of the age fits within that framework.

14 Aug 2023Does Absolute Truth Exist?00:13:44

According to postmodernism, there is no such thing as “absolute truth." This directly contradicts the Christian belief that Jesus Christ is "the truth" (John 14:6) and that the holy Scriptures are infallible. Considering this, how can Christians effectively share their faith with those who adhere to postmodernist thinking?

Dr. David K. Bernard explains the Christian basis for belief in absolute truth and how believers can engage with those who have been influenced by postmodernist thought.

In the U.S., there also are concerns that the sentencing process in capital cases is tainted by racism and bias.

How should Christians address this topic? Does the Bible support the death penalty, or is capital punishment a barbaric relic of the past that should be abolished? Listen now to Dr. David K. Bernard's response.

04 Sep 2023Would the Discovery of Aliens Undermine Scripture?00:11:23

In July 2023, a retired Air Force major testified before a congressional subcommittee that the US government has been aware of “non-human” activity since the 1930s. According to the former intelligence officer’s testimony, the US government has found and attempted to reverse-engineer unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, as they are commonly known. The Pentagon has denied these claims, but lawmakers from both parties seemed to take this testimony at least somewhat seriously. (Source: The Associated Press)

Would irrefutable proof of extraterrestrial life undermine the authority of Scripture or present a challenge to faith in God? Dr. David K. Bernard responds to this question by reviewing what the Bible does (and doesn't) say about life on other planets.

02 Oct 2023Why Don't Apostolic Pentecostals Wear Jewelry?00:22:36

Paul told Timothy that Christian women should "adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array" (1 Timothy 2:9, KJV). What does this mean for believers living in the modern world, and how do we define "costly array"?

“Servant leadership” is a popular buzzword in Western culture. At first glance, this may seem like a contradiction. A servant performs duties on behalf of others, often for those in positions of power. The individuals who occupy those positions of power are usually considered leaders. If this is the case, how can someone be a "servant leader"?

Dr. David K. Bernard examines what the Bible says about being a servant and explains how serving others is the highest form of leadership.

27 Nov 2023Does 1 John 5:7 Describe the Trinity?00:14:44

Some have cited 1 John 5:7 (“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one") as evidence that the Scriptures teach a plurality of persons in the Godhead. To make matters more confusing, many modern translations include the reference to “three witnesses” (NLT) or “three that testify” (NIV), but leave out any reference to the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit.

Dr. David K. Bernard discusses the history of this verse and how it fits Oneness Pentecostal theology. His answer will enlighten anyone who wants to understand this frequently-debated passage.
