If you're not feeling really good about you and your work, you're likely not going to feel balanced in life. If you're constantly looking for other people to validate how good you are and what you're doing, you're going to spend too long perfecting things. If you're really hard on yourself and have a lot of negative self-talk, you’re going to waste time and energy in self-judgement and indecision and likely never experience balance. A confident relationship with yourself is literally the foundation for a balanced life.

In this episode, I will explain several misconceptions about work-life balance, the truth about what it actually is and the 4 components that make up a balanced working mom life.

I will dive deep into the first component, confidence, and share why I think it is the foundation to creating a balanced life. We will cover why knowing who you are and who you are not is vital to being confident and ultimately how true confidence is being able to separate how good you are as a person, mom and worker from how much you accomplish.

You get to decide what you want to think about your to do list. You could decide to think “I’m behind” or “I’m not getting enough done”, which is likely going to leave you feeling inadequate and exhausted or you can choose to think “I’m on top of everything” or “I know what I’m doing”, which will have you feeling successful and accomplished. In today’s podcast, I’m talking about how important your thoughts are when it comes to your to do list. I will walk you through the kinds of thoughts that are not to think and I’ll give examples of exactly what you need to think in order to walk away from work feeling accomplished, successful and satisfied (no matter how many things you checked off the list). And then at the end, I offer one very simple five minute practice to help you get out of “it’s not enough” thinking.

In this episode I introduce the "75/25 rule," where you make it a goal to ONLY be 75% ready for meetings, presentations, or talks with clients, instead of stressing out to get everything perfect. I will explain why going beyond 75% preparedness often doesn't pay off in terms of the extra time and energy spent.

In this episode I will discuss the downsides of overpreparing, like missing out on quality time with family or personal hobbies because you're too caught up in work details. When you are not aiming for 100% preparedness, you can save yourself from feeling stressed and make room for the things in life that make you happy.

At the end of the episode, I will offer 3 tips to adopt the 75/25 rule in your daily routine. I will share stories from working moms who've strived for only 75% preparedness and found a better balance between their work and personal lives.

Instead you need to reprioritize; to trade off being available to your coworkers to being available to your family. To trade off feeling 100% prepared for every meeting and presentation to being 75% prepared and trusting yourself for the rest. Your brain is so powerful, that your thoughts are like a self-fulfilling prophecy. They will either move you forward or hold you back. Which means, you have to be able to control what's going on in your brain if you want to have an ambitious and balanced life. In this episode we will be focusing on the third component that creates balance: a controlled mind.

What we feel stems from what we think. The literal words that go through your head are what create sensations or feelings in your body. So if you want to feel balanced, you have to think thoughts that create a feeling of balance. In this episode, I am going to teach you how your thoughts are connected to your emotions, the most common thoughts that create imbalance and exactly what you should be thinking instead.

In this episode, I am going to talk about why you don’t need more time to be successful. That actually, success has nothing to do with time. Our brains only think we need “more time” to be successful because we’ve never pushed ourselves to think otherwise. I will break down the way a balanced person views success and explain exactly how they are able to achieve more in less time.

Success does not define you. Who you are as a person has nothing to do with being successful. You are a good mom, wife & worker despite your outward successes. When you believe this, you are free to achieve, try, take risks, say no, do all the things because it doesn’t define who you are.

And when you believe that success is not dependent on time you will begin to push your brain to think more creatively so you reach the desired outcome in shorter periods of time.

The pivot moment is the moment you realize you’re about to say yes to something you don’t want to, or you’re feeling anxious about an upcoming presentation even though you’re prepared. It’s the moment you feel your anger rising at your kids that usually results in yelling., or the moment you feel the urge to log back on to work even though you know the best thing is to rest.

It's the pivotal moment where you have a choice. You can either keep thinking, feeling or doing what you’re doing (which won’t result in what you want) or you can change course. In today’s episode I’m talking why learning how to navigate the pivot moment it is one of the most powerful things you can do as a working mom and I will share what it takes to create an effective pivot.

When you feel uncertain and are unable to make a decision, you start to feel stuck and your brain experiences tunnel vision (where it hyper focuses on the problem). In today’s episode I'm going to be addressing one of the most important topics to creating balance in your life: your value. Essentially your worth. As we become adults, we learn that our value has a lot to do with both the quality and quantity of our output – our accomplishments - but that isn’t really where our true value lies. Our value lies in something much deeper than that, and as you begin to realign your value away from your career & accomplishments, you’re going to have a much easier time creating a balanced life.

If your value isn’t found in your career and your accomplishments, where is found? In simply being you! Your value is found in the core pieces of who you are. I call this your human value. In this episode I am breaking down the difference between your accomplished value and your human value and explaining why it is important to shift the way you see your value.
