Rick’s career dates all the way back to the mid-1980s, allowing him to lend his voice to some of the most iconic characters through the years. Some of the roles Rick has played include Mr. Nosey (as Mr. Nosy) and Mr. Nervous in the American dub of The Mr. Men Show, Spike the Dog on Warner Bros. Animation’s The Tom and Jerry Show, Lynn Loud Sr.’s father Leonard “Gramps” Loud in The Loud House,  Shusuke Amagai in season 9 of popular anime Bleach, and most recently, Croaks in The Cuphead Show.

Brian Hull is BACK in Wonderland! This time around, Brian and I sit down together to talk about his amazing and inspiring journey from the small YouTube screen to the silver screen as Dracula in Hotel Transylvania 4! Brian is best known for his incredibly spot-on impressions of various characters on YouTube. His incredible journey starts from the time his YouTube video, “Disney and Pixar Sings Let It Go” went viral until it caught the attention of the big animation studios, including Walt Disney Studios which allowed him to pursue his voice acting career!

This week on Alicyn’s Wonderland, I sit down with legendary comic book and animation writer, Mark Evanier. Join us as we journey down the rabbit hole and through the looking glass into the wild and wonderful world of animation, comic books, and of course SD COMIC-CON!!! 

Mark is one of the six people in the world to have attended EVERY Comic-Con event since its inception in 1970 and he’s definitely got a ton of amazing stories to share!

In this episode, Mark walks us through his unconventional career path, where he started as an apprentice to legendary comic book writer and visionary, Jack Kirby, before moving on to writing TV sitcoms, to writing comics for and eventually running the Hanna-Barbera comics division. He also regales us with his storied history as the writer of the beloved CBS animated series, Garfield and Friends. 

Mark also shares with us how San Diego Comic-Con began as well as how he made it an even bigger event by including voice actors on his panels. Finally, we also talk about the changes he’s seen at Comic-Con over the years and what to expect in the future.

In this week’s episode, I am joined by the electrifying Sarah Natochenny. She was only 19 years old when she replaced Veronica Taylor as the voice of Ash Ketchum in the English dub of Pokémon, starting at its ninth season. Since then, Sarah has gone on to play a slew of other fantastic characters, including Alicia in the 2006 video game Bullet Witch, Aura Sentia in Yu-Gi-Oh!, as well as Marian on Robin Hood. Apart from being a voice actress, Sarah is also a film editor, having worked as the primary editor for networks such as MSNBC and an assistant editor on the films Life of Crime, Cold Comes the Night, Worst Friends, and Cruise.

 

Sarah’s journey has had many twists and turns, all of which have led to fantastic and meaningful places. Join us as we talk about her journey into becoming a bronze-medal rhythmic gymnast and how she relates her experience in conquering the challenges of rhythmic gymnastics with her voice acting career. She also talks about how she booked Ash Ketchum at just 19 years old as well as her experience of getting terrifying threats and eventually conquering the fear it instilled in her. We also touch upon her love for film as well as her work as a film editor.

Kicking into this week’s episode with me is voice actor Adam McArthur, who is best known as the voice of Marco Diaz the deuteragonist of the hit Disney XD animated series, Star vs. the Forces of Evil. He is also the voice of Yuuji Itadori in the hit anime Jujutsu Kaisen, as well as Chifuyu Matsuno in Tokyo Revengers.

Join us as Adam talks about how he went from competing in martial arts tournaments to carving out a career in on-camera and voice acting. Adam takes us all the way back to his beginnings, where he started by taking a 4-week class held by a former Sesame Street voice talent in San Francisco plus his unlikely victories as a student of various martial arts! He also shares his views on why pursuing passions and hobbies beyond one’s craft is crucial for growth and success. Billy has an amazing list of credits to his name, as he is known as the original voice actor for Nickelodeon’s Doug as well as Stimpy Cat and Ren Hoek in The Ren & Stimpy Show. In addition to these roles, Billy is also best known for being the voice of several Futurama characters which include Philip Fry, Professor Farnsworth, Dr. Zoidberg, and Zapp Braniggan. It is also worth noting that Billy plays King Rulo in the Netflix animated series Disenchantment.

This week’s guest has made a name for himself creating incredible characters within the on-camera and voice over world. David H. Lawrence is best known for his portrayal of the villainous character, puppetmaster Eric Doyle on NBC’s sci-fi series, Heroes. Aside from this major role, David has also appeared in a number of other shows including CBS shows such as The Unit and CSI. Apart from on-camera and voice acting, David is also a network radio host, author, podcast host, and teacher to aspiring voice actors and audiobook narrators. He is also the creator of the rehearsal app, Rehearsal Pro, which helps actors rehearse and memorize scripts anytime, anywhere.

Her spellbinding performance as Resident Evil's scintillating antagonist, Alcina Dimitrescu, earned astounded acclaim from fans around the globe - a true testament to Maggie's intimidating talent!

17 May 2023Robb Pratt: From Disney's Renaissance to 3D Animation: One Animator's Journey - S3E1500:35:10

In this week's episode of Alicyn's Wonderland, we are joined by veteran animator Robb Pratt. Robb has had an illustrious career spanning decades, starting as a traditional animator at Feature Animation in the 90s before moving on to work on Disney modern classics like Pocahontas, Tarzan, Hercules, Kim Possible, and the Disney Plus animated show Firebuds. He has also played a key role in the animation of the Nickelodeon hit animation Danny Phantom and a long list of other projects. In addition, Robb is an independent animated filmmaker, with credits including Superman Classic and Bizarro Class, and is the creator of CARMAN - The Road Rage Anti-Hero.

In this episode, Robb takes us on a journey into his past, sharing fantastic stories about his childhood and the lessons he learned from Disney animators, getting insider info on all of Disney's upcoming hit animation films, and eventually securing a desk at the studio where all the animation magic happened in the 90s. Monica, together with 3 other co-founders, established this nonprofit organization to offer free advice, portfolio and resume feedback, and even mentorship. He has won seventeen Emmy Awards for his work that has defined generations of childhoods across the world. To say that I am thrilled to finally sit down with Tom is an understatement!

Olivia Hack became a part of the creative industry when she was just eight months old, starring in a Minolta commercial. Some of her best known characters include Ty Lee from Avatar: The Last Airbender, Cloe in the Bratz show, and Rhonda Wellington Lloyd from Hey Arnold! She has also done plenty of voice acting work for several video games, including Final Fantasy X-2 and the Avatar: The Last Airbender games.
