Anew Narrative (Sam Zagar)

Do you believe you have to choose between love and money? Is there an inner narrative in you that says you can't have both? There was for me. For years I've felt like I had to choose to be successful in either love OR money and this year I decided I wasn't going to accept that.

I talk about how I absolutely would not accept the belief that I had to choose between the two, and how I managed to prove that I could in fact have both. This month marks not only my most successful financial month to date, but also a milestone in my relationship.

The conversation between 2/4 pure Manifesting Generator Olyveya Mazier and myself started when I sent her a DM on instagram asking her if I could run her bodygraph to see if she is a first color determination. Her instagram name at the time was @carnivoreballerina and she was tracking her health journey as she moved towards a VERY simple diet that is heavy in animal products. Olyveya has a defined spleen and a defined heart through the Channel of Surrender like I do, and we both digest animal products very well, especially ruminant animals. She had a yes for me running her chart and we discovered she is in fact a first color determination - Alternating!

Brayton returns for a highly requested follow up Q+A episode where we discuss right variables (passive, observer, receptive, peripheral) and how they impact your life and self perception. I'm thrilled to introduce you to Jess Gelvin, a 3/5 Pure MG. 

Jess and I are a complimentary binary in that she is a Quad Right, and I am a Quad Left in our variable configurations. Thats a loose way of saying Jess absorbs information whereas I organize information. There is something very cool that Jess and I are able to demonstrate and that is the relationship between the Projector and Sacral Being where I ask and she responds, and then we add another layer to that of my leftness asking/pulling from her rightnesse.

We're going to back it up to a conversation I had with Nic Strack at the end of November 2020. Nic is an incredible person who has gone through a lot of personal transformation in the last 6 years including a shift in identity, sexuality, family dynamics, and the loss of their mother. Things are noticeably different this episode as I host Brayton, who some of you may know as @braytthegreat, a passionate 2/4 wide-split emotional projector. Brayton and I connected on instagram about a year ago, and I've been observing his engagement in the community for a while. When things got a little heated recently thanks to the tropical / sidereal / true sidereal debate, Brayton and I ended up connecting on a much more technical level behind the scenes. Oddly enough we had set the intention to record the podcast about a month before, and had yet to set a date when the conversation suddenly got a lot more interesting.

The original point of the episode was to talk about Braytons variables; quad-right, or all-right. This makes Brayton and I a binary in Human Design as I am a quad-left. There is very little information about the lived experience of quad-rights and how we can help support them in a rapidly evolving world because we are shifting towards a right variable society. This is part of why the institutions are crumbling. My strategic left brain way of doing things is becoming antiquated in favour of emotional intelligence, and Brayton is here to talk about it.

For those of you that enjoy getting to know me on a more personal level, this episode was an experiment in stream of consciousness. I get quite a kick out of that as someone with the RAX of Consciousness. Recorded on the day my mom left, 6 days after the emotional Manifestor and his two dogs moved out, which was only a month after I lost mediation for homeschool. In this episode I begin to explore the topic of feminine and masculine energy in relation to Human Design mechanics. 

This is a topic that is often much more full of homoegnization than differentiation. 

I do not believe that all men should present as a standard type of "masculine" or that all women should present as a standard type of "feminine". I believe different mechanics alter the way in which we are perceived as masculine or feminine by the other, but it has much more to do with the conditioned narrative that the other has attached to the words "masculine" or "feminine" and nothing to do with the actual quality of energy.

A common example I reference is the Manifestor woman who inititates (a "masculine" quality) or the Projector man who waits to be invited (a "feminine" quality). 

When Ra Uru Hu talks about the feminine and masculine energies, he refers to them as Yin and Yang. Just that subtle shift in language can help to discern the difference between "masculine" and "feminine" in their true expression versus their not-self performance.

When she was done with me, the first thing I could feel was that my voice was significantly stronger. Nadia has been through a profound health journey and while some of it is gutwrenching, it does have a very satisfying ending. It's been an honest year for me and it's showing no signs of slowing down. 

This episode has a lot of personal story sharing and in the spirit of truth and confrontation - I wasn't actually sure I was going to follow through with publishing it. I was a little nervous about what I had said. I gave myself time to process and let it all sink into my body and just waited for a clear no from my spleen and not my mind. I allowed all the nervousness about why I should avoid being honest in this way to come in and be felt.

I started feeling like I needed to listen back to the episode to see if it was as scary, shameful, or embarrassing as my mind wanted me to believe, so I made a coffee the next morning and put my headphones on in bed and hit play.

I'm glad I did.

There's a reason I felt called to record this, and it's the same reason I'm going to publish it now - because it feels clean to tell the truth. It feels like washing my solar plexus. It feels incredibly empowering and the more I do it, the easier it gets.

It's time to meet the Big Invitation Client - Jesse Johnson. 

Jesse's design is a 4/6 emotional Generator with the Channels of Abstraction and Mating, but what she does for work is support people to make the money they need in order to realize their potential.

Previously an NYC math teacher, she pivoted into the world of business coaching when she realized she could generate more of the results she wanted in that industry. Once she was able to leave the structure of the classroom, she found the freedom and spaciousness she was craving in her work relationships, and the success results began to follow. I say success because her work is in making financial abundance a reality for people who didn't believe it was possible, and that work satisfies her to no end. 

How we ended up in relationship is quite a fantastical, mechanical story - and one I'll mostly save for part 2 of this episode - but for now, it's time to meet Jesse. I hope you hear what I hear - a Generator in response, and how satisfying that can be. She's one of my favourite Generators to absorb and amplify. I tell her she's "fresh-pressed Jesse" and I'm thirsty.

I met Shyanne when she reached out to me after watching some of my YouTube videos and we were fast friends. I felt incredibly recognized and connected to her because she invited me to chat on a platform that used video and we both showed up with messy hair, no make up, kids interrupting and smoking weed. We were kindred spirits.

I'm kicking off season 2 of Anew Narrative with guest Rachel Goodwin, a wildly successful make-up artist with a heart wrenching back story. Rachel has 20+ years in her industry and has worked with the biggest brands from MAC and NARS, to Chanel, and applied her artistic hands to some of the most iconic celebrity faces of our time. 

Rachel invited me to do a session with her in 2020 and I completely fan girl'd. I couldn't believe she knew who I was! I was thrilled to be able to talk to her about her design, and in return, she gave me the confidence to wear a red lip, and the permission to embrace my style, whatever that was. Little did she know, she was planting a seed that would blossom a year later as she graced me with her presence on Anew Narrative to talk Human Design.

Many of you should be used to hearing this name from my recent life experience, as I invited Christine Macsween to step into the role of being my 'embodiment therapist'. Christines human design is a 1/4 splenic projector with a defined root center who I have always enjoyed being in the energy of. Christine and I met when she had a session with me, then she had an analysis done for her and a business partner, which gave me two good opportunities to be in her presence. After connecting on instagram one day, I realized that while varied, Christine's skill set was exactly what I needed for some of my own healing. She is a physiotherapist so she is incredibly body informed, but specifically she's amazing with women's issues and also with grief work. It was like all of these dots came together and I saw how she was exactly what I needed as an over-worked, over-stimulated projector with an undefined root, women's issues (breast health and miscarriages) and the grief that has resulted from the previous. I asked her to join me on the podcast to talk all things consecutive determination, about the power of the root center, how to navigate grief-land, how to see the shadow of your design as the light instead, so much. I'm back for a solo episode after weeks of nursing my vulnerability hangover and in all honesty, it feels like round two! On a splenic whim I decided to leave a questions box on instagram for the last 24 hours and then I turned on the mic and read what they were. I wanted the opportunity to do questions in a consecutive order, while being alone in my own energy. Editing these episodes is always a fascinating experience as I am frequently entertained at the range and variation in my voice and the stories I tell. Some of the questions were simple and some of them were HUGE. I laugh, I cried and I know many of you listening along will do the same <3

I was drawn to Amy's work very quickly after I found Human Design because I loved the way that she focused on the astral elements and brought forward the information in a really intuitive, etherial, yet grounded way. Amy is a 5/1 Splenic Projector with a defined root, and you can absolutely feel the luxury of that energy. Her and I are, in some ways, absolutely similar, and in other ways, completely opposite, and as always, it's fascinating. Her and I both have the same birth year, Aquarius north node, Pisces moon, Leo rising, gate 44 in Pluto, and it's incredible hearing how that has all translated into some very similar life experiences, like body jumping energetics and feeling others pain. We genuinely get vulnerable, uncomfortable, we wonder if its TMI but we keep going. We talk sex, dating, abandonment, channelling, autoimmune, the Claire's and many others spontaneous things that dropped in.

This week on Anew Narrative we will be hosting Thomas Sieger, a 5/1 Pure MG with a passive brain and receptive mind, LAX of upheaval, and hope motivation. Thomas and I started engaging on instagram towards the end of 2019 and he really got my attention when he started sourcing information about the instagram HD community, and where we had all studied. He was gathering information that would ultimately lead to developing an App for the community which can be found at @matchmysource. Its purpose is to match you with someone who has the definition you seek, whether it be same profile, same type, same authority, etc. The most beautiful thing about this project though is that its purpose is not to make money, its purpose is connection, and thats a noble one that got my attention. Thomas tells a very engaging story about reverse panhandling where he left a tray of money out for people to take from as a social experiment. The pictures he's included really validated this purity of intention feeling that I get consistently from Thomas. I have always felt a very comfortable attachment to Thomas, and I've felt uncomfortable when I've seen him be projected upon as the 5th line with suspicious intentions simply because people don't understand his motivation, or his native language, so it was important to me to have him on the show to be more properly introduced to our community.

There's something about this episode for me that was so powerful, so personal, so profound - that it became my new favourite episode while listening back to it and editing the YouTube video for it. While it might sound wildly cliché, I could hear in my own voice how much I've learned to accept myself. I've been struggling with some aspects of my own functioning, such as how quickly I can get overwhelmed and overstimulated, or how intense of a focus I can get locked into. Through seeking support, I learned that I am someone with the right cluster of syptoms to be diagnosed as high functioning ADHD. I've begun working with a psychiatrist on an assortment of strategies to help me structure my life to be more supportive to how I function. Understanding my Quad Left variable configuration is probably the most helpful thing I've learned about myself, but there was a LOT of value in knowing my type, and what undefined centers I had as well.

My first 10K month for sales didn't happen because I had a marketing plan or a great sales pitch. I don't have a content calendar and I'm not constantly working on offerings. No the work that had to be done here comes before all of that. This is an episode for the person who still needs to leave a bad marriage, who needs to enforce boundaries, who is still working for free hoping it will lead to something. This is for the person who desperately wants to start a business, but doesn't think they have the qualifications.
